Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!!-Chapter 666: Maze of Heart [2]
Hearing her laugh, Noah's eyes sharpened, and he suddenly pointed at a stick on the ground. "And that is a stick. It comes from a tree that is made up of wood that grows on a planet, which is you." freewebnoveℓ.com
"Oh, shut it!" Elysia realized what he was doing and nudged him playfully from the side, but suddenly her laughter stopped when she saw the stick on the ground move.
Wh—Tessh!
The twig that appeared to be a broken vine wrapped around the walls twitched. It magically elongated and attacked Noah and Elysia like a whip, only to strike an invisible wall.
"Is this their way of trial? Whip us to death?" Watching the twig falling back from the recoil of its own attack, Elysia covered her mouth and chuckled lightly.
Crack!
As if she had cursed her own luck, several crackling sounds filled the area. The smile on Elysia's face turned strained. "Oops." She whispered, sticking out her tongue, trying to act cute.
"I should confiscate the books you have been reading." Noah snorted at her attempts to act cute before turning to see the vines on the walls moving like snakes.
"Hey! Not my books!"
Ignoring the vines that continued to strike at the invisible shield, Noah and Elysia continued to walk forward.
Hiss!
As they continued forward, the fog grew thicker. The walls cracked and continued to hiss out Soul-Ensnaring Dust.
"This fog can make a person more likely to act on his inner desires, right?" Glancing at the smoke rising from the ground, a smirk appeared on Elysia's face. A smirk that said she was up to no good.
With narrowed eyes, Noah looked at Elyisa. "Something like that; it just enhances the emotions you feel, and from what I can guess, these attacks are meant to annoy the person."
"Combined the annoyance with the dust… No wonder they called it a Maze of Heart." With a silly giggle, she walked past Noah and made a turn to the left.
They arrived at a clearing; the fog of the soul-ensnaring dust had covered their feet, but it seemed to have no effect on them.
"Tch, here I thought it could affect me." Elyisa sounded disappointed, and her words made Noah, who appeared behind her, roll his eyes.
"Duh, you are the consciousness of the world itself; how can something as measly as this affect you?"
Noah looked at the three passages before him and asked, "What now?"
He looked at each of the passages carefully, and nothing seemed to be standing out about them; they all looked the same. To the shape and arrangements of the leaves of the vines covering the walls.
The only way to distinguish these paths was the sounds coming from them.
KRRRR!
The sound coming from the first path sounded a lot like the sound of a cricket.
Hiss!
When he focused on the second path, he heard the sound of a snake hiss. The sound was low and chilling.
And finally, from the last path, he heard… nothing!
There was no sound coming from it, and that seemed to have gotten Elysia's attention.
"We will take that path." She declared, her tone light—but her golden eyes narrowed as she stared into the third tunnel of silence.
"What is your reason to choose the path where you cannot even tell what dangers might lie there?" Noah nodded and followed along with Elysia toward the third path.
"It's precisely because I don't know what is beyond this place that I chose it." With a grin on her face, the green-haired woman explained her reasoning. "People fear the unknown the most, and what better place to hide good things than a place where you would least want to go?"
Noah merely hummed at her reasoning, but the smirk on his face showed how proud he was of her for coming up with the reasoning.
It made perfect sense for someone in their situation, an angle many would not even think of under such circumstances. But then again, they were anything but normal.
He knew there was a chance her idea might be wrong, but he had confidence in his abilities to get them out of any troubles he might encounter on his way here.
The two of them arrived at the periphery of the last entrance and took a step forward.
Whooo—
As their bodies crossed the boundary, Noah felt a chilling sensation washing over his body. The flow of air he had been hearing vanished.
There was nothing but silence in the area.
He looked back and saw a closed end.
"Looks like we are trapped." Elysia sounded as carefree as Noah looked.
The blocked path did not faze them; after a mere glance, they started walking forward.
"This place is meant to be scary…?" After walking a few steps, she frowned. Their surroundings had grown darker; the walls had weird faces made on them from the vines. Some even appeared to be staring at them.
"Maybe it would have been for someone who was affected by the previous 'things' before coming here."
Elysia felt that it made sense to ignore the creepy images on the wall.
As they continued to take turns at random, Noah and Elysia left the creepy-looking walls behind.
But…
Not that they were surrounded by mirrors so tall they only reflected countless images of Noah and Elysia.
"I can proudly say that whoever made this place is a creep." Having enough of it, Elysia huffed in anger.
She pointed at the image in the mirror where she appeared to be very old and creepy, her skin loose and her muscles dangling.
"How could someone even think of tarnishing my divine image!" Elysia threw herself in Noah's arms and started complaining like a little girl.
"Do you want me to destroy the mirrors?" Amused by her actions, Noah ran his fingers through her hair and asked softly. He did not even realize that his reflection in the mirror flinched at his comment.
Elysia raised her head and appeared to be contemplating his suggestion when something in the air shifted.
