Grand Voyage : Surviving on a Ghost Ship-Chapter 118 - Recovery
Suna held a torch as she walked towards the tent.
Beside her was the massive, stitched monstrosity, dragging behind it a small crystalline mountain, as well as Yang Yi, who lay in a sleeping bag.
He was too tall to fit inside of it, so they had to tear it open and use it as a mat instead…
As she moved forwards, Suna fiddled with the Ice Egg that Yang Yi had given her, testing its properties.
It was incredible. While holding it, she could completely ignore the white mist! But the moment she let go, the mist reappeared.
It confirmed that the white mist was indeed a spell, a large-scale vision-obscuring magic.
And the white crystal inside the Ice Egg seemed to act as a pass, allowing the holder to bypass the mist.
Not only that, but it remained permanently cold… Absolutely unbelievable!
Suna was eager to conduct thorough research on it when they got back.
Three hours later.
The two finally returned to their previous campsite.
The tent was still standing, though lightly covered in snow. While the cold had deepened, it was still manageable.
Suna dragged Yang Yi inside the tent, then began preparing a fire.
This military-grade tent was designed to accommodate an indoor stove, with a collapsible exhaust pipe that vented outside.
Previously, they had avoided using the stove for fear that the firelight would attract Ice Nest worms.
Since there were no Ice Nest worms nearby, not a single one had been drawn in by the massive blaze Yang Yi had started earlier.
Suna quickly assembled the stove and exhaust pipe, then threw in several spare torches.
She also broke apart a firebomb, pouring the oil into the stove to extend the burn time.
Once everything was set, she tossed in a dying torch, using it as a starter.

Fortunately, they had prepared plenty of torches in advance. Otherwise, they would have run out of fuel by then.
As the flames roared to life, the tent’s temperature began rising.
The snow covering the tent acted as insulation, helping the interior warm up to 7–8°C.
Meanwhile, Yang Yi lay on the sleeping bag, monitoring his status panel.
His mana and blood were recovering slowly, most likely due to the severity of his burns.
Regeneration potions weren’t very effective against burns and frostbite, they were more suited for emergency use.
To truly heal burn wounds, magic was necessary.
Once his mana recovered, he planned to use the Healing Flames spell to accelerate his recovery.
This spell was particularly effective against burns and frostbite, though it came with drawbacks, as it left scars and drained a bit of mana and blood.
His skin was already burned, who cared about scars?
All he could do was rely on his werewolf regeneration and hope his skin would regrow.
Thirty minutes later.
Suna had been experimenting with the Ice Egg for quite some time, without success.
When she tossed it into the stove, it didn’t melt at all, in fact, it nearly extinguished the fire!
Because she lacked proper testing conditions, she finally gave up and put it away.
Then, she pulled out a sleeping bag from Yang Yi’s roasted stomach pouch, climbed in, and lay down to rest.
The previous battle had drained her significantly, especially since she had handled all the post-battle cleanup.
Meanwhile, the stitched monstrosity was ordered to patrol the area, standing guard around the tent.
As soon as Suna fell asleep, the tent became eerily silent, save for the crackling fire and the occasional pop of burning wood.
Yang Yi continued waiting for his mana to recover.
It seemed that the werewolf regeneration had its limits — it couldn’t fully heal severe burns. It simply delayed death rather than prevented it.
Fortunately, the decline was slow, roughly one point of mana and blood lost every 40–60 minutes.
That meant he had enough time.
If only he had a potion that could restore mana… The thought suddenly crossed his mind.
He immediately sent a private message to Suna, asking if she could try developing a mana-restoration potion.
Her response came quickly. Clearly, she wasn’t asleep yet.
"I’ve considered it, but I have no leads for now. mana isn’t something tangible, you can’t see or touch it, so I don’t even know where to begin."
"Got it. We’ll see if we can find similar potions or formulas in the future."
"Your mana and blood are dropping."
"I know. I can use healing magic. I should have enough time."
Four hours later.
Yang Yi’s mana finally recovered to 4 points, and more importantly his vision returned.
After transforming into a werewolf, not only had his regeneration improved, but even his vision recovery time had shortened!
Struggling to get up, he found that his sleeping bag had stuck to his body.
As he peeled it off, pieces of flesh came away with it. (1)
It didn’t matter, because he could finally use magic to heal himself.
"Healing Flames!"
Yang Yi shouted loudly, and flames engulfed his entire body.
The fire burned for a few seconds before dying out, not setting him ablaze and turning him into a human torch.
His mana and blood dropped by a few points, falling to 12, then stabilised before slowly climbing back up to 13.
Yang Yi let out a long breath.
He had survived.
After using the spell a few times, Yang Yi began to understand its properties.
It seemed to summon a special type of flame — one that only burned wounds, forming a sturdy charred layer to seal them.
It also destroyed bacteria, neutralised toxins, and could even dispel curses.
Aside from that, the fire would not ignite other objects unless they were highly flammable, like pitch, oil, or alcohol.
Now that he had recovered, Yang Yi began assessing his losses from the battle.
"Looks like I'll have to go on a big shopping spree… Maybe I should invest in fire-resistant gear this time."
Yang Yi muttered to himself.
Now that he was no longer in immediate danger, his tense nerves relaxed, and fatigue hit him hard.
He pulled his thick winter coat over himself like a blanket, lay down, and finally fell into a deep sleep.
Four hours later.
Yang Yi woke up and immediately sat up, checking his status panel.
His mana and blood had recovered to over 50, meaning he was halfway healed.
Parts of the charred layer on his skin had peeled off, revealing newly regenerated skin and werewolf fur beneath.
It seemed that his werewolf regeneration was quite effective after all!
By the fire, Suna glanced at him and asked,
"Are you planning to stay in werewolf form forever?"
"Oh, right!"
Yang Yi suddenly remembered that he could revert back.
With the sound of bones shifting and grinding, his body rapidly shrank.
His large, clawed werewolf hands reverted into human hands, and he transformed back into his human form.
Except for a few remaining patches of charred skin, there were no obvious traces of his werewolf state, except…
"Your tail is still there," Suna pointed out.
"Huh?"
Yang Yi blinked in confusion and finally noticed his tailbone still had a burnt, furless werewolf tail hanging from it. (2)
He focused and tried to retract it.
After some effort, the tail slowly withdrew into his body…a very bizarre sensation.
