At this time, Shane extended his senses and assessed the situation… It only took him a moment to realize that everyone was doing great and none of them were in danger.

Realizing this, Shane decided to just explore this Zombie Lord Chamber instead of helping them. After all, now that his senses had improved after reaching the current max level, Shane noticed a few things within the room…

Not even Cloud, his A.I. Assistant was able to notice this…

'A hidden chamber… Inte resting.' Shane mused as he observed the location of the hidden room's entrance. It was completely disguised and it seemed that even the Zombie Lord had no idea that it had a hidden room like this in its chamber.

His fingers traced the stone wall behind the Eclipse Wraith's throne, feeling the faintest seam in the rock. Then, with a single punch, the wall shattered like glass, revealing a descending staircase filled with some flickering emergency lights that got activated.

Shane was then welcomed by a stale, metallic scent inside...

'Let's see…'

He then stepped inside and received a notification from the system.

[ You have discovered a World Government Black Site – "Project Genesis Laboratory". ]

[ You have received 10 Reputation Points. ]

The hidden lab was massive, a high-tech bunker buried beneath the fortress.

There were rows of cryogenic pods lined the walls, their glass surfaces fogged with frost. Some were shattered and their occupants were long gone.

However, others… still held bodies.

Human bodies.

But not just any humans. They were modified ones!

"This…"

Previously, Shane had also discovered a research facility and as a matter of fact, it was hidden deep beneath the Eclipse Domain Shelter. That was where he found the Bio-Armors or Genesis Armor, Exoskeleton Frames, and many other advanced defensive weapons like plasma cannons that were meant to protect important areas within the Eclipse Domain like the Portal Hall, Distillation Tower, Evacuation Shelter, and others.

Unless these places weren't threatened, these highly advanced weapons that he obtained and modified with his talent wouldn't be used at all. After all, their ammunitions were very limited and even if he could purchase them in the Anima Store, they were too expensive to maintain.

He wanted to immediately check on them but Shane decided to hold back and continued exploring for now.

Shane moved deeper, as he scanned the surroundings, and this time, A.I. Cloud was very useful.

The A.I. had better abilities when it came to scanning rooms with various technological tools.

Soon, his boots started clicking against the sterile floor as he walked around... He saw computer terminals flickered to life as he passed and their screens were displaying decades-old logs.

"I guess I should take a look." Shane muttered.

The first file Shane accessed was labeled "Project Z – Final Report."

It was a familiar name but it was quite surprising since Project Z was supposedly the failed project of the World Government. After it failed and created the Zombies, it was supposedly shut down… Then they created Project Genesis where they were trying to use the virus to their advantage like making serum, bio-armors, and such.

Anyway, Shane read the file excerpt while Cloud started downloading all the information inside.

"Subject Zero has exhibited unprecedented viral mutation. The reanimation factor is 100% effective upon expiration. However, cognitive degradation is irreversible. Recommend immediate termination of human trials."

"Director's Note: Proceed with Phase 2. The dead are just the beginning."

Shane squinted his eyes as he tried to connect all the things he learned from other laboratories of the World Government.

Considering the date of this project, it seemed that they were actually doing multiple experiments in different locations with different sets of researchers.

Furthermore, as he continued to read, it seemed this laboratory was also involved with the Project Genesis.

It wasn't too surprising but it was quite interesting since both phases of the research seemed to have occurred in this place.

"Project Genesis has achieved a breakthrough. By splicing the Z-Virus with controlled gene therapies, we have created the first stable undead hybrids. These subjects retain combat instincts, follow orders, and do not decay. They are the perfect soldiers."

"Note: Side effects include increased aggression and eventual organ liquefaction. Solution: Replace organs with cybernetic augments."

"So they really did it here… and Cybernetics?" Shane muttered, glancing at the cryo pods.

Then he saw them.

The failed experiments.

Some were half-machine, half-rotting flesh… Their limbs were replaced with rusted blades and hydraulic claws. Others were fused with outrageous mutations—extra limbs, exposed ribcages housing mechanical hearts and jaws opened up like serpents.

"What are they making here? Chimera?" Shane was shocked as he realized how he had underestimated the project of the previous government.

This specific facility was probably focused on making these abominations while the other facilities like the one underneath the Eclipse Domain were focused on making advanced weapons instead.

'So there's a facility for making Serums for Super Soldiers, Hi-Tech Weapons, and now Abominations… They were turning people into weapons without any care for human rights…" Shane muttered but he couldn't really blame them if they were that desperate to fight against the Zombies.

Shane shook his head at this as he continued to look around.

And then—he found the familiar serum.

A reinforced vault was at the lab's center, its door was already pried open by something with immense strength.

Inside, rows of glowing ampules sat in neat trays.

It was quite surprising that they weren't destroyed yet considering that someone was able to forcefully open the vault door… Shane could even tell that the mark he was seeing was definitely from a large human's hand on it.

"This is amazing…"

[ Super Soldier Serum – Prototype VX-9 ]

"Enhances physical capabilities by 500%.

Side effects: Neural degradation, eventual systemic collapse. Recommended for use only in terminal subjects."

Next to it, another set of vials:

[ Z-Virus Stabilizer – "Genesis Cure"]

"Halts viral progression in undead hybrids. Allows for controlled mutation. Warning: Unstable beyond Stage 3 infection."

"Hmm?" Shane was shocked as soon as he saw this. He couldn't help but wonder why this Z-Virus Stabilizer wasn't distributed everywhere.

Nonetheless, if the World Government had perfected this, then somewhere out there…

There might still be Genesis Soldiers!

Anyway, Shane checked the other serums and realized that aside from the Prototype version of the Super Soldier Serum, there were actually perfected versions of them.

[ Super Soldier Serum – Perfect Variant ]

There were a total of 24 of them and Shane knew that many would want to use them.

However, the governments seemed to be not satisfied with just a perfect version of the serum. Instead, they also created a different variant of it.

[ Aegis Serum – Super Variant ]

[ Description: A super enhanced Super Soldier Serum, eliminating all prior side effects. Enhances physical and cognitive abilities by 600% without degradation. Compatible with all genetic profiles.]

"This is insane…" Shane muttered as he couldn't help but feel surprised at this…

He immediately counted them and confirmed that there were only 3 Super Variant. It was a pity but he would take it anytime.

Shane then retrieved all of these serums and continued to check the place.

Soon, at the far end of the lab, one cryo pod remained intact, its occupant was perfectly preserved.

At this time, Shane froze as he saw a woman, her body was filled with cybernetic veins and her skin was pale but unrotted.

"This…"

Shane immediately had an idea of who she was. After all, he had read a lot of information about them. He also knew that the other Survivors like Natalie, Travis, Alexander, and the others had read about her as well.

"Is this Sofia?" Shane muttered as he immediately wiped the dirt that was blocking the information below the pod.

Soon, he noticed that the pod's display showed a different name…

Unfortunately, it wasn't Sofia.

[ Subject: "Eve" ]

"First successful Genesis Hybrid. Retains full cognitive function. Displays regenerative abilities surpassing baseline humans. Status: STASIS."

Shane then saw the release switch and considered it for a moment. Although he wanted to set her free, he wasn't sure if the woman would be his ally or enemy.

After all, this subject named Eve may have a deep grudge against the people who had experimented with her. He might be the one to receive her anger if he tried to release her.

"You can stay there for now…" Shane said as he decided to ignore her for now.

"I'll probably release you with others around." Shane muttered as he felt that that would be the best to ensure that Eve would reconsider whether to attack them or not as soon as she opened her eyes…

'Well… If she would still wake up…' He thought for a moment since it was also possible that she could no longer wake up from her Stasis State.

There was nothing more to see in this secret lab so Shane just focused on the information he could find in the computers.

To his surprise, he found other projects of the world government and the three of them were all quite interesting.

[ Project Prometheus – Cybernetic Integration ]

[ Project Eclipse – Controlled Viral Mutation ]

[ Project Icarus – Genetic Ascension ]
