Heaven Refining physique-Chapter 160: Dead
Chapter 160: Dead
How would he tell her if he was dead? Was she angry or worried? He really couldn’t figure it out clearly. Well, it was fine as long as she didn’t come inside the array.
As the attacks kept going, finally after thirty minutes, every single cultivator acting as a node had expended their spirit qi. This reduced the lightning strikes back to ten, and all the cultivators couldn’t help but look towards the pit that had been created by the constant lightning strikes and their attacks.
The pit was already more than ten meters wide, but its depth had become quite immense, more than a hundred meters, because none of them were able to sense Jiang Hao with their spirit senses.
One of the disciples moved and got to the edge to look inside the pit. Although it was totally dark inside, he could clearly see Jiang Hao lying down.
Jiang Hao looked completely battered. He was totally silent. Usually, his physique would have already healed him in this much time, but the way he looked right now means it hadn’t.
The disciple sighed in relief and gestured to everyone that it was safe.
All the cultivators inside the array moved and came toward the pit. After they all saw Jiang Hao, they finally took a breath of relief.
When Zi Rui and Shao Xuan saw this, they finally had smiles on their faces.
"Finally, we killed that unkillable monster."
Shao Xuan couldn’t control his voice and blurted out loud, then continued:
"Let’s go and see what he is made of."
Zi Rui, although a little skeptical, nodded. After that many attacks from the Crimson Thunder Vein Array, it was a given that no matter how strong someone is, they would definitely die, unless they were truly immortal.
Jia Yi was hesitant to go inside the array too. Jiang Hao had tricked the previous group the same way, from what he had heard from the disciples, so what if he was faking again?
There was a possibility, but was it really possible to survive that? He didn’t know about the others, but from what he had seen till now, it might indeed be possible.
He didn’t warn Shao Xuan and Zi Rui. They had their own pride. They had literally given everything for this plan, so they might not want to listen to him.
Not to mention, the disciples who were watching Jiang Hao had confirmed that he was unresponsive, although none of them had entered inside.
Maybe seeing him not heal had made them so relieved that they took it for granted. In the end, he decided not to go inside the array for the time being.
"You guys go. I will look from here."
"Hmph... Damn, aren’t you too cowardly? How are you the top disciple of the Soul Sea Realm in your sect?"
Shao Xuan cursed at Jia Yi, but Jia Yi didn’t mind and instead said:
"You can see for yourself to answer that question. Staying here throughout the whole attack yet calling me a coward?"
"You—"
"Would you two stop? Those who want to come inside can come. No one is forcing anyone."
Zi Rui interrupted and looked towards the cultivators standing at the edge and said:
"One of you go and check if he is dead or not."
He decided to double-check, just in case. Although it might make him look like a coward too, it was better to live and accept it than die like a fool.
"Hmph..."
Shao Xuan, although dissatisfied, didn’t move and let them confirm once again.
One of the disciples hesitated, but Zi Rui had definitely looked at him when he said that, so he had to go.
He flew inside and came near the mess Jiang Hao had become. He wasn’t even recognizable.
It looked a little disturbing to see. The disciple didn’t feel any qi coming from Jiang Hao, nor was there any breathing, although checking qi was more important as cultivators could block their breathing for a long time.
Seeing that there was no qi, he was already quite assured that Jiang Hao was thoroughly dead. He went back.
When he came outside, he said:
"There is no qi left inside his body. Maybe his dantian is already broken. His whole body is pierced by lightning strikes, not a single wound is healed. I don’t think we need any other proof."
Hearing this, even Jia Yi relaxed and decided to enter.
"If he had been alive even after that, then I would have killed myself."
Shao Xuan commented and entered the array along with all the remaining Soul Sea Realm cultivators from Ethereal Cloud Sanctuary. Zi Rui shook his head and followed, along with Soul Sea Realm cultivators from his sect. Jia Yi followed quietly too, with all the monks beside him.
The only cultivators who didn’t follow them were the fifty survivors of the Core Formation Realm. They didn’t have the tokens to enter the array and, more importantly, they didn’t want to enter. They were just too afraid.
"Be on guard. Ming Yue might still be here and could launch an attack."
Zi Rui sent a voice transmission through spirit sense.
The array was still active. In fact, if not for Jiang Hao having nil spirit qi, it would have attacked him again.
They all came to the edge of the pit and looked inside. There was one bloodied body buried in the depths, totally unrecognizable.
"Hahaha... What a sight! An unkillable monster, you said? Zi Rui, you really gave him too much pra—"
Before he could speak, he saw a battered body appearing in mid-air just above the pit. It was already healing. In just a breath, it had healed enough to recognize who it belonged to.
Everyone was shocked to the core. Shao Xuan was too stunned to speak further. Zi Rui looked at Jiang Hao with a bitter expression, while Jia Yi just sighed and accepted his fate.
Jiang Hao had definitely done it again. He had been waiting for them to come inside. Jia Yi didn’t know what tricks he had used to hide his qi from detection, but it had worked perfectly.
Jiang Hao stretched a little. The moment he stopped using Nirvana’s Veil and appeared, the array sensed him and sent a new wave of lightning strikes.
But he didn’t care for them. Without human nodes, it was worthless.
The reason he hadn’t healed was because, after reaching the Soul Sea Realm, he was able to control his physique better. Maybe it was because his physique’s inner world now resided in his soul sea, and because of this, his spiritual connection had deepened, giving him more control over it.
And since he didn’t want to heal himself, his physique didn’t heal him.
As for the excessive qi he had absorbed from the lightning attacks, oh well, they were all turned into five Annihilation Zones floating beside him.
No one had seen them in the darkness, as they melded easily into it. He had hidden them in the corners of the pit, five meters away, after creating them.
So when the disciple came to check on him, he hadn’t seen anything. Nihility Spheres and Annihilation Zones both didn’t release qi, so it was impossible to sense them with spirit sense as well.
Now, most of the disciples of the three sects were inside the array. In fact, all of them were concentrated within a hundred-meter range of the pit. Even one Annihilation Zone was enough for them; five seemed overkill, but since he had created them, why waste them? After all, there were still some spirit beasts and disciples outside the hundred-meter range.
Jiang Hao didn’t say a word, nor did he have any plans to mock them. He sent five Annihilation Zones to five different areas where the concentration of disciples was highest.
Given the speed of his attack, it took only a fraction of a breath before they reached the ground.
Others already had an inkling that these five spheres weren’t ordinary. Given how similar they looked to Jiang Hao’s previous attacks, it wasn’t hard to figure out what was about to happen, but how could they react? Before their thoughts even processed, they had already reached the ground.
Five enormous black orbs, each a hundred meters wide, appeared instantly in the array. And since most of the array was within this attack, it was destroyed along with all the cultivators and spirit beasts.
These orbs maintained their presence for two breaths before fading out, and what remained in their wake were five enormous empty pits.
No painful cries. No souls were left in the wake of this destruction.
After finishing them off, Jiang Hao looked towards the fifty Core Formation Realm cultivators who had still not broken through to the Soul Sea Realm.
They all were looking at the five pits in utter despair. Their Core Formation cultivators had been killed before, and now Soul Sea Realm cultivators too, and unlike Core Formation Realm cultivators, not a single Soul Sea Realm survived.
This was too devastating for them. How were they going to explain this to their superiors? It would be too intimidating to even speak the truth.
They finally looked at Jiang Hao, who had changed his clothes and was now calmly looking at them. They all flinched at his gaze.
Some of them even took a step back, even though they were on the safe pathway and he couldn’t attack them.
"Junior Brother."
Jiang Hao turned back and saw Ming Yue standing behind him, shaking her head.
"What is it, Senior Sister?"
"Do you know how many spirit stones you wasted, Junior Brother?"
Jiang Hao sighed inwardly. True, if he had killed them without using the Annihilation Zones, then they would have obtained quite a lot of them.
