Chapter 53: Kiera & Nyla III

Kiera exhaled slowly, trying to compose herself, her grip tightening around Nyla as she prepared to finish the story.

"Well, sis... the Antmen that attacked us earlier... They were more than we could handle. We had no chance, and Mother knew that."

Nyla swallowed hard when she heard the news, her voice breaking as she asked.

"Then what happened to her?"

When that question came, Kiera closed her eyes as she slowly exhaled, her voice quiet.

"To be honest with you, sis... I don’t know, but given mother’s prior condition and tonight invasion on the village, we can only hope for her safety, but I am being honest and real here, I am expecting the worse...you saw how badly hurt she was after she got infected by the Bloom, and to make things even worse her last fight, basically crippled her for life."

"D-DONT SAY THAT SiS!!"

Nyla lashed out, but Kiera had to snap her little sister out of her delusional thinking.

"Then what do you want me to say?...

Said Keira as she gave her a serious look, and then continued.

"You want me to say that mom’s alright, that she is doing ok?"

Said Kiera, as tears started to flow down her eyes. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

If this was just a bad dream, she wanted nothing more than to wake up, but sadly, this was her reality, and it was as real as the Miasma around them.

"Sis... you know as well as I do that her injuries are so bad, you can basically say it would be a miracle if she even lives another year."

Kiera, at this moment, was quite brutal, and her honesty hurts in more ways than one.

But this was the truth.

"Please don’t cry... Mother wouldn’t want this for us... for you or me."

She said, wiping the tears from her sister’s sobbing face, and then continued.

"But what I said is true... Her condition was terrible, and the situation was even worse. She even ordered all the children to flee the village, forcing them to fend for themselves so the adults could handle things without the burden of protecting us. That was a tough decision for her, you know."

Said Kiera.

Meanwhile, Nyla had a defeated expression on her face at this moment.

She does not want to accept this, but what can she do but listen?

"Well, Sis, it’s not all bad...we still got each other...we are still alive, even if the chance of our family being dead is high, but dead or alive, they will forever stay in our memories."

"Yeah...sniff...you are right... sniff...

Nyla said, her tears not ending, and her emotions were bursting out like a crack dam.

As Nyla looked at her arm, she raised it up, confused as to how she grew back a missing arm and legs. And as far as she knows, neither werewolves, nekomatas, Sucidal Nekowolves have the ability of regeneration.

So she has to ask.

"By the way sissy...um how are my limbs still intact, didn’t they you know....

Kiera’s expression softened, relief mixed with exhaustion in her gaze. She hesitated, then turned toward Adam, who was still leaning against the tree, watching silently.

"...It was him."

She said quietly.

Nyla blinked, following Kiera’s gaze until her eyes landed on Adam. For a long moment, she just stared with vivid confusion, as if to say, isn’t he just a child, though.

Adam, arms still crossed, raised an eyebrow at the attention but said nothing. He had no intention of making a big deal out of it.

Kiera, however, continued for him.

"He used some kind of healing magic on you. I don’t know the details, but... it was for sure ain’t normal magic... your body wasn’t supposed to recover as fast as it did, even with advanced magic... And yet, here you are."

Nyla’s breath hitched as she looked back at her hands, clenching them into fists before relaxing them again.

"...You did this?"

She asked with a surprised look on her face.

Adam finally spoke, his tone casual, almost indifferent.

"Ahhh...yeah."

Just that, nothing more, nothing less.

Nyla frowned, her emotions still raw, but something about Adam’s nonchalant attitude irritated her for some reason.

"That’s it?"

She asked with a deadpan face.

Adam looked at her and again replied.

"Yeah...

"...What a weird guy, sis."

She said, looking at Kiera, who just laughed dismissively.

Adam shrugged, then sighed as he said.

"What else do you want me to say?"

Yet again, Nyla looked at him and said.

"I don’t know, healing limbs seems pretty cool to me! Maybe act like it’s a big deal, brag about it, that what most of the kids do in the village anyways when they get a lore ability?!"

However, Adam just rubbed his head and replied.

"Why would I brag.... Actions speak louder than words anyways."

"Fair point."

"Valid reason."

Nyla and Kiera both said.

Finally, after some time, Nyla got up and bowed in gratitude as she looked at Adam and said.

"...Thank you!! Really and truly, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you."

Adam just gave a slight nod in return and said.

"No problem... I am glad I was able to reach here in time."

Right after, Kiera and Nyla went to the side to disgust something, among themselves, leaving Adam by the same tree near the river bank he was leaning back against.

The distant hum of the forest, the crackling with movement, on the other hand, however, both the twins, came back, both of which were holding hands.

Causing Adam to shift his focus on the two.

With Nyla giving him curious glances, and asks.

"Is it true? You’re from the Shinso family?"

Adam remained leaned against the tree, arms folded, his expression unreadable as always. He gave a slight nod before pushing himself off the trunk with a casual ease.

"Yeah."

He answered simply.

"That’s what I told her."

Said Adam as he looked towards Kiera.

Kiera crossed her arms and sighed.

"It’s not like I can confirm it, but he doesn’t seem like a liar. And with the way he fights, if anyone told me he was a Shinso, I wouldn’t argue. I seen it for myself, hell the scars of his last attack is still right infront of us."

Keria said, as she looked at the massive 300 meters deep, and wide crater infront of them, the rivers black miasma water, flood into it already but it was massive.

Nyla, the same way, but if he really did do that, then it proves he was strong as hell... to them at least...he was a tiny monster, even monster species like them.

Adam let out a small chuckle, seeing their scared face. It was kind of cute, but alas, he didn’t linger, as soon after, he began properly introducing himself again, this time not to Kiera alone, but to the both of them.

"The name’s Adam Novels."

He said.

"That’s the name Minerva gave me. But officially, I go by Shinso Adam."

His gaze flickered toward Nyla, then to Kiera, before he continued.

"I came here to deliver a letter to the Nekowolf King on Minerva’s orders... but it looks like I walked into a mess instead."

Nyla blinked, her mind racing as she said.

"You have a letter for father."
