House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men-Chapter 156: State of Crisis IV
Chapter 156 - State of Crisis IV
(Third Person POV)
Drakken stood between Boremund and Rodrik as the two Lords had their swords readied, staring down at the God of War.
Boremund lunged at him and swung his sword, only for Drakken to spin around and parry the sword with flashing speed, causing the Baratheon to stumble.
Drakken then plunged his sword into his chest, a vicious smirk on his face, "Heh."
In a swift motion, he swung his sword upwards, cutting through Boremund's chest and a piece of his face, blood spraying everywhere and hitting Drakken on his face.
"Lord Boremund!!" Rodrik exclaimed with a shocked face as Boremund's corpse fell to the ground
He run towards Drakken only for him to be hit by the sword, impaling his stomach; it had been thrown at him by Drakken.
Rodrik stumbled back, "W-What?" He said as blood poured out
"You might ask yourself....." Drakken started, "Why would I play all these games....why would I let the King think a fabricated sword could kill me, stall for time, and heal Balerion and give them a chance....Well, the truth is.....Entertainment!! I don't give a shit what you fools do."
Rodrik fell to his knees, "I...."
"Why would I merely tease your death, constantly heal you and make you think you will be okay?" Drakken asked as he stepped forward, "It is quite simple; because I want to. I like to watch the confused looks of despair on your faces. I want you to understand that my power is absolute, that everything that happens to you only happens because I will it....."
"You are no god...." Rodrik said as he winced in pain
Drakken stood in front of him, "Do you truly think I will give you a fair fight, Rodrik Arryn?" He said, "Well, I could. But I do not want to, I do not want to do any of that. I only want to see your stupid little face distorted with fear and despair the moment before I reduce you to ashes....but that look on your face tells me it won't happen.....Oh well....."
Drakken waved his hand, and all of a sudden, Rodrik was engulfed in flames and lightning that completely disintegrated him.
He turned around to adjust his coat, the flames raging on behind him, "Hm....." He said as he looked to the side, "It appears we have much to do....."
"The battlefield is still active."

News of Boremund Baratheon and Rodrik Arryn's deaths reached the Capital, shocking everyone. Jaehaerys was confused as to what could have happened, but there were no trusted witnesses to state the truth.
In the Stormlands, the Essosi were being defeated in every single battle by the Duskguard. The Dornish forces were also being assaulted by Drakken's men, pushed back due to the attempt to take Maegelle away from him.
In a matter of hours, Drakken plunged the lands in chaos, reducing his enemies to ashes on one battle and forcing them to submit in another. The Smallfolk witnessed the power of Drakken, The God of War and Death, and they realized that there was nothing that could be done about it.
The Duskguard were absolute power, they were instruments of destruction, wielded by Drakken himself. No matter how hard the Essosi tried to resist, they would simply be mowed down by them, their bodies completely destroyed by the might of the Marked Ones.
There was nothing they could do, Drakken was already excited with the sight of War. He will not stop until he is completely satisfied.
King Jaehaerys was at a loss, not knowing what to do. He knew he had to think of something, otherwise he would lose the support of the other Houses and they will eventually turn to House Drakkengard. The threat of Dragons did not faze Drakken, Jaehaerys knew that his beasts were far more dangerous than their House's dragons. Even with Balerion, there was not much confidence in the King.
He had to do something to end this conflict at once.
But he could not think of anything.
Over at the Stormlands, the God of War and Death was standing on a hill, overlooking the aftermath of the fierce battle that had just ended a few minutes prior. He had a slight smirk on his face, seeing as his Duskguard were walking around, finishing up any resisting survivors.
"Heh...." He said, "Good....."
Jon Rivers walked up to him from behind, "My Lord." He said, "I told her it was no place for her, but she insisted on coming....so I escorted her."
Drakken looked back, "Hm?" He said, seeing that Jon was with Maegelle, "Oh. It's fine. Leave us, go and help with the clean up."
Jon stepped to the side as Maegelle walked up to Drakken, "As you desire." He said before walking away
Maegelle reached Drakken, her eyes not leaving him, "My Lord...."
"Maegelle..." Drakken said, "What do you think? Are your eyes already desensitized? The sight of brutal war does not seem to bother you that much."
Maegelle frowned, "I....."
"The last time you saw something like this...." Drakken said, "It was because you insulted me.....ah, how time flies....."
"I remember that well..." Maegelle said, "I wish to discuss something serious with you....before you get carried away. I fear that I will not have another opportunity."
Drakken turned back around, "Whatever it is, it should be said quickly." He said, "I have much to do, Maegelle. I am to destroy the remaining Essosi and force them to flee....and then I turn my attention to the Dornish.....Ammaria is about to descend upon the Stormlands and plunge the region in a massive storm that will last-"
"I love you." Maegelle cut him off
Drakken stopped talking and immediately turned around, a surprised look on his face, "What?"
Maegelle looked at him, "I...." She started, "I did not think I had these feelings.....but when you decided to play around with my family, with that Sword...I truly believed that you would die.....I.....I was so worried....not only for what could happen....I told my Mother that should you die, the Duskguard will wage war against everything, that your beasts will devastate the entire world.....and that millions of lives would have been lost..."
"Hm..." Drakken said, "Maegelle....you...."
"But while all of that is true.....what worried me the most wasn't that...and I fear that is what makes me a terrible person." She continued, "I was worried the most about losing you....about you dying.....I could say that it was because you had two sons.....and two mistresses who care deeply about you. I could say that I did not want you to die because I did not want them to feel sad for it.....but that would be a lie....I did not want you to die because I did not want to lose you.....because I did not want to feel sad.....and when you revealed that it was all a game...I felt.....relieved....."
Drakken's face got a bit more serious, "I see....."
"It is so selfish....." Maegelle said as she clutched the skirt of her dress and looked down, "To think that I would have these feelings for you.....that I would love you.....I...it is not right...it is not right that I would simply look past the carnage, the bloodshed, the destruction.....that I would just ignore that and simply focus on the fact that you are alive and well.....my heart beats with ease upon knowing that, I am relieved...and no matter how hard I try to tell myself that it is wrong, I cannot help it, Lord Drakken...."
"Hm." Drakken said, "You need to underst-"
"I am a terrible person, Lord Drakken!" Maegelle said as tears ran down her eyes, "I am a terrible person for loving someone like you....."
"Shhh...." Drakken patted her cheek, "Do not think that....you are not...you are a gentle and beautiful soul, Maegelle....."
Maegelle sniffed, "I...." She said, "I have...felt so alone for years.....despite being in company of your mistresses and sons....but.....despite caring for them, I felt so alone.....I do not wish to have that feeling any longer....."
"What is it you desire, Maegelle?" Drakken asked, "Do you want me to stop this war?"
"No...." She said with a shaky voice, "Only you can make me be this honest.....I....."
"I want to be one with you...."
