GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?-Chapter 2071: Son Of God.
The oracle was a direct message to him from the god of steam. Since he wasn't asleep, the god of steam couldn't send the message to him through his dreams.
The high priest had to receive the message without any buffer. This overwhelmed his mind and caused him to faint.
The high priest's eyes rolled in his head, and he slumped. So he couldn't send Legion's message for the meantime.
There were other priests in the church. But they were busy fussing over the high priest. No one was in the mood to send his letter yet.
They poured water on the high priest and fed him soup. They did a lot of things to wake him, which wasted 30 minutes of Legion's time.
When the high priest woke up, the first thing he did was send Legion's letter to Tesla. The weird thing was that he didn't take any money from Legion for the transmission.
Legion saved 10 silver coins. That was currently 10 weeks of pay for him. So his bad mood about being delayed was eased.
When the high priest said, "I hope you weren't offended because of the delay."
Legion smiled and said, "What delay? It is just a minor inconvenience not worth mentioning. I'm sure you were busy with more important matters."
He was just saying that to be nice. He doesn't think that the high priest and the other priests were busy with more important matters at all.
The high priest's fainting and the other priest's struggle to wake him up might be important, but he doesn't think it is more important than his business. However, he decided to say that it was more important because he was in a good mood.
The high priest was solemn as he said, "Actually, I was doing a very important matter. The god of steam sent me an oracle asking me to give you all the help I can for free. That was the reason why I didn't collect any fees for sending your letter."
The two of them were walking out of the church. The high priest was escorting him out after sending his letter.
They have reached outside the church now. So they have stopped to chat before they part ways.
Legion was surprised when he heard that he doesn't need to pay money anymore to send letters and do other things. But he was only surprised because he didn't expect it. He wasn't impressed.
His impression became lower when he heard what the high priest said next. "The god of steam's oracle was powerful, which was why I fainted. Can you imagine that? The god of steam was so anxious to send down that oracle that he didn't wait for me to sleep."
The high priest shook his head and said, "To be honest, I am jealous of you. You are not a machinist, yet you have already gained this much attention and favor from the god of steam. I can already imagine just how great things would be for you if you became a machinist."
"I am a machinist and a high priest to boot, yet I still have to pay one silver coin for using the altar to send letters to other machinists. This is a benefit for only machinists. That means I still have to pay the full ten silver coins if I send my letters to people who aren't machinists."
"You aren't a machinist, yet you can send letters to anyone for free. If you become a machinist, I am willing to bet that you will become a son of God. Do you know what that means?"
Of course Legion knew what that meant, but he didn't say anything. He was waiting for this farce between the god of steam and the priest to play out.
The high priest shook his head in wonder and said, "If you become a son of God, it means you can reach rank 10 and become a godling. You will not only have eternal life yourself, but you will also have the chance to become a subordinate god for the god of steam. How good will that be?"
This time, the question wasn't a rhetorical question. So Legion had to reply.
Legion acted as if he was stunned. He said, "Really? Are you sure?"
The high priest puffed up his chest and said proudly, "Of course I'm sure. The god of steam has never favored anyone the way he has favored you. You are blessed. With this much favor, you will be able to ascend through the ranks as soon as possible. In ten years you will become a demigod and gain eternal life."
Legion rolled his eyes inwardly. But outwardly, he was ecstatic. He said, "I must become a machinist."
The high priest smiled and nodded in agreement. "You should. I can help you become one as soon as possible."

Legion appeared to be very happy about that. He said, "That's great. I'll become a machinist after I have settled some things."
The high priest tried to convince him to become a machinist as soon as possible, preferably to start the process today. But he found one excuse or another to delay it.
Since things have reached this level, he didn't dare reject the offer outright. It was likely to anger the god of steam, which would backfire on him.
The high priest couldn't convince him to become a machinist today, so he gave up and said, "I'll wait for when you're ready. In the meantime, I would recommend that you set up an altar of the god of steam in your house."
"If you do that, I am sure that the god of steam will accept and sanctify your altar. That way you don't need to come here to send and receive your letters. You can do it from the ease of your home and take advantage of the free transmission of letters."
Legion smiled and said, "I will do that immediately. I'll go and do that now."
Then he rushed away in eagerness.
