Heaven Refining physique-Chapter 105: Grade 7 Spirit Herb
Chapter 105: Grade 7 Spirit Herb
It was still falling headfirst to the ground due to the strength of Huan Caiyi, so it was impossible for it to dodge.
Forget about dodging—the black dot was so close right now that it couldn’t even close its eyelids.
It gritted its teeth and waited for the pain it would feel, In his thoughts it was just equal to a dust particle for it anyway.
The moment it touched its eye, a black sphere formed which covered its whole left eye, which was about 4 meters in size.
"Arghhhhh—wooooooooo....."
A blood-curdling howl tore through the forest, sharp and broken—a dying cry that echoed with unbearable pain.
Although the Nihility Sphere wasn’t able to completely refine the turtle shell in one attack before, it was a different matter if it was the eye itself, even if the beast was of Grade 6.
This was enough. Jiang Hao backed down and ran a little farther.
He didn’t have to though. The moment the beast’s attention was totally diverted because of pain, it had already lost this fight. Huan Caiyi, who was below its neck, took out another sword. This one was peak Grade 6.
The sword shone with intense brightness and warmth. Although it was like a toothpick for the wolf due to its size, it was still enough. Huan Caiyi plunged the sword into its neck, and after entering, the sword released intense flames which burned far deeper than the sword could reach.
The moment the sword entered its throat, it knew it couldn’t survive, so it immediately left its body in its nascent form. But Huan Caiyi was even faster. After plunging the sword, she appeared above its head. She knew that it would definitely try to flee using its nascent soul.
The speed of a nascent soul is much higher than their original speed, so after coming to the top of its head, she used a fireball which expanded immediately, covering more than its head. The moment the soul of the beast left its body, it was met with orange flames which were enough to burn it to cinders.
Although the speed of a nascent soul is faster, its strength is far weaker and very easy to kill if one has a way to block it.
Letting go of its nascent soul would have been detrimental for their plan of hunting more spirit beasts, as it would have definitely reported this matter to the territory lord.
Huan Caiyi took a deep breath, and after checking that no other spirit beasts were coming here, she relaxed. Their plan was successful.
She came down and took the whole beast into her storage bag. They would extract its core later. Jiang Hao also came close, and they started climbing the mountain instead of going toward the bottom where the valley was. The peak was very high, so it would take time.
This didn’t discourage them, as they had already found a Mistfur Wolf. Not to mention, they had killed it successfully without attracting any attention, so it was quite a successful endeavour till now.
Nothing much happened while climbing. They saw some spirit herbs, but every single one of them was guarded by a spirit beast. These spirit herbs definitely belonged to the territory lord if they were guarded by more than one beast.
Although the level of the beasts was lower than the Mistfur Wolf, they didn’t attack them, as there was more than one beast, and one of the beasts was a rodent which could easily escape from them.
They kept their pace until they finally came near the peak. The peak was covered in dark clouds. A lot of thunder was falling on the peak. Although it looked natural, the intensity with which the thunder was hitting the ground was definitely not natural.
The other peaks weren’t covered in dark storm clouds—it was a more certain notion that there was something which was affecting it to happen.
Huan Caiyi had a pretty solid guess what it was. It was definitely a Heavenly King Realm or above spirit-grade herb. Only they are capable of affecting nature itself other than specific arrays. And given that this was a forbidden zone, it was definitely not an array.
They climbed to the top, and after moving for some time, they came in front of a clearing where a lion was lying down in front of a spirit herb, which was getting hit by thunder occasionally.
The lion had wings on its back, and its eyes were closed, but it definitely wasn’t sleeping right now.
"It’s also a peak Grade 6, and it’s a Golden Winged Lion—again, a rare bloodline. The spirit herb is mid-stage Heavenly King Realm. Interesting."
"What should we do, Senior?"
"Killing it would be impossible. We are at the peak of this mountain. For us to come here easily will be dubious, so it won’t fall for the previous trick. Also, taking that spirit herb seems impossible too.
I can distract it, but you won’t be able to pluck that herb. Don’t think that you will be able to withstand that lightning strike. It has enough strength to vaporize Grade 5 beasts. Even Grade 6 beasts wouldn’t be able to handle it."
True, Jiang Hao could already feel immense danger from those lightning strikes. But there was a way he could really take that spirit herb—if only Huan Caiyi allowed him, that is.
Well, it’s worth a shot.
"Senior, I can pluck that spirit herb easily. All I have to do is touch the spirit herb and I can store it directly into the ring. Even if lightning falls on me, this ring will protect me."
He always avoided using this function unless necessary. Unlike teleportation, it can only protect him three times a day and it doesn’t work on his qi. It doesn’t matter if the attacks are weak or strong, so wasting it for a weak attack like this lightning would be wasteful.
So, if necessary, he would rather try to teleport away before the lightning fell. With his peerless instincts, it was feasible, so he would try to do that.
"Fine then, distracting it isn’t hard. After you pluck the herb, teleport to this location. I will meet you here."
Jiang Hao nodded.
This time Huan Caiyi didn’t walk out like the previous time but directly disappeared and appeared above the lion’s head. Although the lion wasn’t using spirit sense, it still felt the movement of qi when Huan Caiyi appeared, so it was already ready to receive her attack.
Jiang Hao waited for Huan Caiyi to take it away from the spirit herb. He didn’t need much time to pull off what he was trying to do, but if the lion was too close, then it might use a wide-range attack which would disrupt his plans.
The fight was intense this time, as Huan Caiyi didn’t want to hide anyway. They were baout to leave after this, and the lion would be alive, so two humans roaming in the forbidden zone would be known in this territory at least. As for other territories, she couldn’t say for sure.
Since it was still the border area, it wouldn’t create much ruckus, as it would be considered natural for some strong human cultivators to arrive in search of resources. Since they are only two it wouldn’t affect the forbidden zone much.
She veered off from the spirit herb slowly while still defending and attacking relentlessly, appearing as normal as she could so that the lion would think she was serious about their fight and forget about the spirit herb, for the time being.
She didn’t have to worry too much though. This lion was similar to the wolf in that it also wanted to eat her.
It had used its spirit sense to check its surroundings, but since Jiang Hao was still more than 100 meters away from their location, it wasn’t able to sense him.
True, it might have been able to sense Jiang Hao if he was a normal mortal at this distance, as even mortals have life qi inside them along with blood qi, but Nirvana Veil even masks that out. So, farther than 100 meters, it is impossible to be sensed by the spirit sense of a Grade 6 beast.
And since it hadn’t sensed any other creature or human near the mountain other than this lone human it was fighting, it didn’t care for the spirit herb. In fact, it was also eager to go a little further, as it didn’t want to damage the herb—or it would definitely become food for the territory lord.
And since both of them wanted to get away from the spirit herb, they easily arrived far enough for Jiang Hao to pull off what he wanted. He couldn’t see their fight even after reaching the Core Formation Realm—only sounds and occasional appearances were seen during their collisions.
He put his eyes on the spirit herb. After watching for a while, he knew that at least four or five lightning strikes happened on an average of ten seconds. So if he had to guess, then he had about two seconds of time to pluck this spirit herb. It was an easy feat, but the strikes were random and sometimes they struck consecutively.
So he gave himself one second to complete this theft. He waited for lightning to strike, and in the next second, it happened. And just as it hit the spirit herb, Jiang Hao disappeared from his location.
And when the lightning strike ended, he was standing in front of the spirit herb.
