Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 860: Small World
Chapter 860: Small World
Sabrina’s eyebrows arched in surprise. "Ah, I see. So the two of you share quite a bit of history."
She suddenly thought of what the elf had just said and couldn’t help but ask curiously, "This old friend of yours in the Federation... Is his name Berger Glynhorn?"
Elrod directed a knowing smile at Sabrina Benton. He wasn’t surprised that she’d know about the gnome.
After all, Adam had now grown into a figure of immense power and influence, not just in Ravenfell, but across all of Ulier.
It was only natural that people would seek to learn more about him, especially the Lord Marshall of Ravenfell, whose duty was to ensure the city’s safety and stability.
When he thought of his old friend, Berger, with whom he had gone on several adventures during his youth, his heart was suddenly gripped by a sense of nervousness and foreboding.
Berger... I truly hope that you succeed.
He didn’t let his emotions show on his face, however. He looked at Sabrina and nodded. "Yes, it is him."
Elrod paused for a moment before continuing, "Not long after Adam enrolled at Clover Academy, he caught the eye of Berger and became his pupil, learning the art of herbalism from him."
"I see." Sabrina nodded in understanding. She flashed a faint smile, "Truly, such a small world we live in."
Suddenly, Edwin chimed in, his tone filled with pleasant surprise. "Elrod, you are Berger’s friend?!"
"Why, yes I am," The silver-haired elf replied with a chuckle, clearly amused by the burly old man’s bewildered expression.
The very next moment, he was left stunned. He saw the towering Edwin walk towards him with arms wide open and eyes glistening with emotion.
Before Elrod could react, Edwin had already pulled him into a tight hug! novelbuddy.cσ๓
"Kahaha!" the old man laughed out loud. "If you are Berger’s friend, then you are my friend as well. I’ve got to be honest with you, you seemed quite annoying until a second ago, but now... Kahaha, we are friends!"
Elrod stood there, dumbfounded. The rest of the Magi exchanged stunned glances, equally stunned by the unexpected display of affection.
What was happening?
What had gotten into Edwin Turner?
Did he drink too much?
"Lord Turner, please..." Elrod tried to get away, but the man’s grip was like a bear’s.
A few seconds later, Edwin let go. He thumped his chest and laughed out loud. "You may not know this, but Berger is a benefactor of my Turner Family."
He paused for a moment, the smile on his face gradually turning wry as he recalled the past. "You see, my precious daughter, Elia, once fell gravely ill with a deadly disease. I sought out countless Herbalists from across the Empire, but every one of them said the same thing - there was no hope..."
Hearing him recount such a deeply personal story, Elrod, who was about to express his dissatisfaction, swallowed the words in his mouth.
He, along with the rest of the Magi in the group, displayed slightly somber expressions as Edwin continued the story.
"Tsk, none of those damned bastards even bothered to try," Edwin sneered. "But Berger... no, he was different.
"Despite knowing that the disease was incurable, he still fulfilled his duties as a true Herbalist. For fifteen years! He treated my dear Elia and kept her alive for fifteen whole years!"
"What happened then?" Asked Pell Morgan, his tone solemn. "Did your daughter..."
"Kahaha!" Edwin laughed out loud. "No, she’s alive! She was cured!"
"That’s good to know." Pell Morgan revealed a faint smile. "So this Herbalist named Berger managed to cure a seemingly incurable disease, eh?
"I would certainly like to meet him someday and discuss the arcane arts. I am also curious to see just what kind of man could raise such a splendid Magus as the Dark King."
"Ah, he’s grumpy! Real grumpy!" Edwin waved his hand dismissively. Then, his lips formed a warm smile. "But he’s kind at heart and a true gentleman."
He then turned to the old man with the scholarly aura, Pell Morgan, and nonchalantly added, "Oh, by the way, it wasn’t he who cured my dear Elia. It was Adam."
Dropping such a conversational bomb so casually...
Needless to say, everyone was wildly taken aback.
"I beg your pardon?" Pell Morgan looked at him with a blank face. "A disease that even many of the Empire’s greatest Herbalists couldn’t cure was healed by a child of..."
He turned to Elrod and asked, "How old was the Dark King back then? Around fifteen-sixteen?"
Elrod silently nodded, finding the entire situation quite amusing. Of course, his reaction was also no different when he had learned of this from Berger all those years ago.
But still, it was nice to see others get dumbstruck like this. These were Mana Vortex Magi, after all. There were rarely things that truly shocked them.
"So, you’re telling me a fifteen-year-old child was able to cure your daughter when even aged Herbalists centuries older than him couldn’t?"
Edwin shrugged. "It’s true."
A strange silence settled over the group. Even Sabrina did not know about this. She was suddenly reminded of the time when Adam had cured the late patriarch of the Flynn Family who was poisoned by the spies from the Cult of Bones.
So that wasn’t the first time he was performing such... miracles?
She thought, her eyes flickering with lingering shock.
Right at that moment, Soner Pitt’s mocking words cut through the silence.
"Goodness gracious!" She exclaimed. "A mere child curing a seemingly incurable disease?"
She looked at Edwin and scoffed, "Lord Turner, now you are romanticizing the boy as well? What’s next? Are you going to tell me that the boy is capable of fighting Magi entire ranks above him?"
Sabrina Benton tried her best to stifle a chuckle. "Actually, he did exactly that."
Soner Pitt turned to her with a sneer. "This is getting out of hand now."
"It’s true whether you believe me or not," said the Lord Marshall with an amused smile on her lips.
"During the Duskfall Incident, Adam defeated a Mana Vortex Magus from the Cult of Bones. At the time, he was still just a Mana Liquefaction Magus."
Soner Pitt looked at her with an expressionless face.
A moment later, she sighed heavily. She turned to her student, Chris, and pushed her drink toward him.
Then, she turned around and walked away.
"I am so done with this nonsense."
