Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 857: Will of the World (Ko-fi Bonus Chapter)
Chapter 857: Will of the World (Ko-fi Bonus Chapter)
Golden rays of the morning sun filtered through the window, gently brushing against Adam’s face and stirring him from his deep sleep.
The raven-haired youth’s eyelids quivered ever so slightly. He slowly opened his eyes, his gaze landing on the uneven ceiling of the room.
He lay there on the bed for a long time, unable to comprehend what he had witnessed in his dream.
It was quite unbelievable, really.
He had never imagined witnessing something so... profound in the Outer Universe.
Yet, it seemed that planting that unassuming ash tree had set into motion consequences far beyond his expectations.
Adam ran a hand through his raven hair, his eyes flashing with lingering incredulity.
I can’t believe I just spoke to the will of the world, he thought to himself in a daze.
From the wisdom imparted to him by the experts of the Greater Universe, through the memories he had absorbed, Adam knew that planets, after reaching a certain threshold, grew sentience.
This was known as the will of the world,
However, for a planet to grow sentience, it would take it billions of years!
Across the Greater Universe, many planets had awakened to sentience. Some of the high-tier worlds, such as Myrrandor, had developed wills so profound that they could bestow powerful boons upon the rare Magi they chose to acknowledge.
Albeit relatively common in the Greater Universe, it was completely unheard of in the Outer Universe.
Just like in the Greater Universe, planets in the Outer Universe were also classified by a tier system. The planets were categorized according to the density of mana they possessed.
Low-tier planets had a negligible amount of mana. Such planets could never produce any Magi. The most they could birth were slightly powerful mortals.
Mid-tier planets had some amount of mana permeating the air. The mana ceiling in these planets allowed a Magus to, at most, reach the Mana Liquefaction Rank.
High-tier planets, such as Tron, had a decent amount of mana density. These planets would produce Magi that could reach the Mana Core Rank.
The conditions for a planet to gain sentience were simple: stability and mana density.
Stability came with age. That is why it took a planet billions, if not tens of billions, of years to gain sentience.
The higher the mana density, the greater the chance for a planet to develop sentience. Mana was a mystical force, boundless, enigmatic, and capable of birthing miracles.
It nurtured life, shaped landscapes, and in great enough concentrations, it could awaken the very consciousness of the world!
Tron was changing. Slowly, steadily, it was awakening. And Adam had unknowingly planted the seed that had given voice to this world.
If he had harbored any doubts about the Great Mother’s blessing upon the ash tree he had planted, they were gone now.
But with that certainty came a flood of questions. Far more than he could hope to answer.
So planting the seed of the ash tree allowed Tron to awaken, he thought, utterly dumbounded by the words forming in his mind.
Right, it was only possible because of the Great Mother’s blessings, but why would she...
He shook his head, returning to his previous train of thought.
The will of the world has just awoken, or rather, it has stirred in the recent past. No wonder it had taken the form of a child...
That could also, to some extent, explain why no powerful Magi had set foot in Constantine in this past decade.
It’s almost as if the world itself had conspired to shield this town from prying eyes!
The will of the world had subtly tugged the strings of fate to create the perfect outcome... one in which the ash tree could take root, undisturbed, and flourish.
Adam sat up on the bed, a grave expression appearing on his face. He closed his eyes and delved deep into the sea of inherited memories from the Greater Universe, sifting through every fragment related to the will of the world.
Moments passed in silence.
When he finally opened his eyes, his understanding about the topic had deepened... but so had his unease.
A chill ran down his spine, and the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end.
The will of the world was vast and boundless. The only thing it cared about was balance.
Its greatest power was that it could subtly pull the strings of fate to ensure the planet’s well-being.
The will of the world didn’t rewrite reality blatantly, it nudged it.
In essence, the will of the world was not a conscious being in the human sense, but a vast instinctive intelligence.
It understood survival and balance.
When the planet was endangered, it didn’t raise armies or forge weapons. Instead, it pulled on the invisible strings of fate, weaving outcomes that ensured its survival.
Those who posed a threat to the world would find misfortune befall them at every step.
And those who brought great benefit?
They would be subtly favored, guided by luck, shielded from danger, and blessed with opportunities that defied explanation.
Now that the will of Tron had awakened, it would no longer remain passive. It would begin to act, ensuring its own survival by whatever means necessary.
Balance.
That was its sole concern.
Harmony in growth, restraint in power.
No more, no less.
Such was the true might of the will of the world.
Silent, unseen, yet absolute!
This is too much to take in, Adam thought to himself as he massaged his forehead.
He turned towards the window and gazed at the towering ash tree. A faint smile found its way to the corner of his lips.
"Well, it’s not so bad to have the world have your back," he muttered under his breath.
He got up from his bed and quickly freshened up. Donning his Magus robes and placing the familiar black, pointy hat on his head, he stepped out toward the ash tree.
Though the will of the world had awakened and could now act on its own, he still felt it necessary to carve defensive runes around the tree. Just in case.
After completing the protective runic formation around the ash tree and instructing the members of the Brotherhood on the necessary steps moving forward, Adam felt a sense of finality.
It was time...
Time to return to Ravenfell.
