His Obsession Began After Losing Her-Chapter 71: Unsettling Incident
Chapter 71 - Unsettling Incident
Noran noticed a police car parked right outside Shuri's clinic.
As soon as the car stopped, he quickly got out, anxiety flooding his thoughts.
Inside, the atmosphere was tense.
The officers had just finished their questioning, and the clinic staff were still on edge.
Ignoring the curious stares from the onlookers, Noran hurried towards Shuri, who emerged from her consultation room just then.
"Ran?" Shuri looked surprised, concern evident in her voice. "You're here early."
Noran's eyes scanned her worriedly. "Rin, are you alright? What happened?"
She forced a smile, though her eyes showed unease. "I'm fine, just a little shaken..."
She recounted the incident briefly, explaining that she had received a parcel containing a cruelly murdered cat.
Her distress was palpable, making Noran's heart ache.
Noran wanted to ask more questions, but he noticed Shuri's attention shift to her clinic staff, including Bora, who was staring at him with wide eyes, momentarily forgetting the gruesome parcel.
"S-Shuri, is this who I think he is?" Bora stuttered, pointing at Noran in disbelief.
Shuri managed an awkward smile, thinking that she couldn't avoid not introducing Noran at that moment. "This is my fiancé, Noran Kingston."
The reaction was immediate and dramatic.
The three veterinary assistants gasped audibly, while Bora exclaimed, "Oh my god! Are you kidding me?! Your fiancé is Noran Kingston?"
Their shock was palpable.
Bora's eyes widened, and she placed a hand over her mouth, barely containing her excitement. "You mean the musical monarch, Noran Kingston? The one who sells out concerts worldwide?"
The assistants exchanged incredulous glances, whispering amongst themselves, clearly overwhelmed by the revelation.
It was as if a celebrity had just walked into their midst, and the room buzzed with a mixture of awe and disbelief.
Bora stepped forward confidently, extending a notebook and a pen to Noran. "Could I get your autograph, Mr. Kingston? My cousin is a huge fan and was really disappointed when you announced you won't be performing anymore. Did you quit because you're planning to marry Shuri?"
"What? You quit?" Shuri exclaimed in surprise, looking up at Noran.
She hadn't heard this news and felt a growing unease.
It appeared that there were many things about him she didn't know.
"You're his fiancée and you don't know?" Bora raised an eyebrow at Shuri.
Shuri fell silent, feeling a little ashamed.
"Here," Noran interjected, handing back the signed notebook to Bora.
He wanted to leave with Shuri quickly, sensing her discomfort after the unsettling incident.
Bora, thrilled with Noran's autograph, grinned as the other assistants surrounded her, squealing in envy.
As Bora and her colleagues fawned over the autograph, Shuri quickly said goodbye and exited the clinic.
After getting into the backseat of Noran's car, Shuri sighed quietly.
"Are you alright?" Noran asked, concerned, holding her hand.
"I feel bad for the kitten," Shuri admitted. "It was barely a year old and brutally killed. She was one of the strays from this neighborhood that we used to feed. I'm worried about the safety of the other community cats."
Noran's eyes softened.
Despite her own danger, Shuri was worried about the strays.
"You should be more concerned about yourself, Rin. Someone is targeting you. Have you made any enemies recently?"
Shuri thought for a moment, then shook her head. "No, I don't think so. I've been too busy with work to socialize or offend anyone."
Noran fell silent, studying her troubled expression.
He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
Once the call was connected, he spoke with a cold edge in his voice, "A parcel with a cat carcass was sent to Ever Care clinic this morning. Find out who did this. Also, send men to protect the strays in the area."
Shuri's eyes widened at Noran's commanding tone, one she'd never heard before.
Once he ended the call, he turned to her with a warm smile, his voice softening. "I want to help you, Rin."
Prioritizing the cats' safety, Shuri accepted his help with a smile. "Thank you, Ran."
Noran squeezed her hand. "I'll also assign someone to protect you when I'm not around."
She immediately protested, "You don't have to do that."
Noran's eyes hardened. "I'm worried about your safety, Rin. Someone is targeting you, and I can see you're not that concerned about your own safety. If you won't accept a bodyguard, I might have to keep you at home for your protection."
From his sudden serious tone and expression, Shuri could tell Noran wasn't kidding about locking her up.
Reluctantly, she agreed.
Once they returned to her apartment, Noran urged Shuri to settle down and rest.
Then, he went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
After feeding Happy and Snowball, Shuri took a shower, trying to clear her mind of the day's upsetting events. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
When she emerged, the comforting aroma of food filled the air.
Noran, knowing the sight of anything red might stir up bad memories from the earlier incident, had thoughtfully opted for a simple and nutritious meal.
On the table, he had set out a steaming bowl of chicken soup, fragrant with ginger and lemongrass.
Beside it, creamy garlic mashed potatoes added a comforting richness.
A roasted vegetable medley of zucchini, yellow squash, and cauliflower provided a burst of color and nutrients.
Finally, a chicken and mushroom risotto offered a creamy and hearty finish to the meal.
Looking at the sumptuous and thoughtful dinner before her, Shuri couldn't help but smile. "Wow! They all look delicious! Thank you, Ran!"
Noran returned her smile, relieved to see her a bit more at ease. "Please eat more."
They sat together, the warm meal had Shuri temporarily forgotten about what happened earlier that day and Shuri began to ask those questions she had always wanted to know.
"Ran, did you stop performing because of me again?"
Shuri looked upset, not wanting him to give up music for her once more.
Noran met her gaze, a soft smile on his lips. "There's no point in performing now that I've found you, Rin."
He was indirectly telling her that his music had been a way to search for her in the past.
"Besides, I have no free time for my music career now."
"Are you busy with managing Paragon?" Shuri asked, wanting to know more about him.
Noran smiled warmly. "Partially, and mostly because I want to spend more time with you, Rin."
He reached out, holding her hand and bringing it close to his face. "We've lost so much time together. If possible, I hope to spend every second with you."
Hearing his words, a sweet mix of emotions washed over her.
The tenderness in his voice and the sincerity in his eyes made it impossible for her to continue asking about his work at Paragon.
Soon, Shuri found herself in bed with Noran, who lay facing her.
As he drew closer, she anticipated a kiss on her lips, but instead, he placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "You had a rough day today. Sleep early."
Shuri was speechless.
That's it? He was not going to do more?
Noticing her subtle disappointment, Noran let out a soft laugh. "What were you expecting, Rin?"
Shuri pouted, turning her back to him. "I'm not expecting anything. I'm going to sleep."
As she settled, Noran wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close.
Her heart skipped by a beat when she felt his warmth and his hard pillar against her back.
A smile spread across her face.
So, he wanted her, but held back out of consideration, knowing how difficult her day had been.
If it were any other day, Shuri would have turned over and put her hand into his pants, but today, she was truly exhausted and didn't have the mood for it.
So, she just turned around and embraced him.
"I'm so glad to have you, Ran, really..." she muttered with her face pressed against his chest, breathing in his scent.
Haa, she loved his smell.
It was so comforting.
She was sure she wouldn't have those nightmares tonight with him around.
"Me too, Rin."
Noran settled his chin gently on top of her head, stroking her hair.
Soon, he felt Shuri's breathing relax as she drifted off to sleep.
Shortly after, he noticed her phone vibrating with messages and calls.
Careful not to wake her, he reached for the phone and glanced at the notifications, his brow furrowing when he saw who it was from.
Silencing the phone, he placed it aside, not wanting to disturb her.
Just as he wrapped his arms around her, ready to sleep, the doorbell rang.
Shuri stirred slightly, still half-asleep.
"I'll get it," Noran whispered, gently extricating himself from her embrace.
He got out of bed and walked over to the intercom to see who it was.
He furrowed his brows at the display.
If he could, he would have removed the doorbell to avoid letting this person in.
Seeing no response, the person outside kept ringing the doorbell, their expression turning sour.
Noran's expression darkened as he opened the door.
Standing there was a woman he was very familiar with.
Her eyes widened in shock, then quickly burned with rage as she pointed at him. "What the hell are you doing at my sister's place this late?"
