GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?-Chapter 2167: Nobles And Knights.
No one fought yet because Captain Sheckel didn't want to fight, and Sir Bushwick was confident of victory and wanted to take his time to enjoy the fear and panic on Sheckel's face.
That's why he said, "I could spare you though. All you have to do is become my concubine. I will treat you well."
Captain Sheckel became angry when she heard that offer. Her face became gloomy, and she even growled in anger.
Sir Bushwick sighed and shook his head in pity. He said, "Suit yourself."
Then he declared, "From now for the next ten minutes, the rank 3 divine ability of the pathway of justice called the Fire of Sin won't work in the area that is 100 meters around me."
He wasn't done yet. He made another solemn declaration. "From now for the next ten minutes, the rank 1 divine ability of the pathway of justice called the Shackles won't work in the area that is 100 meters around me."
Those weren't ordinary declarations. They were empowered by the Rank 3 divine ability of the pathway of nobles called Setting Rules.
The rules are temporary. The greater their effect, the greater the power needed to execute them, and the higher the cost of spiritual energy needed to maintain.
He could have tried to banish the pathway of justice entirely around him. But it would have surely failed as he would be contending with the power of the god of justice by abolishing the whole pathway.
So he limited the rules he set to just two divine abilities. He also set a time limit and an area of effect in order to reduce the spiritual energy needed to execute the rules and reduce the consumption of spiritual energy needed to maintain the rules.
Normally, nobles can set up and maintain a maximum of five rules at once. Unfortunately, Sir Bushwick has only mastered the rank 3 divine ability by 10%, so he can only set up two rules.
Even so, these two rules are lethal to the judges around him because the two divine abilities that he restrained are their most offensive and restrictive divine abilities.
Captain Sheckel's already gloomy face became worse. She gritted her teeth in so much anger that her teeth began to ache.
She felt like rushing up and cutting Bushwick down, but she didn't do that because the restriction on her divine abilities is temporary. If she can delay for 10 minutes, then she might have a chance to turn the tables.
Sir Bushwick, on the other hand, was grinning ear to ear. He liked seeing her angry face a lot.
He could have set the rules before arriving. so that she wouldn't know what rules he set and how long they would last. But he wanted her to know just how doomed she is before she dies.
He prioritized pleasure over swift victory. But he didn't forget to begin the battle.
He said to Sir Charles, "Take her down."
Sir Charles was a rank 3 knight. He was dressed like a knight. His attire was a black and imposing full plate armor. The nine rank 2 knights behind him were also wearing the same armor.
Sir Charles replied to Bushwick, "Yes, my lord."
Then he said to the knights behind him, "Are you ready for battle?"
The knights assented by roaring.
Sir Charles felt his blood boil as his men roared for battle. He grinned and said, "I will enjoy this."
Then he activated his rank 1 divine ability called Chains of Unity. This caused thin golden chains to sprout out from his back like tentacles.
The golden chains spread outwards from his back and touched every knight behind him. The chains sank into their flesh and connected the knights to Sir Charles. Then the chains began to drain their power for Sir Charles.
The drained power settled in Sir Charles and made his power soar quickly. His power increased until he reached rank 4. This is the effect of the chains of unity.
After getting this power, Sir Charles shouted to his men, "Move out."
He rushed out to meet Captain Sheckel. Because of one divine ability, a rank 3 godclad dared to face and fight a rank 4 godclad.
To be fair, the chains of unity is a powerful divine ability. It is one of the reasons why the god of justice was able to overpower the god of killing.
Besides that, Captain Sheckel has been handicapped too. Two of her divine abilities have been lost, so she is barely a rank 4 godclad.
To top things off, her rank 4 divine ability can't be used against someone weaker than her or of equal strength to her. That's why Sir Bushwick didn't bother to restrict it apart from the fact that it would be more difficult to restrict a rank 4 divine ability.
So she has been checkmated. But things only got worse for the lamp bearers when Sir Bushwick activated another divine ability of his.
Bushwick looked at the nine lamp bearers standing behind Sheckel and said, "Lay down your weapon and die."
This was the rank 2 divine ability called Noble Suppression. It reduced the power of his enemies by one level.
This suppression could be a reduction in strength, speed, perception, spiritual power, or all of them. The specific reduction is dependent on the difference in power between the noble and the targets of suppression.
Most of the lamp bearers were rank 2, so the suppression made their physical power drop to rank 1 immediately. There was also some reduction in their spiritual power.
Sir Bushwick used two divine abilities in a row without moving, and he succeeded in reducing the firepower of his enemies by half. Now the 12 people he brought with him have outnumbered the lamp bearers by 2 to 1.
Charles finally reached Captain Sheckel. He raised his sword and slashed it at her. She managed to block it with the staff in her hand, but she couldn't overpower him with her strength.
