Chapter 241 - Retribution

(Drakken's POV)

"So..." I said as Olyver stood before me, kneeling down, "You have brought me the traitor..."

We were outside the Dark Shade, behind him, a woman wrapped in rope was kneeling down with blood on her face. It was Sara, one of the Greenseers that had joined the Trinity all those years ago.

"Yes, My Lord." He said seriously, "It was her who leaked the information of the Shade....."

I looked at her, "Is that so?"

She looked up, tears running down her face, "I..." She sobbed, "I had no choice."

"No choice?" I said as I tilted my head, "What do you mean you had no choice? I gave you the freedom to make choices! To stay loyal to me! To serve me! To protect what was mine! To be part of the Trinity is not a luxury to take for granted!!"

She began to tremble, "T-The Red Cult.." She said softly, "They threatened my family."

"Family??" I said, "What family?!"

"I....I had two brothers in Essos...." She said, "I've occasionally written to them. They had families of their own, I owed it to them to keep them safe!"

I swooped my hand down and clutched her by the throat, "You owed it to them?!" I exclaimed as I choked her, "To them?!"

"P-Please..." She managed, "Mercy....!!"

"Mercy?! MERCY?!" I bellowed, "I gave you power!! Like nothing before!! And this is how you repay me?! The Red Cult was the last thing you should be afraid of?! Your brothers.....their families!! You have made a grave error by betraying me! They will not live to see the end of the years, mark my fucking words!!!"

I then threw her to the ground and spat at her as she gasped for air.

"You know what to do, Olyver." I said seriously, "Fuse her to the Shade. Her Greensight was enhanced by my power...it will provide a decent amount of power to the Shade."

"Yes." Olyver stood up, "I will do it at once."

As he walked past me, I stopped him by grabbing his shoulder, "You....."

"My Lord?" He asked

"That was your only failure." I told him seriously, "You understand? You will no longer fail me. Otherwise, your Fate will be the same as hers."

He nodded, "Yes...." He said, "I understand. I am deeply grateful."

I let go of him and began to walk away,

"You best be."

[Harrenhal]

"What are you going to do with her?" Mya asked me as we stood in front of the cell that contained the Red Priestess, "She has not made a single sound since arriving."

I looked at the woman, she was sitting down in a chair that Maegelle had Mya provide her. There was a bowl of what looked like cold stew and a piece of bread, which I assume was also Maegelle's doing as well.

My woman is too kind. If Saera had any say, she would not even have water to drink.

The Priestess looked at me with a neutral expression, no emotion in her eyes.

"I will break her." I said with a serious expression, "I will push her to her limits, see how far her Faith takes her."

Mya crossed her arms, "Torture?"

"Among many things." I said

"Hm." She said, "I can start if you want. I have bred my serpents to produce venom that causes hallucination....a single drop will put her in a delirium."

"It appears that people like them have developed a resistance to physical torture." I said as I reached for the cell door, "That will force me to require creativity for this task."

"Oh my." Mya said as I opened the door, "Are you going that route then?"

I walked inside the cell and stood in front of the Priestess, "What is your name?"

She looked at me, "I have no name." She said seriously, "Not for you."

"Hm." I said, "Interesting."

In a swift motion, I swung a backhand at her face, striking her on the cheek and sending her crashing to the floor. I saw as she struggled to get back to her knees, blood pouring from her mouth as she rubbed her swollen cheek.

I then turned around and walked out of the cell, closing it with my telekinesis.

"Oh." Mya said, "I thought you weren't being physical."

"I lied." I said as I looked at her, "I'll be back tomorrow. Make sure the warding is secure."

"Of course." She said with a smile, "I'll have my familiars guarding this entire section. She won't escape."

I nodded, "Good." I said, "If she decides to give me her name, call me."

"Oh, by the way." Mya said, "Riktor seems to be improving greatly in his training. And Sylas....well, he's...still mourning...."

"Hm." I said, "We'll speak on this matter later in my bed."

"I'll see you there."

*************************

"Here, boy." I said to Sylas as I planted my spear on the ground, "It is yours now."

I was in the courtyard where Riktor and Sylas were training. I had called Sylas over, prompting him to walk away from Riktor who was striking some wooden dummies.

"Father.....?" Sylas said as he looked at the spear

I gestured at it, "The War is over." I said, "I slaughtered nearly thousands of Valemen with this exact spear. All the anger....the hatred...it is poured in this spear...."

He looked at the spear, the massive polearm being significantly longer than him. His round red eyes were looking at it with such surprise that it reminded me of his mother the first time I told her I wanted to have a child by her.

"It is mine?" Sylas said, "I cannot hold it...."

"When you get bigger, you will be able to." I said, "In the meantime, train to get stronger and better at the spear."

"Drakken...." I heard a voice say

I turned to see Maegelle walking up to me, holding her belly as she did so, "Maegelle...."

"This spear...." She said as she reached us

"It is Sylas's spear." I said, "I just gave it to the boy."

"Oh...." Maegelle said as she smiled, "Isn't that great, Sylas? You finally have a weapon of your own!"

Sylas looked at it and then frowned sadly, "I want my Mother...." His voice was soft and low, "I want her now...."

My eye twitched, and I could feel a scowl forming on my face.

This boy...

He doesn't know that I want the same thing as he does.....

But it cannot happen....

I cannot do that.

Not now.

I cannot bring her back.

It is too risky.....

"Your Mother is gone." I said seriously, "You'll do well to move past the fact and live your life, Sylas."

"Drakken!" Maegelle said with a frown, "That is insensitive!"

"He needs to accept it." I said, "You are my son, Sylas. You need to be strong. The more you let this keep you down, the more despair you will feel from now on. So do yourself a favor..."

"Move on."
