Hollywood What If-Chapter 438
Chapter 438
"I'm thinking about the best way for our company to thrive. In my opinion, Christopher Nolan is the best choice to direct Taken 3."
"Kazir, do you hear yourself right now?" Stella Willow was fuming. Perhaps her way of thinking was affected by her recent situation. However, she believed that she was right this time.
And actually, what she believed was on point.
"When you said that you wanted Christopher Nolan to direct Taken 3, I was already skeptical. I've watched all three of his movies, and they all have darker themes. Do you want Taken 3 to follow the same theme?"
"Honestly, why not?" He shrugged his shoulders.
"...I shouldn't have asked that question."
"Taken 3 is completely different from the first two movies. Besides, two of Nolan's movies were crime thrillers, we can fit that style into Taken 3, since Bryan Mills is in full detective mode to uncover the truth about the terrorist attack." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"Okay, fine. You're the boss. I understand that, in terms of filmmaking, you're more talented than me."
Note that Stella Willow was a producer, so she had an idea of how filming works.
Being the CEO of Grey Pictures, Stella had witnessed how the company flourished. She had also worked hard to make it happen.
Now that Grey Pictures was doing well, she was afraid of making mistakes. In her opinion, the company should maintain its stability.
Since the Taken franchise was all about kidnapping, she felt like adding a terrorist attack and revenge plots to the movie wouldn't make it better. It might even become a problem. She didn't like the plot at all.
Furthermore, when she found out that Kazir wanted a film director like Nolan to direct the movie, she was dismayed. It made her even more stressed.
Stella had worked hard for this company, and she didn't want to see it fall. She basically treated it like her child, considering that she now had shares in Grey Pictures.
Kazir's decision didn't sit well with her. However, being a professional and knowing that it was impossible to change Kazir's mind, she decided to back down and accept it. She was not happy, though.
She leaned back against her chair and sighed. Everything she did for this company was to make it prosper. She hoped Kazir's decision was the right one.
She hoped that adding a bit of a noir theme to Taken 3 would actually make it better.
"If there's something that annoys me, it's the fact that you're trying to help this British director for some reason. Tell me, have you met Christopher Nolan before?"
"No, I've never met him."
"...That makes it more confusing. You just trusted this man even though you've never met him."
"..."
Kazir just smiled.
One of the biggest reasons why he wanted to hire Christopher Nolan was guilt.
Yes, he felt guilty. Even though this was a different timeline and no one knew the truth, Kazir understood that he had stolen Nolan's masterpiece, the Dark Knight Trilogy.
And for that, he was sorry.
So, he might as well hire the director to make things fair. At least Nolan's career wouldn't be affected, since Taken 3 would be added to his filmography. People would still respect him.
By the way, Christopher Nolan was actually a talented director from the start. His filmography was so great that even someone like Kazir felt jealous.
Christopher Nolan was undoubtedly the best director of the new century. His storytelling, his filmmaking, and the box office results of each movie, he was the best for a reason.
His first movie, Following, only cost $6,000 to make. This was his debut movie, yet it grossed $126,000. It may look small, but the return on investment was clear.
His second movie was probably the start of his fame. Christopher Nolan's Memento grossed $40 million despite a budget of $9 million.
His third movie was his knock on the door of the box office. Insomnia grossed $113 million while having a budget of $40 million.
Considering that Christopher Nolan was still a newbie in the industry, his first three movies were all great. Noir films were not highly accepted in cinemas because of their heavier themes, yet Nolan's movies were performing well.
The start of his peak career was when he directed the Dark Knight Trilogy… Erm, this time, the start of his peak career was when he directed Taken 3.
Stella stood up. She accepted the plan.
"I will contact Nolan. I'll offer him a promising salary."
"Thanks, Stella. Oh, by the way, once I'm done filming Batman Begins, you can file for vacation. I know that you've worked so hard for this company, and you deserve a month's vacation. You can plan ahead."
"Sir, I think I changed my mind. You are not a red flag at all."
For the first time in this meeting, Stella smiled.
"I have no idea what you're talking about. And by the way, did you just call me 'sir'? I thought we made it clear that we're now on a first-name basis?"
"Goodbye, sir. Have a great day."
The woman left the room.
"Hehe. Bora Bora, Bali, Maya Bay, Cayman Islands, Puerto Princesa, Santa Monica Beach… Hm, no, let's erase Santa Monica Beach. I went there last time with my ex… Sigh."
She started muttering the names of beaches.
...
...
...
The private plane landed on the runway of Keflavík International Airport. The door opened, and the passengers exited the flight one by one.
"Ah, the cold air of Iceland," Kazir muttered as the cold, dry breeze hit his face.
Kazir and the crew had successfully stepped into Iceland. Now, it was time to go to the hotel and take a rest.
