Harry Potter: The Legend of Nero Ravenclaw-Chapter 94: A New Destination
Chapter 94 - 94: A New Destination
Japan.
A land of ancient arts.
A land where tradition and power intertwined in ways the Western world barely understood.
And now, it would become the land where he would face the Void before it consumed him.
Nero leaned back in his chair, letting the weight of it all sink in.
His fingers drummed idly against the wooden armrest, a slow, rhythmic tap that betrayed the storm of thoughts raging within him.
"So," he finally said, voice steady despite the turmoil beneath. "You want me to go to Mahoutokoro."
Dumbledore smiled, the twinkle in his eyes returning.
"Absolutely, Nero. Though, more than the school itself... it is the person I want you to meet that will be key to your survival."
That caught Nero's full attention.
Dumbledore's words weren't just casual suggestions, they were deliberate, carefully chosen. If he was saying that someone was 'key to his survival,' then there was no mistaking the severity of the situation.
Dumbledore continued, voice calm yet firm.
"He is an old friend of mine. I have already reached out to him, and he has promised to guide you to the best of his ability."
A pause.
Then, with deliberate care, Dumbledore uttered a name.
"Muzen."
Silence.
Nero's fingers stopped drumming. He sat up straighter.
Muzen.
The air in the room felt heavier.
The name carried a weight of its own, a presence so vast that even speaking it aloud felt like invoking something immense.
There was only one Muzen in the world of magic.
"...You mean," Nero said slowly, as if confirming the impossible, "Muzen. As in, the Muzen. The only Legend-ranked wizard in Japan."
Dumbledore nodded.
A shiver of excitement ran through Nero's spine.
A Legend.
One of the strongest sorcerers alive.
Publicly, there were only nine confirmed wizards at this rank today:
-Two in America
-Two in Russia
-One in France
-One in Germany
-One in China
-One in Japan
-One in Britain
And yet, it had become obvious that this list was incomplete.
Nero knew at least two other names missing from it: Voldemort and Jonathan.
In this world of magic, it was clear that not every powerful sorcerer wished to be known.
Even among the 'Legends,' there were secrets.
But Muzen...
Even among them, Muzen was different.
Japan's magic had the reputation of being elusive to outsiders.
Their philosophies, their casting methods, their way of perceiving the very nature of magic, it was reputedly alien to the structured approach of the West.
And Muzen?
Muzen was a man who had rarely left Japan, yet his name alone was enough to make the strongest wizards in the world wary.
Especially knowing that he had once fought two Legend-ranked wizards at the same time.
And neither side had won.
It was one thing to be recognized as powerful.
It was another thing entirely to be feared even by those at the pinnacle.
For the first time in the past few days, Nero felt something besides uneasiness.
Anticipation.
The opportunity to meet such a man. To learn from him.
It was beyond anything he could have expected.
His blood was thrumming with excitement.
"...I'll do it," he said without hesitation.
Dumbledore smiled approvingly.
"I expected nothing less."
Nero let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.
Despite the gravity of the situation, he felt something akin to relief.
In his past life, he had spent over a decade living in Japan. He had walked its streets, spoken its language, and immersed himself in its customs.
Returning to Japan as a student of magic...
It felt right.
It was a strange sort of full circle.
He took a deep breath.
"Grandpa... what kind of magic is taught at Mahoutokoro?"
Dumbledore's eyes twinkled with mischief.
"I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, Nero."
Nero groaned.
Of course, the old man would leave him hanging.
"Very helpful," he muttered.
Dumbledore chuckled, standing up and brushing imaginary dust off his robes.
"I recommend that you take a day to say goodbye to your friends and cancel any projects you had planned for this summer. I will handle the paperwork between Hogwarts and Mahoutokoro."
Nero gave a grateful nod.
"Thank you, Grandpa."
Then, a thought struck him.
"What about the Bullock investigation?"
Dumbledore's expression turned serious.
"At the moment, you cannot afford to divert your attention, Nero. The Void is your priority. Once you have stabilized your control over it, I promise, I will involve you again."
Nero hesitated.
His instincts screamed at him to see this case through.
But deep down, he knew Dumbledore was right.
This wasn't about curiosity.
This was about survival.
That evening, he reached out to the people he had made plans with over the summer.
First was Dr. Evelyn Hart.
An internationally renowned Legilimency master, personally recommended by Dumbledore. He had been looking forward to studying under her, but now...
He penned a polite letter, explaining that urgent circumstances required him to postpone their meeting.
Her reply was swift.
"I understand, Nero. Life has a way of altering plans. Whenever the time is right, I will be happy to meet you. Take care of yourself."
Nero exhaled in relief.
One down.
Next, Professor Vellian.
A brilliant researcher in advanced apparition techniques.
She, too, took the news well.

"No worries, Nero. I'll be here whenever you want to dive into advanced apparition theory again. Focus on your current task."
Two down.
Professor Vekor, however...
His reply came stained with tears.
"Nero, my dear boy, do not forsake barriers! I shall await your return, and when you do, WE SHALL TRAIN FOR 24 HOURS A DAY IF NECESSARY!"
Nero chuckled, shaking his head.
He could feel the power of youth radiating from his professor's letter.
He quickly penned a response, assuring the overly dramatic professor that he wasn't abandoning barriers.
Finally, Sebastian Drake.
The legendary Gringotts curse-breaker.
Nero had been learning a tremendous amount from him this year.
To his surprise, Drake's reply was far more interesting than expected.
"Japan, huh? Sounds fun. If you ever want to break some curses over there, let me know. I'd love to stretch my legs."
Nero grinned.
Breaking curses in Japan?
That sounded very tempting.
He'd have to take him up on that offer once things settled.
For now, though, there was only one thing left to do.
His next task would be more personal.
Saying goodbye to his friends.
And preparing for what lay ahead.
