His After The Heartbreak (BL)-Chapter 165: The Words That Shattered Me
Chapter 165 - The Words That Shattered Me
Chapter 165 – The Words That Shattered Me
Tyler's POV
I was still inside the room, sitting there, listening.
I could hear voices... arguments, loud and sharp through the walls.
At first, I didn't think much of it. Maybe it was just normal family stuff.
But the arguing didn't stop.
It only got worse.
I sat up and rubbed my face. The sweat from what happened earlier was still on my body. I felt dirty, sticky....
I needed to wash it all away.
I got up and went to the bathroom to clean myself up. The cold water hit my skin and I hoped it would take everything away.
After washing up, I changed into Logan clean clothes and sat back on the bed. I waited.
And waited.
But Logan didn't come back.
The voices outside were getting louder. Angrier.
Something felt off.
I couldn't sit still anymore.
I stood up and thought about going out there to check, but then I paused.
What if Logan's dad sees me?
What do I even say if he asks what I'm doing outside the room?
I sighed and told myself, "When you get to the bridge, you'll cross it."
I had no choice. I needed to know what was happening.
I opened the door slowly, my heart beating fast.
I took a deep breath and stepped out into the hallway.
I moved quietly, looking for Logan.
And then I saw them.
Logan and his dad were standing near a door—I guess it was his dad's room—and they were arguing hard. Their faces were close. The tension was so thick, it felt like it could snap at any second.
I stood there for a second, thinking about going to them.
But then I stopped myself.
Logan's dad didn't know I was even here, and I wasn't about to make things worse.
Instead, I moved quickly to the side, hiding behind the wall where they couldn't see me.
I leaned against it, pressing my body close to the cold surface, and watched.
I could tell whatever they were arguing about... it was serious.
I watched Logan, I saw him trying to call the police.
He was desperate. Scared.
But his dad grabbed the phone from him, refusing to listen.
I wanted so badly to jump out and help him.
But I stayed still, biting down hard on my lip, feeling useless.
I pressed my ear closer to hear better.
"...you can't go there. It's dangerous!" Logan was yelling.
Dangerous?
Where the hell was his dad trying to go?
I frowned, feeling more and more uneasy.
Why would Logan fight so hard to stop his dad if it wasn't something serious?
Why was he willing to call the cops?
I listened harder, every muscle in my body tense.
And then... I heard it.
Logan's voice broke a little as he said, "Who died? Someone lost their son's mother—"
I felt a heavy sadness hit my chest.
A man lost the mother of his son?
That was tragic. My heart hurt for them, whoever they were.
I leaned closer.
And then it happened.
Words that ripped my world apart.
"Tyler's mother was the one who was shot dead."
I froze.
Everything inside me just... stopped.
The walls, the air, the ground—all of it disappeared.
Tyler.
My name.
My mom.
Dead.
No. No. No.
I couldn't move. Couldn't breathe.
It felt like someone just stabbed me in the chest and twisted the knife over and over.
What the hell do they mean my mom is dead?
For a few seconds, my brain refused to believe it.
I told myself it must be a different Tyler.
Someone else.
It had to be.

Not me.
Not my mom.
Not after everything.
Tears burned the back of my eyes, but I forced myself to stay strong.
Maybe it was just a bad prank.
A mistake.
Maybe if I waited long enough, someone would laugh and say, "Gotcha!"
I held onto that tiny hope even though deep down...
I knew.
I already knew.
I told myself it was just a joke.
A stupid, terrible prank they were trying to pull on me.
That's all it was.
At least... that's what I tried so hard to believe.
Even though deep inside, something was telling me it wasn't.
Even though my chest already felt heavy, like the air around me was changing.
I kept whispering inside my head, They just want you to come out. They're trying to scare you.
But I wasn't going to fall for it.
I stayed hidden.
I stayed quiet.
Because I knew my mother couldn't be dead.
It wasn't possible.
It wasn't even funny to think about.
I had just seen her.
Was it yesterday?
Or was it just a few hours ago?
It didn't even matter.
The time was too short.
Nobody dies that fast... right?
I swallowed hard.
I knew in my heart that one second was enough for death to happen.
One minute was enough for everything to change forever.
But I refused to believe it.
I clung to the only hope I had—that this was all a cruel joke.
Nothing more.
I pressed my body tighter against the wall, straining my ear, trying to catch every word they said.
Then I used my eyes, peeking carefully.
I saw Logan's face.
The sadness on it.
The way he stood there, looking like the world just ended.
My heart sank.
Maybe it wasn't about me.
Maybe there was another Tyler.
Maybe Logan had another friend called Tyler.
Maybe they were talking about somebody else's mom.
But when I looked at Logan's eyes...
When I saw the way he refused to look up...
When I saw how broken he looked...
My heart knew the truth before my mind could catch up.
The look on Logan's face was betraying everything I wanted to believe.
It wasn't a prank.
It wasn't a mistake.
It was real.
Before I even knew what I was doing, I stepped out from my hiding place.
I walked toward them.
My legs were shaking, but I kept moving.
My voice came out cracked and raw.
"What do you mean by Tyler's mother is dead?"
Both of them turned to look at me at the same time.
Like they just saw a ghost.
Logan's dad looked even more surprised than Logan did, like he didn't expect me to be there at all.
"Tyler—you're not supposed to be here," Logan said quickly, stepping forward like he wanted to stop me.
But I wasn't going to let him.
I shook my head.
"That's not what I asked," I said, my voice stronger this time.
"Don't ask me what I'm doing here. Don't ask me why I'm here. I don't care about that right now."
I felt my chest rising and falling so fast I thought I was going to pass out.
"Answer my question first," I demanded.
"Which Tyler are you talking about?
Which Tyler's mom are you talking about?"
I felt my hands shaking by my sides.
"Which person's mother was killed?" I asked again, louder this time.
There was a heavy, painful silence.
I watched Logan's dad shift awkwardly, looking everywhere except at me.
I watched Logan's lips part like he wanted to speak but didn't know how.
Then finally... finally...
Logan's dad said it.
"It was your mother, Tyler."
He didn't even whisper it.
He said it straight.
Clear enough to crush me.
"She's dead."
