Chapter 459 - This Trainee Fatui Harbinger is Too Unreliable [459] [100 PS]
"Grand Sage..."
Bu'er fell silent, her thoughts swirling.
Luo Qing's words about a direct emissary to convey her will and wisdom—it was obvious he was just trying to create more opportunities to interact with her.
Yet, she couldn't deny that his suggestion was appealing.
Even gods, despite their vast lifespans, would one day perish. The old, withered trees of their era would fall, and new sprouts would grow in their place.
Bu'er was fully aware that the age of gods would eventually come to an end, and the next era would belong to humanity.
If such an organization, as Luo Qing described, could be established...
Even in her absence, knowledge and wisdom would continue to thrive.
"So..."
Luo Qing's voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
Looking up, Bu'er saw him rubbing his hands together, his eyes shining with anticipation. He gazed at her like an eager puppy waiting for a treat.
"Well? What do you think, Lady Bu'er~?"
"..."
Bu'er sighed internally and nodded.
"This is a good proposal. I think it's worth trying. Thank you, Luo Qing."
"I'm glad I could help, Lady Bu'er!"
Overjoyed, Luo Qing spun on his heel and began striding toward the palace gates, his excitement palpable.
"Then it's settled! I'll go inform the people and get started right away. Just wait to hear the good news, Lady Bu'er!"
In a matter of moments, Luo Qing disappeared from view.
Watching him leave, Bu'er let out another quiet sigh.
Not long ago, she had advised a young Nabu about handling matters of the heart. She hadn't expected such dilemmas to land on her own doorstep so soon.
Bu'er understood perfectly well that Luo Qing's true intention wasn't to be the Grand Sage—it was to win her heart.
And therein lay her confusion: how to reject him.
As the guardian of the World Tree, she couldn't, shouldn't, and wouldn't indulge in human emotions like love.
But her compassion and kindness made it impossible to simply voice the word no.
"...I'll deal with it later," Bu'er murmured to herself, shaking her head.
With a faint glow of green light, she vanished from the palace.

Meanwhile, Luo Qing wasted no time.
With Bu'er's approval secured, he threw himself into building the foundations of the Akademiya.

The current population of Sumeru City was a far cry from its future grandeur. Among its residents, only a handful were literate, and the city's illiteracy rate was staggeringly high despite Bu'er's efforts to teach the people herself.
Most of the citizens couldn't even write their own names, making Luo Qing's attempts to recruit competent individuals for his makeshift organization a near-impossible task.
At times, his frustration boiled over, and he felt tempted to give up entirely.
But the thought of his future wife kept him going.
In just a week, Luo Qing had cobbled together a basic structure for the Akademiya.
He appointed himself as the first Grand Sage, naturally. Beneath him, six individuals with skills that roughly aligned with the six future schools of the Akademiya were recruited to serve as sages.
Lastly, a handful of moderately educated individuals were chosen to act as scholars and teachers.
The skeleton of the Akademiya was in place, if barely functional.
Just as Luo Qing prepared to present his progress to Bu'er, he realized something unsettling: she hadn't visited Sumeru City in days.
An uneasy feeling crept over him.
Setting aside his work, Luo Qing summoned Susano'o and left the city in search of her.
The rainforests of ancient Sumeru weren't as expansive as in the future. To the west lay an endless desert, while the east was marked by jagged cliffs and mountain ranges.
Bound by the system's rules to remain within Sumeru's territory, Luo Qing scoured the forest from above.
Finally, he sensed Bu'er's presence near the western edge of the jungle.
The area, Luo Qing recalled, would one day become the destroyed ruins of Vanaarana.
As he approached, another familiar aura caught his attention.
"This place..." Luo Qing's brow furrowed.
He knew exactly who the other presence belonged to.
The Plague God, Boutis.
Descending rapidly, Luo Qing pushed Susano'o to its peak. His arrival was no quiet approach—he wanted to make his presence known.
After navigating through the dense forest, he found Bu'er at the entrance of a massive cave.
She stood before the cave, weaving vibrant green energy into a protective barrier that kept Boutis at bay.
The land around her had already withered to a lifeless yellow under the influence of Boutis' plague.
Sensing the disturbance behind him, Boutis turned and spotted a massive rock-like blade descending from above.
Forced to dodge, he snarled as Luo Qing swept past him to position himself between Boutis and Bu'er.
"You again! You're not even a god—why do you keep interfering?!" Boutis roared, his frustration boiling over.
He had spent days tracking Bu'er to her sanctuary, hoping to eliminate her while she rested. But his plans were thwarted when the little Aranara creatures alerted her, forcing a stalemate.
Now, just as he was close to breaking through her defenses, Luo Qing had shown up to ruin everything.
"I don't need a reason to help her," Luo Qing replied coldly, gripping his twin blades. "But if you're so eager for an answer, I'll give you one: your time is up."
Without waiting for a response, Luo Qing charged, clashing with the serpent-like god in a furious battle.
The sky above the forest became a battlefield. Luo Qing's Susano'o conjured towering rock-like spines, while Boutis retaliated with plagues and dark mist.
Close to the desert, Boutis already risked drawing the attention of the Scarlet King. Now, with Luo Qing creating such a ruckus, Boutis knew he couldn't afford to stay.
After a desperate counterattack with a cloud of plague fog, Boutis retreated, vanishing into the distance.
Once the battle ended, Luo Qing exhaled deeply and hurried to Bu'er's side.
"Lady Bu'er, are you all right? Are you hurt anywhere?"
"I..."
Bu'er hesitated, taken aback by the genuine concern in his voice. A strange emotion stirred within her.
"I'm fine," she said softly, shaking her head.
Placing her hand on Luo Qing's chest, she added, "Don't move. Let me heal you."
"Could you be a bit gentler this time...?"
"..."
