Genius Club-Chapter 1205 - 49: Who is Real, Who is Fake
Lin Xian couldn’t understand.
What exactly does the brightest, most beautiful future mean?
Before this.
Lin Xian had seen a total of nine world lines, nine possible futures for humanity, corresponding to the nine dreamscapes he experienced.
From technological stagnation to various bizarre societal forms, and then to post-catastrophe civilization rebuilding...
Each ending, whether good or bad, whether humanity was happy or not, was a matter of personal perspective.
But without exception.
In the end, these nine future worlds were all destroyed precisely by the World-Ending White Light at 00:42 on August 29th, 2624.
Thus, although the world lines changed several times, Einstein consistently said "humanity has no future," and Lin Xian always thought what Einstein meant was [World-Ending White Light]!
After all, only this makes sense.
Without the World-Ending White Light, none of those nine future endings could truly be considered as having no future.
The history of humanity is a continuous process of renewal, as long as humanity is given enough time to continue, anything is possible and everything will change.
Even in the most oppressive of The Eighth Dreamland, could those mechanical androids still rule the city in 1000 years?
It’s unlikely.
Or rather, it is certainly impossible.
Extremes will be met with reversals; when suppression reaches its peak, a rebound is inevitable.
As the power of the City of Sin grows, it is merely a matter of time before humanity regains control of the world.
Take the Fifth Dreamland, where human civilization has regressed most severely.
There were only a few million people left worldwide, living conditions barely better than in the Stone Age.
But.
So what?
Humanity itself developed from the Primitive Era and the Stone Age; it’s just retracing an old path.
Without the white light, humanity could continue to thrive for another 1000 years.
Lian Village, Rhein Village, Queenstown... might very well become centers of the new world, international metropolises, the new Donghai City.
This is the point Lin Xian finds most perplexing.
[Shouldn’t the real culprit for humanity having no future be the World-Ending White Light?]
Einstein just said:
"For decades, I have worried about humanity’s future, seeing them self-destruct in various forms and civilization ending for many reasons."
Various forms of self-destruction,
Various reasons for extinction,
This completely contradicts the future worlds seen in my dreamscapes.
Firstly, in the nine futures I’ve seen, except for the unconfirmed Ninth Dreamland; in the first eight dreamscapes, humanity never self-destructs... no matter how harsh the world is, there always exists a group of resilient individuals struggling, surviving, and fighting.
Secondly, except for the Ninth Dreamland, human civilization never died out for [various] reasons; there was only one reason... and that was the World-Ending White Light, with no second reason.
Contradiction.
Contradiction.
Contradiction.
Einstein’s words are filled with contradictions.
Summing it up, it focuses on three points:
1. If Einstein believes that a future in which humanity self-destructs is not a beautiful future, then why assert that the Ninth Dreamland, where all of humanity is wiped out, is the most beautiful future?
2. Is the future world Einstein sees really the same as the future world I see? Does he truly see the 00:42 World-Ending White Light?
3. If Einstein cannot see the World-Ending White Light, then actually the future worlds of The First Dreamland and The Seventh Dreamland should be labeled as the brightest, most beautiful world. But why does Einstein ignore these two futures?
...
The above.
All are points that Lin Xian finds unreasonable.
Thus, he suspects that the future Einstein sees may not be the same as the future he sees.
This also makes him worry again.
If he and Einstein see different futures.
That means...
One of them sees a real future, while the other surely sees a false future.
[Ultimately, whose future is real?]
Suddenly.
Lin Xian recalls his debate with the super artificial intelligence VV.
Back then, VV said that the future Lin Xian sees, as well as the part of the Space-time Law he comprehended, were quite unreasonable, thus suspecting that Lin Xian’s dreamscapes were false, fabricated, a sound stage.
This became a catalyst.
Lin Xian shared his idea of verifying the reality of his dreamscape with Chu Anqing, and she wrote him a [little note] after touching a space-time particle.
She also told him:
"Look at it there, you will surely understand."
This event had happened more than half a year ago; the little note and the captured space-time particle were placed in the Space-Time Particle Captor (a rice cooker) and stored in the Hafnium Alloy Safe at Tem Bank.
Originally, Lin Xian thought there was no need to verify the reality of his dreamscape anymore, having traversed so many dreamscapes, and even utilizing the intelligence within to kill Turing and Copernicus; this should be enough to prove the dreamscape is real.
Yet unexpectedly...
Einstein’s words made the debate over the "reality of the dreamscape" resurface once more and become more perplexing.
Lin Xian also wants to open the safe.
CC could find the meaning of her life inside the safe, and the truth of the words spoken by Bearded Man VV; Lin Xian could understand the clues Chu Anqing left for him from the words on the little note.
But the problem is, it can’t be found!
The damned super catastrophe of 2400 swept the entire Donghai City away, leveling it to the ground, and Lin Xian and CC hadn’t seen the safe in a long, long time.
The Ninth Dreamland shares the same predicament.
