Chapter 446 - This Trainee Fatui Harbinger is Too Unreliable [446]
The icy indifference of the crowd pierced Furina's heart like a blade.
No matter how fervently she claimed to be the Hydro Archon, no one believed her anymore.
This realization felt like the shattering of something deep within her soul. Her face grew numb, her body trembling uncontrollably as she staggered backward, collapsing into the defendant's chair.
At the judge's podium, Neuvillette hesitated.
Seeing Furina in such a state stirred a flicker of guilt in his heart. Yet, the trial had to proceed. The necessary steps must be followed before he could confront her with the truth.
"Now, we will leave the final decision to the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale," Neuvillette announced in his usual calm tone.
He activated the mechanism, and it emitted a soft blue glow as it produced a judgment document detailing the verdict and sentence.
Reading the contents, Neuvillette fell silent, his expression hardening.
Paimon tilted her head, sensing something unusual.
"What's wrong? Is there a problem with the verdict?"
"..."
Neuvillette paused for several seconds before continuing.
"I declare the 'Hydro Archon' guilty."
"The sentence... is death. Effective immediately."
The proclamation sent shockwaves through the Opera Epiclese.
"What?!"
"Death penalty?!"
"But Fontaine hasn't executed anyone in centuries!"
"And now, the first death sentence in history is for someone we believed to be our god... It's unreal."
The audience's stunned murmurs drowned out everything else.
Even Lumine and the others were visibly shaken, while Neuvillette himself seemed troubled, unable to reconcile the Oratrice's ruling.
Lumine ran toward him, intent on questioning the validity of the verdict.
But before she could reach him, Neuvillette's eyes widened in alarm.
"Watch out!" he shouted.
A moment later, a streak of violet energy cleaved through the air, splitting the domed ceiling of the Opera Epiclese in half and exposing the stormy skies above.
The violet blade didn't stop there, hurtling toward Neuvillette's position.
Neuvillette reacted instantly, raising his right hand to summon a deep-blue magical barrier. The violet energy collided with it, causing cracks to spiderweb across the shield.
His brow furrowed as he waved his hand, dispersing the attack.
When he looked up, he saw a shadowy figure descending from the swirling clouds, wielding a massive violet sword made entirely of energy.
"Guards!" Neuvillette ordered sharply. "Evacuate the civilians immediately!"
As the figure drew closer, its features became clear. The audience gasped collectively, recognizing him.
"Luo Qing..."
Lumine's voice trembled with disbelief.
She hadn't expected him to use such an aggressive, destructive approach to stop the trial.
Is Furina really that important to him?
From above, Luo Qing's voice thundered across the theater.
"To think that you would turn the trial of your own god into a theatrical spectacle," he spat coldly, his words dripping with disdain.
"Is this all Fontaine can offer? Cheap dramatics?"
Luo Qing had been watching the trial unfold through the Void Terminal as he raced from Whitespruce Town to the Opera Epiclese.
No matter how fast he ran, the distance had been too great. All he could do was helplessly watch as Furina was humiliated, stripped of her dignity, and broken.
When he arrived and saw her lifelessly slumped in her chair, silent tears streaming down her face, a pang of guilt and rage struck his heart.
This is my fault. I let this happen.
"What are you planning to do?" Neuvillette demanded, his voice steady but wary. The water element surged around him in a defensive torrent.
"I have no interest in your farcical judgment," Luo Qing replied coldly.
He approached Furina, his gaze softening as he knelt before her.
"I'm here to take her away."
He gently wiped the tears from her cheeks.
"I'm sorry... I came too late."
But Furina didn't respond. She sat motionless, like a marionette whose strings had been cut, tears continuing to fall silently.
Luo Qing's fury flared anew, though he kept it tightly controlled. He refused to let it boil over into reckless violence.
No matter how much anger he felt, these were Furina's people. Killing them would only deepen her sorrow.
But they will not walk away unpunished.
Luo Qing stood, his voice resonating with an undeniable authority.
"Your Archon has spent countless nights crying for you, fighting to protect you and Fontaine from the prophecy."
"And yet, you reduce her trial to nothing more than a pursuit of cheap theatrics?"
His eyes glowed with a dark energy as his voice grew louder.
"Kneel before her!"
The command struck like a tidal wave.
Civilians, guards, even figures like Navia and Clorinde—all froze mid-motion, their bodies betraying them as they dropped to their knees.
The entire audience knelt as if compelled by an invisible force, their heads bowed toward Furina.
Even Lumine and Paimon were powerless to resist.
Neuvillette, however, was unaffected.
Surrounded by a deep-blue glow, he launched himself at Luo Qing, determined to put an end to his interference.
"So, you've made your move," Luo Qing said, his voice laced with quiet fury.
"Good. I've been waiting for someone to vent my anger on."
The two clashed on the stage, blue and violet energies colliding with deafening thunderclaps. The shockwaves sent civilians sprawling, though they remained on their knees, unable to rise.
Every blow echoed through the Opera Epiclese like a storm, yet Luo Qing's command lingered in the air, forcing the audience to kneel like supplicants seeking forgiveness from their god.

Elsewhere – Luo Qing's Residence
In the quiet of the living room, Luo Qing's companions carried on with their usual routines.
Suddenly, Makoto, who had been knitting a scarf, froze. Her expression turned grim, and she misthreaded a stitch.
"Makoto, what's wrong?" Ei asked, noticing the change in her demeanor.
Makoto didn't answer immediately.
After a tense silence, she exchanged glances with the other women in the room.
"It's time for us to step in," she said softly.
