Heaven Refining physique-Chapter 132: Blink of an Eye
Chapter 132: Blink of an Eye
Jiang Hao became speechless inwardly. This monk was truly shameless. He sighed; there was no reason to argue with them.
He looked towards all the cultivators who were inside the array and surrounding him. There were thirteen from Ethereal Cloud Sanctuary, eleven from Azure Sky Sect, and seven from this unknown monastery.
There were twelve peak-stage grade beasts, while some of the early-stage grade-four beasts waited outside the array as they couldn’t attack him.
He took out his sword and waited for any of them to move. There was no need for him to attack; they would do so on their own if they wanted to tire and waste his spirit qi.
As expected, just as he brought out his sword, he saw them bringing out their own weapons, most of which were spears and bows.
He had expected this much, as they wouldn’t want to get close to him unconditionally, not without wasting much of his time.
Arrows launched from a peak-grade-three weapon were fast, no doubt, but not so fast that he couldn’t see them. Even those coming from behind were easily perceived by his instincts. He executed the most simple movements and dodged every single one of them.
His battle sense might only work in close range, but the ways to dodge even the most sophisticated attacks had already been ingrained in him by Huan Caiyi.
Lots of cultivators had already come out to watch the show. They thought that being surrounded by the cultivators of top three sects of the world was enough to kill anyone. In fact, using thirty cultivators to surround one person seemed like overkill.
They were so certain it would end quickly and brutally. But when Jiang Hao dodged every single arrow with ease, as though he had seen through each one of them, they were stunned. None of them had the confidence to stand against even two cultivators using arrows, much less thirty. So it was truly shocking to see Jiang Hao do it.
Even Jing Tian hadn’t expected that. He hadn’t expected Jiang Hao to enter the trap which restricted his spirit qi. He thought Jiang Hao had some sort of plan, which was why he had stopped them here. But no, he entered the area of the array like he didn’t even know about it.
When he saw Jiang Hao surrounded by all these cultivators, he thought this might be it. Jiang Hao could definitely kill some of them, but not all before his qi ran out. After all, he’d still have to break the talisman barriers too, which might be easy, but would still consume spirit qi.
...
After dodging, Jiang Hao didn’t stop his movements and dodged again, as some spears came towards him shortly after, not giving him any time to rest. Although the cultivators of the three sects were shocked by his movements, they didn’t stop their attacks.
If they couldn’t injure him, they could still tire him out. So they kept attacking—first arrows, then spears. The area where Jiang Hao was dodging was the only place left clear, while just a short distance away from him were many spears embedded into the ground, and a little farther were the arrows.
He didn’t feel any kind of pressure while dodging the attacks. The amusing part was that even if these attacks hit him, they wouldn’t be able to pierce through his normal spirit qi defense on his skin.
It wouldn’t consume much of his qi either. In fact, these cultivators would be out of weapons before he even lost ten percent of his spirit qi. He was sure of it.
But his clothes would be damaged unless he extended his qi barrier to cover them too.
He suddenly thought of something and started to show slight symptoms of heavy breathing. This gave the attacking cultivators the illusion that he was getting tired—that their continuous assault had finally paid off. They sighed inwardly; they were all almost out of long-range weapons.
Their spears had already been used up. They would have to move closer if they wanted to pick them up again, which they wanted to avoid right now.
Only a few arrows were left as well. They didn’t want to face Jiang Hao unless he was tired enough.
They used a few more attacks until their arrows were completely depleted and looked towards Jiang Hao, who seemed tired enough for them to get close. They had used good quality talismans of late-stage grade four, as they didn’t want to take any risks.
This was the benefit of cultivators with good backgrounds inside inheritance sites. They couldn’t use attack talismans of grade four, as it would be considered a grade-four attack, but they could still use grade-four defensive talismans.
The talismans they had used would remain active for thirty minutes, or until they took three attacks of late-stage grade four. The strength of the attacks mattered too. They could take up to ten or more attacks if the attacks used against them were below late-stage, but they could also crumble if struck by a peak-stage grade-four attack—even one might be enough.
Seeing that Jiang Hao appeared tired, they steeled their resolve, and one of the cultivators from Ethereal Cloud Sanctuary moved first to check if Jiang Hao was truly out of breath or not.
They didn’t send any beast, as beasts couldn’t use protective talismans.
The disciple crossed the boundary made by arrows and spears and was about to put his foot in the circle, which was only around ten meters in diameter around Jiang Hao, when a finger was placed on the center of his forehead. The barrier dismantled like it was nothing.
Everyone watching was shocked to their core. Their eyes widened upon seeing Jiang Hao standing in front of the cultivator. None of them were able to see how he moved—it was like Jiang Hao disappeared and reappeared in front of the cultivator.
The cultivators who had surrounded him were even more stunned. Cold sweat had already formed on their backs. They had heard about Jiang Hao’s speed, but seeing it was entirely different from merely hearing about it.
The chilling part was the small smile present on Jiang Hao’s face, with no sign of exhaustion.
Jiang Hao removed his finger, and the disciple fell to the side onto the spears. He was already dead, a small hole on his forehead. Jiang Hao hadn’t even used his primal essence—his strength alone was enough to create that hole.
With the death of this disciple, one of the spirit beasts, which looked like a boar, died too.
He looked toward the other disciples who were surrounding him. They all seemed quite stunned at the moment. He shook his head. He was done playing around. If Sister Ming Yue were coming to this city, she would have arrived by now. Since she hadn’t, that meant she wouldn’t be coming.
It was time for him to end this. He immediately released his blood qi. Again, it was enough to give a shock of a lifetime to the disciples surrounding him. Some were so startled they even tried to flee, not minding if their reputation was damaged or not.
Jiang Hao wasn’t someone to let them leave so easily. Some might escape, but he would definitely kill as many as possible. He decided to target those first who were near the edges and about to run. He didn’t mind using teleportation—it didn’t matter if they figured it out or not. It wouldn’t change anything.
He immediately teleported to the first disciple who had moved. He had already slashed his sword before even arriving at the location, as he didn’t want to waste time. The edge of the array wasn’t far, and the speed of a Core Formation realm cultivator was enough to cross it in the 2 breaths.
If all these disciples had decided to run at the same time, even Jiang Hao wouldn’t have been able to do much. But now that they were disoriented and shocked, and only a few had decided to run, it was easier for him to pick them off one by one.
The moment he appeared, the sword cleaved the disciple along with his barrier. In fact, the barrier felt like just a thin piece of cloth in front of Jiang Hao.
His sword wasn’t ordinary either—it was a peak-grade-five sword crafted by Senior Huan.
When the sword cut through the heart of the disciple, he disappeared again and appeared in front of another disciple, who had just taken one step and was about to take the second. But his head flew away before he could even put it down. He only saw an afterimage of Jiang Hao while the man himself was already gone.
Jiang Hao appeared again before a disciple who was just about to reach the edge of the array. This time, he simply thrust his sword into the disciple’s forehead.
He continued for two more disciples before one of them finally managed to leave the boundary of the array.
The disciples of these sects mostly cultivated both body and qi. They were top sects for a reason. So even if they couldn’t use their qi, their speed was still fast.
Jiang Hao wasn’t disappointed. This array didn’t work like a trap array that needed to be broken to escape, like the cultivation restriction arrays they had used against the Ethereal Cloud Sanctuary cultivators inside the dark forest.
It means he wasn’t restricted here.
