I Became a Scoundrel of a Chaebol Family-Chapter 171
I visited the Namdong District Police Department after finishing my morning briefing.
The reason? Assaulting the district chief.
Since the scene of me beating that toad half to death was broadcasted live, they had no choice but to summon me. They practically begged me to come, so I scheduled the visit.
I even got to choose the location.
The reason I specifically picked the Namdong District Police Department was simple—Namdong Industrial Complex would eventually become my stronghold in Incheon. It wouldn’t hurt to lay some groundwork in advance.
“Wow... why is this place so big? And so crowded. Is it because of the industrial complex?”
Looking down from above, its sheer size was staggering.
The headquarters building was enormous—so massive that everything around it looked tiny in comparison. On top of that, the land it occupied, including parking lots, was just as vast.
“Yes. Given its location, it receives a lot of funding and has a significantly larger budget than most. It also has a large workforce, so naturally, it grew this big.”
“It’s pretty damn impressive.”
And yet, they left this massive den of gangsters untouched for decades?
Honestly, wouldn’t this place be the real breeding ground for corruption?
Think about it.
With something like the Namdong Industrial Complex right in front of them, they built this colossal station and then did absolutely nothing. What could the reason for that possibly be?
“This place is really... something else.”
“Oh?”
“Even when I was still with the police, there was a lot of talk about this place. People said you could learn all the worst things here.”
“Ho...”
“Its nickname is the most corrupt police department.”
“That’s not a nickname—that’s just straight-up slander.”
“Well, you’re not wrong.”
“Jesus.”
Looks like my hunch was right.
If even Soo-ah, who’s no stranger to corruption, shudders at the thought of this place, then that says it all.
But for someone like me, there’s nothing better than corrupt law enforcement.
Following the police’s broadcasted arrival instructions, we landed on the rooftop AV pad of the headquarters.
As soon as the door opened, Baek-seol and the other secretaries stepped out first. I followed behind them at a leisurely pace.
Since we landed on the rooftop, there weren’t any pesky reporters or photographers around. However, quite a few officers were waiting to greet us.
While casually straightening my jacket and brushing off any dust, the assembled officers rushed over and lined up.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, Young Master.”
A young woman who seemed to be in charge immediately bowed at the waist.
Seeing that, the officers behind her also bowed deeply at a full 90 degrees, making the scene look like something straight out of a gangster movie.
‘The most corrupt police department...’
The police department is one level below the Police Bureau, which serves as the headquarters.
It goes: Police Bureau → Police Department → Police Station → Substation.
Essentially, the Police Bureau is made up of representatives from various police departments, making this the actual enforcement unit of police authority.
Out of the Police Bureau’s 300,000-strong force, most of them likely belong to district police departments like this one.
In other words, it’s a place brimming with authority and power.
And yet, the senior officers of such a massive organization were bowing at 90 degrees to some “young master” who just dabbles in a few businesses.
Sure, it helps that I’m the eldest grandson of the Go family.
Still, this whole scene felt incredibly out of place.
“Come on, now. No need to make such a fuss. I’m not that important.”
The woman who had been bowing at the front stepped forward and bowed again.
“Thank you for visiting the Namdong District Police Department, Young Master. I’m Chief Do Yoon-jung.”
“Oh, really? Nice to meet you, Chief Do.”
When I extended my hand, she grasped it firmly with both of hers.
She was acting excessively deferential.
‘Come to think of it, the Police Commissioner’s position is still vacant.’
Ever since Jang Kyung-soo kicked the bucket, no successor had been appointed yet.
Was that why she was acting this way?
Trying to climb the ranks by borrowing whatever influence she could get?
I’m not exactly sure how police politics work, but for someone already in a position like police chief, this could be a rare chance to aim for a higher position.
‘Or maybe being a police chief is better? They probably have more direct control over personnel.’
Well, whatever.
“It’s cold out here. Let’s head inside.”
“Oh, yes! Young Master, please follow me.”
She quickly straightened up and gestured to her subordinates.
One of them—a woman who looked more like a model or a news anchor than a police officer—walked up, carrying a thick scarf.
Wearing a short skirt, stockings, and high heels, she was quite the sight to behold.
And the sharp clicks of her heels as she walked?
She was practically showing off. Did they prepare this intentionally?
“Just in case, we prepared this for you, Young Master.”
“Oh. Thanks. Never been treated like this before.”
I threw the scarf around my neck.
It wasn’t that cold, but it seemed rude to ignore the gesture.
Then I discreetly glanced at her name tag.
‘Superintendent Kim Sun-ah.’
Surprisingly, she was quite high-ranking.
“This way, please.”
“Oh, sure.”
I followed her, my eyes drawn to the sway of her hips.
‘Now that I think about it, isn’t about 70% of the staff here women? Is this place female-dominated?’
The chief’s a woman.
The superintendent who gave me the scarf’s a woman.
Looks like this place is overflowing with women.
And yet, it’s called the most corrupt department...
This is starting to feel like a headache.
*****
I had been summoned for allegedly assaulting the district chief, yet no one actually brought it up.
Instead, the police chief, the scarf lady, and several other female officers strutted around, giving me a grand tour. They even showed me places like the women’s dormitory and the troop waiting rooms—areas strictly off-limits to outsiders.
“This right here is the pride of the Namdong District Police Department—our Mobile Armored Unit.”
In the massive training yard stood twenty bipedal robots, each about five meters tall.
Too small «N.o.v.e.l.i.g.h.t» to be called mechs but too big to be classified as suits, these were mobile armor units.
They were the police force’s primary weapons—basically walking tanks.
Even in Namdong Industrial Complex, makeshift mobile armor units built from scrap had been spotted, so this type of equipment seemed fairly widespread.
Surrounding the mobile armor units were rows of heavily armed officers wearing thick bulletproof vests, helmets, and carrying massive rifles.
There were at least a thousand of them.
“In emergencies, I can deploy them under my authority for any operation. This is just a partial deployment, but when the entire force is lined up, it’s truly a sight to behold.”
“Ho. Is that so?”
“Our Mobile Armored Unit also played a crucial role in the Namdong Industrial Complex cleanup operation that you directed, Young Master.”
“Ah~. I heard about that. I was told they executed the operation flawlessly.”
“I’m glad our efforts were recognized.”
Lies.
I hadn’t heard anything like that.
If anything, wasn’t it the main headquarters that had stepped in?
I distinctly remembered some guy with a long-winded title taking command during that operation.
‘Or maybe the officers were deployed from here while the brass came from headquarters.’
Hmm.
That was certainly plausible.
The tour continued.
And judging by how things were unfolding, I could see what the police chief was trying to do.
‘She’s practically screaming, “If you recruit me, you can have all this firepower at your disposal.”’
It felt more like a job interview than a summons.
The chief kept rattling on, showing off—“We have this, we can do that, and look over here—this too!”—trying to sell herself.
‘Still, this beats sitting through an interrogation.’
To be honest, my main reason for coming here was to look around, so I wasn’t complaining.
Besides, they were all beautiful women.
If it had been men, I wouldn’t have even given them the time of day.
But this? At least it was easy on the eyes.
“Damn, they’re all hot.”
“Excuse me?”
“Oh, no, I meant they’re impressive. The police force, I mean! A force like this should crush criminals with overwhelming firepower!”
“Haha. That’s right, isn’t it?”
Oops. My thoughts slipped out there.
Go Muyeol was left alone in the police chief’s office with Do Yoon-jung.
They supposedly had some important matters to discuss, but Soo-ah had a pretty good idea of what it might be about.
“Oh my, Soo-ah... or should I say Director Im now? Director Im~?”
“Ah.”
While waiting casually in the hallway, someone suddenly approached her.
It was Superintendent Kim Sun-ah—the woman who had handed Muyeol the scarf earlier.
From the outside, she looked absolutely flawless.
Her hair was neatly tied up, her delicate face was picture-perfect, and her pale skin paired with a slender yet curvy figure made her a textbook beauty.
If a man had a thing for slim, elegant women, she’d be his dream girl.
Her heels clicked as she confidently walked up.
“It’s been so long. You haven’t forgotten me, have you?”
Soo-ah smiled faintly.
“...Of course not.”
“I was so happy when I saw you earlier. I never imagined we’d meet again like this.”
“Me neither.”
“And under these circumstances, no less. Ah~. Back then, we worked so well together, didn’t we? Two women struggling side by side.”
Memories of the past made Soo-ah chuckle quietly.
Superintendent Kim Sun-ah.
She had once been Soo-ah’s superior and was the one who taught her how to survive in this corrupt police organization.
“We did, didn’t we? Oh, by the way, I heard you’re engaged. Congratulations.”
“Ah~. Yeah, well, it just sort of happened. I guess I felt a little rushed, you know? I’m not getting any younger.”
“Congratulations again. Make sure to send me an invitation to the wedding. I’ll definitely be there.”
Kim Sun-ah waved her hands dismissively.
“Oh, no need to force yourself. You’ll be busy attending to the Young Master anyway.”
“What are you talking about? Don’t be silly.”
“Well, you never know what might happen, do you?”
“...Huh?”
Clearing her throat, Kim Sun-ah suddenly leaned in closer to Soo-ah.
“So... I heard that back in the day, you worked both as a police officer and as a secretary. Is that true?”
