Gospel of Blood-Chapter 616 : Impossible!
The Sea King’s Trident!
One of the three most renowned divine artifacts in Myria, standing alongside the Moon Goddess’s supreme artifact, the Dreamy Moon’s Heart, and the Genesis Arbiter of the Holy Court.
It is considered the most lethal of all artifacts on the Myria continent, and has been responsible for the destruction of more Gods than any other.
However, it cannot always display power surpassing that of other artifacts.
As the artifact of the Sea God, its strength is deeply tied to the laws of the ocean. It can only reach its full potential within the radiating range of the sea or in areas abundant with water elements.
The Holy City is not a coastal city.
But clearly, Helios was well-prepared for this. The moment the golden spear transformed into the Sea King’s Trident, the sky above the Holy City twisted instantly.
Dark silver divine power spread across the sky, and an illusory divine shrine slowly emerged above.
This was Myrick Shrine, a spatial artifact belonging to the Holy Court, capable of creating its own internal world!
As the Myrick Shrine appeared, the entire Holy City was instantly shrouded in thick clouds. The shrine opened, revealing its internal scene—waves surging, endless and boundless… it was the sea!
Helios raised the Sea King’s Trident high and pointed it toward the sea in the sky.
As if obeying the command of its king, the towering waters immediately came to life, like a celestial river pouring down from the heavens, turning the surroundings into a vast ocean.
It was a truly awe-inspiring sight.
At that moment, the entire Holy City was divided into three layers. At the bottom was the city, protected by holy power, trembling under the assault of the floodwaters.
In the middle of the air, a vast floating ocean had appeared out of nowhere. Fish swam above the heads of the people, with massive shadows occasionally drifting past, accompanied by distant whale songs.
Above this, heavy clouds blocked out the sky, with only the shining silver moon piercing through.
The clouds churned, lightning flashed, thunder roared, and fierce winds howled as torrential rain poured down, stirring up a terrifying storm over the ocean.
In the center of the storm, Charlotte was bound by golden chains, with the blood-red light of the Dreamy Moon’s Heart gathered behind her, forming an inverted cross. Intricate runes materialized and sealed various parts of her body.
Deep blue light radiated from the Sea King’s Trident’s tips. With the appearance of the ocean and the storm, this supreme artifact of the Sea God seemed to awaken from its slumber, as if it had gained its own soul. It began to draw endless power from the sea, its strength and aura constantly rising.
Its presence soon became extremely dangerous, yet more agile. The trident trembled incessantly, trying to break free from “Helios’s” grasp.
“Hmph!”
Helios snorted coldly.
Divine power gathered at his fingertips, wrapping around the Sea King’s Trident. Golden sun-like runes appeared along its shaft.
In no time… the restless Sea God’s artifact was suppressed by the already prepared Helios.
Gripping the trident, Helios gazed down at Charlotte. The tips of the weapon aimed at her chest, a cruel smile creeping across his demonic features.
“Nyx, as I said, today… you will fall!”
With that, divine power erupted, surging into the Sea King’s Trident. The weapon responded with a burst of deep blue and radiant gold light, its overwhelming divine energy swirling around it like a dragon ascending to the heavens, thrusting down!
The silver moon brightened as Charlotte felt everything around her slow down. The entire world seemed to shrink, leaving only the trident plunging toward her chest.
The rising divine power and crushing aura distorted space, a sense of unprecedented mortal peril gripped Charlotte’s heart.
She would die…
If struck by this trident, she would truly die.
This was the instinctive conclusion Charlotte reached after sensing the terrifying aura of the Sea King’s Trident.
But she did not panic. Her expression remained calm and composed.
The trident closed in, and just as Helios’s grotesque, maniacal grin reached its peak, a booming voice suddenly echoed across the heavens.
“Let there be light!”
Platinum light exploded forth, and dazzling holy power bloomed in front of Charlotte. An elderly figure appeared before her.
His form was ethereal, cloaked in holy radiance, with the faint image of a golden sacred gate behind him.
Brilliant holy light gathered in his hands as he spread his arms wide, transforming into a platinum shield that intercepted the Sea King’s Trident!
It was the Guardian Scepter, a wisdom artifact.
The clash of platinum holy light and deep blue power unleashed a fearsome force, instantly evaporating the surrounding seawater.
Cracks spread across the holy barrier as the Guardian Scepter grew increasingly faint. The elderly voice, now urgent and panicked, called out.
“Your Majesty, True Ancestor! Flee now, while you still can!”
Helios, however, seemed unsurprised by the appearance of this new protector.
He sneered coldly at the divine artifact before Charlotte and scoffed.
“I was wondering when you would show yourself. So, you’ve finally come out.”
“I never would’ve thought that the one who has been undermining me within the Holy Court all these years was a mere wisdom artifact! So, all this time, fabricating divine prophecies, helping Nyx create miracles, and preventing me from reclaiming my dominion—it was you!”
The Guardian Scepter offered no response to Helios’ accusations.
It gazed intently at the power-imbued Helios, its already translucent form becoming even more transparent under the impact of oceanic divine power. Its raspy voice was filled with urgency.
“Your Majesty, True Ancestor… Run!”
“Run? Haha, do you really think the seal of the Dreamy Moon’s Heart is that easy to break?”
Helios sneered. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Looking down from above at the weakening Guardian Scepter under the crushing force of oceanic power, it coldly said,
“Very well, since you’ve shown yourself, let’s settle our thousand-year score, and reclaim the authority that rightfully belongs to me.”
With those words, Helios raised the Sea King’s Trident once more.
This time, it was aimed at the Guardian Scepter.
An immense storm of sea divine power gathered around the trident, creating a powerful vortex of divine power.
The clouds churned, space warped, and a sea-blue radiance flared as the trident, like a swimming dragon, shot towards the Guardian Scepter, whose expression instantly changed.
The terrifying divine power exploded, crushing everything in its path, consuming the Guardian Scepter.
“God said, ‘Let there be light.’”
At that moment, another voice chanted.
Ethereal, calm, majestic, yet imbued with an indescribable sense of supremacy and cold detachment.
A dazzling holy light erupted, far more radiant and vast than ever before.
A platinum pillar of light shot up into the sky, breaking through the ocean that hovered above, tearing through the silver moon high in the heavens, and piercing the clouded sky.
Golden sunlight penetrated the clouds, casting endless rays of light upon the sea below.
Amid the holy platinum light, Charlotte’s black divine gown transformed into a platinum saintess dress, and with a single hand, she blocked the trident that had been aimed at the Guardian Scepter.
Seeing the girl emerge from the Dreamy Moon’s Heart, bathed in brilliant holy light, Helios finally showed a change of expression.
“You… broke free of the seal of the Dreamy Moon’s Heart?! Impossible!”
But he quickly composed himself.
“It’s the holy power! You actually broke free using holy power!”
As he observed the divine energy surrounding Charlotte, Helios was visibly shaken, his expression turning grim.
The Dreamy Moon’s Heart was one of the most powerful sealing artifacts on the continent of Myria.
With the appropriate sacrificial offering, it could seal anything.
However, the offering was both the key and the weakness.
If the sealed target possessed another power equal to or stronger than the sacrificial source, there was a possibility of breaking the seal.
But that “other power” had to be just as powerful as the source.
So…
“No… Impossible! Even borrowing holy power from a divine artifact shouldn’t have allowed you to break the seal of the Dreamy Moon’s Heart, much less wield such vast holy power…”
Helios stared wide-eyed at Charlotte.
“You… you didn’t borrow holy power from a divine artifact! You’ve gained control over holy power! You’ve stolen the faith network’s holy power!”
“You… have become one of the Gods of the Holy Court!”
As if to affirm Helios’ deduction, the wisdom artifact, the Guardian Scepter, retreated a step, standing behind Charlotte in a servant-like manner, with a posture of utmost respect.
Its expression had returned to normal, completely lacking the panic it had shown earlier.
Clearly, it had only been acting.
Boundless holy power swirled around Charlotte, and even without the blood divine power, her presence had not diminished in the slightest.
Looking at Charlotte, who had become almost one with the holy light, Helios grew increasingly enraged.
“Impossible! This is impossible! Without my permission, how could you possess the authority over holy power?! How could you become a God of the Holy Court?!”
Suddenly, as if recalling something, he cast a furious glance at the Guardian Scepter by Charlotte’s side.
“It was you! You helped her! What are you, exactly?! How can you manipulate my rightful authority?!”
“I… am but an ordinary wisdom artifact, loyal to my duty.”
The Guardian Scepter said calmly, bowing slightly.
Helios grew even more furious.
As if piecing things together, his expression darkened with anger, and his voice filled with bitter hatred.
“Harald! Damn it! It must be Harald! That traitor! That fool!”
Helios spat curses.
But he quickly regained his composure.
He cast a sinister gaze at Charlotte, gripping the Sea King’s Trident tightly, his raspy voice filled with icy malice.
“Nyx, I didn’t expect you to have this up your sleeve, but… the oceanic divine realm is already in place. Even if you’ve broken free of the Dreamy Moon’s Heart and stolen the authority of holy power, today you will still fall!”
With that, he raised the Sea King’s Trident again, divine power surging around him.
Charlotte’s expression remained calm.
She glanced at the surging ocean around them and suddenly spoke.
“Helios, do you know why the Sea King’s Trident can only exert its full power within the ‘ocean’?”
Helios paused, slightly taken aback.
He didn’t answer, and Charlotte gave the answer first.
“Oceanus once told me this.”
“The Sea King’s Trident was forged from the teeth of the Creator God, granting it immense power. However, it’s also a special wisdom artifact.”
“A wisdom artifact has a spirit, and only when that spirit merges with the artifact itself can it unleash its full potential.”
“The Sea King’s Trident is so powerful that its spirit has long since become a living being. It usually lives apart from its body, and only when summoned does a trace of its true essence return to the trident through the ocean, serving as a stand-in for the spirit…”
“And the ridiculous part is, you’ve never understood what the spirit of the Sea King’s Trident actually is.”
With that, a radiant flash of light appeared in Charlotte’s hand, revealing a crystal conch.
She gently blew into it, and a deep, resonant sound echoed out. In the next moment, the Sea King’s Trident began to tremble violently, radiating even more dazzling blue light.
A shadowy figure, resembling an octopus, faintly appeared on the trident.
