Chapter 95 The Price Of A Loose Tongue

Tyler's POV

Naomi's eyes widened, turning red as the realization hit her—she was in for it. And this time, no one was coming to save her.

Not even me.

How could I?

I had my own problems to deal with, and honestly, she dug this grave herself.

"Forgive me, Sir Logan." She bowed her head, her voice shaking.

I almost rolled my eyes.

Too late for that.

Logan's smirk didn't waver. If anything, he looked amused.

"Oh?" His voice was calm, "You thought that was the sexual thing going on?" He tilted his head. "Or did Tyler tell you that?"

His gaze flickered to me, but I knew better than to react.

"I need to know," Logan continued, "so I can decide whether I should sue the ass of both of you."

There it was.

Logan being an ass sometimes.

Not just sometime, not just sometimes but even most times

At this point not even most of the time.

But Every damn time.

"N-no, Mr. Logan," Naomi stammered. "Tyler didn't tell me anything. I—I was the one who assumed it myself. I thought you both had something sexual going on. I—I'm so, so sorry."

I clenched my jaw.

The hell was she doing?

She was falling apart.

Even Logan looked unimpressed.

"Even when Tyler warned me to keep my mouth shut," Naomi continued, "I didn't listen. He told me it wasn't true, but I thought he was just covering it up. I—I didn't mean to—"

I ran a hand through my hair, shaking my head.

I always told Naomi that her mouth would put her in trouble one day.

And look.

Here we were.

Trouble.

Big, big trouble.

And she was on her own.

What did she expect me to do? Beg Logan to let her go?

Yeah, right.

That would never work.

If there was one thing I knew, it was that Logan never let things slide.

And Naomi being in my life? That just meant he'd enjoy dragging this out even more.

Logan clicked his tongue, shaking his head.

"So, Tyler warned you that it was all lies," he mused, "but instead of listening, you chose to run your mouth. You chose to lie to yourself and to everyone else."

Naomi swallowed hard.

"Well, guess what?" Logan smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes.

"This—" he gestured between us, "is what happens when you spread lies."

His voice dropped lower.

"I hope you'll be able to prove yourself in court."

Naomi's whole body tensed.

"B-b-but—"

"Because if not," Logan cut her off, "you'll spend the rest of your life behind bars."

Out Table went silent

I stiffened.

Wait.

That wasn't supposed to be possible, right?

Could someone actually go to jail for defamation for their entire life?

I wasn't a damn law student, but—

If that was true...

Then Naomi was screwed.

"Please, forgive me," she pleaded, her voice shaking. "I promise to never put my mouth where it doesn't belong. I'll never speak on things that don't concern me again. Please—please give me one last chance. Just one."

Her hands were shaking.

She was scared.

I almost laughed.

The mighty Naomi, begging?

So she could beg, after all.

Logan raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?" His voice was mocking. "So you can beg now?"

Naomi gulped.

"I didn't think you could," Logan continued, "not when you were threatening to tell the whole world that Tyler and I were together."

He smirked.

"And now? Now, you can beg?"

Naomi's lips trembled.

"I—I'm sorry, Sir Logan," she stuttered. "In fact, he isn't even my man! It was all a fake relationship! We—we weren't even dating, I swear! I—I can even swear on my life! I can even swear on Tyler's life too—"

I snapped.

"No, no, no."

I muttered under my breath.

She shouldn't add me into this mess.

I wasn't about to die just because Naomi was an idiot.

Logan chuckled darkly.

"Oh?" He leaned back. "So, suddenly, he isn't your man?"

Naomi nodded frantically.

"But weren't you the one posing and telling everyone that he was?" Logan taunted. "Didn't you say that anyone who tried to take him away from you would face the consequences?"

Naomi dropped her gaze, shaking her head.

"Oh?" Logan smirked. "So why are you suddenly scared now?"

Silence.

She didn't answer.

Was she really that scared?

Or was she acting so Logan would leave her alone?

Because I didn't believe for a second that Naomi was suddenly a helpless victim.

Logan exhaled, shaking his head.

"You know, I really want to teach you a lesson," he said slowly, "so next time, you'll think twice before spreading rumors."

Naomi's face paled.

Logan continued.

"You had Tyler with you this whole time." He gestured toward me. "But you never thought to ask him for the truth."

Naomi clenched her fists, staying quiet.

"No, instead of asking him," Logan said, his voice dripping with sarcasm, "you assumed. You decided all on your own that we had something going on."

He smirked again.

"So, what was it?" he asked. "What was the proof that made you so sure?"

He tilted his head.

"Oh, was it because I called him a little bitch?"

My jaw clenched.

Logan's smirk widened.

"Or was it because I said that he moaned my name?"

"Was that your proof?" Logan scoffed. "Was that all it took for you to convince yourself?"

Naomi stayed silent.

She couldn't answer.

Logan let out a low chuckle.

"You are really dumb, Naomi."

"Yes, I know I'm dumb," she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.

"This is your last chance," Logan said, his voice unforgiving. "Next time I hear anyone talking about me, and I find out you were even listening—you don't even have to speak, just listen—" He paused for effect, his piercing gaze locking onto Naomi's trembling figure. "I will make your life unbearable. You won't believe it until it starts happening."

Logan didn't need to raise his voice to sound terrifying.

"You don't even need to gossip, Naomi. Just being there when others talk about me is enough. You hear them, and—"

Snap.

Logan snapped his fingers, making Naomi flinch so hard she almost stumbled backward.

"Boom. You'll be gone. Behind bars."

Then, just like that, he turned around and walked away

Naomi's relief was immediate. She started thanking him over and over, her voice shaky and desperate. "Thank you, Sir Logan. Thank you for giving me a second chance."

I watched her, unimpressed.

The same Naomi who had been running her mouth, acting all high and mighty, was now practically groveling. If Logan had stayed a second longer, she probably would've kissed his shoes.

Pathetic.

Still, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief myself. Logan hadn't exposed the secret.

I should probably thank him for that.

It wasn't kindness, of course. Logan didn't do kindness. He had his own reasons for keeping quiet, but either way, it worked out in my favor.

For a second there, when Naomi blurted out those words, I thought Logan was actually going to confirm it.

I couldn't have that.

That secret needed to stay buried.

I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding.

Once I was sure Logan was far enough away, I finally let go of the laughter bubbling inside me.

I burst out laughing.

Naomi turned to glare at me, calling me a dick under her breath.

"You know, Naomi," I said, still laughing, "I told you nothing happened between us, but no, you just had to play detective. And look where that got you."

I smirked, watching her fume. "Maybe now you'll learn to mind your business and keep your mouth shut for once."

She wasn't having it.

"You couldn't even stand up for me, Tyler!" she shot back, her voice laced with frustration.

Oh, she was trying to guilt-trip me now?

I raised an eyebrow at her.

"Naomi, I couldn't even stand up for myself, let alone you," I said, my tone flat.

Let's be real here—she deserved what just happened.

"Next time, try keeping your mouth shut about anything that concerns the almighty Logan."
