I Became the Villain's Trainer-Chapter 103
Chapter 103
“The way you’re talking... That’s ridiculous, Ysildus. Why would I ever find you annoying?”
“Then why are you drawing such a cold line between us?”
Ysildus’s eyes turned mournful, glinting with sorrow, as if he might burst into tears any second. Alexa, flustered, shook her head. A strange sense of déjà vu washed over her, like she had been caught in this exact situation countless times before...
She had indeed experienced this before. It must have been back when Ysildus was still a little wolf pup. Ysildus had been a walking disaster back then. However, he would always look at Alexa with his innocent, clueless expression, and when she was about to scold him, he’d roll over, exposing his pink belly and acting cutesy.
‘Are you seriously mad at me? But look, I’m so sorry! If you keep getting mad, you’re the bad guy, Alexa!’
That’s what his behavior seemed to say. It was Ysildus’s way of wiggling out of trouble, and it seemed he hadn’t changed at all, even now. The moment Alexa looked like she might send him back to his own room, Ysildus would make that face, trembling his long lashes.
Alexa swallowed hard. Time and again, she’d fallen victim to Ysildus’s sly tactics. And this time was no exception. Defeated, Alexa grasped Ysildus’s hand without thinking.
“Drawing a line? No way, Ysildus.”
Images of a playful little pup rolling over, showing its belly, filled her mind. The imaginary pup seemed to smirk, whispering:
‘Alexa, you fool, you dummy...’
Even so, Alexa couldn’t stop the words spilling out of her mouth.
“I’m always open to you. A line? That’s absurd! It’s just... this room is my room, that’s all...”
“Ah, of course. This room is Alexa’s room. But wasn’t it also mine?” Ysildus tilted his head with an innocent expression.
“Your room is, well, over there...”
Ysildus’s room was an empty, desolate space devoid of life, cold as a forgotten storage room. He only ever went there to bathe or change clothes...
“But Alexa, back in the day, this used to be my room too.”
Ysildus fiddled with Alexa’s hand, looking at her with a pitiful expression.
“You and I were always one, Alexa. How can we possibly have separate rooms?”
“Uh... That was when we were kids... When you grow up, things change...”
“Is my younger self and the current me so different?”
“It’s not that different, but...”
“Then what’s the problem, Alexa?”
Alexa blinked rapidly, utterly cornered by his question. Her mind raced as she swallowed hard.
How was she supposed to explain to Ysildus that men and women shouldn’t sleep in the same room once they grow up?
Surely, if Alexa said, ‘Grown men and women don’t sleep together!’ Ysildus would immediately ask, ‘Why not?’ This issue, which she had dodged before, had now returned, bigger and more insistent, right in her face.
“Well... why don’t we ask the Grand Duchess about this?”
“You’re saying if Mother doesn’t think it’s a problem, it’s fine, right?”
Essellia, the Grand Duchess, had once told Alexa she was now a lady and needed her own space. Surely, Essellia would side with her this time, even if the wolves’ way of thinking was a bit... unconventional. This was the kind of dilemma Alexa felt safer leaving to an adult. She nodded quickly.
“Yes. If the Grand Duchess agrees, I won’t bring this up again.”
“Alright, Alexa. It’s a promise.”
“Yes, and you have to promise too.”
It took less than half a day for Alexa to regret making that promise.
“What does it matter, Alexa, Ysildus? As long as you two maintain the bond you have now, I see no issue with it.”
“Huh? But–”
Essellia smiled gently, but Alexa, desperate, tried to resist.
“We’re adults now! How can a man and a woman share a room, Your Grace?!”
“And why not, Alexa? I’d love to hear your reasoning.”
Essellia tilted her head curiously, her finger tapping her cheek. Alexa opened and closed her mouth like a fish, at a complete loss for words. She knew she had a perfectly valid reason, but she couldn’t voice it. Her thoughts raced in a chaotic swirl.
‘...Is it just me? Am I the weird one for thinking this way? Is my mind... dirty?’
As Essellia smiled serenely, her expression somehow resembled Ysildus’s to an eerie degree. Alexa wondered if her eyes were playing tricks on her.
“So, Alexa, there’s no issue now, right?”
With a bright smile, Ysildus blatantly nailed a sign to her door that read, Alexa and Ysildus’s Room. Alexa stared at it in utter shock, feeling as though her personal space had been violated overnight. She had overlooked one critical fact: Essellia had given birth to Ysildus. The one who birthed a fox... was also a fox.
* * *
“Hah, unbelievable.”
Selina passed Alexa’s room, carrying laundry, and let out a laugh when she noticed the sign. The antics of the wolves in Thersion were always ridiculous. But surely, this wouldn’t last long. Selina gave the sign a disdainful tap with the back of her hand before disappearing down the hallway.
Of course, Selina wasn’t the only one displeased with the sign. Alexa, already horrified, had her feelings mirrored by Terrun and even Jeremiah.
Terrun and Jeremiah had been waiting all day for the perfect opportunity. Finally, with Alexa away and training over, they confronted Ysildus, who sat leisurely in a chair. Today, Terrun had teamed up completely with Jeremiah. Standing with one hand on his hip, Terrun glared and spoke.
“How did that room suddenly become your and Alexa’s room? That’s Alexa’s room! If it must be shared, then our names should be added to the sign too.”
Terrun’s argument was clear and precise.
“I got her approval fair and square. Why are you trying to piggyback off my efforts?”
Ysildus shrugged nonchalantly, a sly smile on his face that only irked them more.
“We were allies, weren’t we?”
“Seems like your ally is Jeremiah now.”
“Y-you little–!”
While Terrun fumed, Jeremiah stepped in to calm things down.
“You said allies share their gains, didn’t you, Ysildus? Terrun sacrificed his partner, so it’s your turn to yield.”
“This isn’t something I can just yield. It requires Alexa’s consent, doesn’t it?”
Jeremiah bit his tongue. He knew Ysildus was right; this was Alexa’s decision to make. Their gazes met.
‘Will Alexa agree?’
‘No way.’
Judging by Alexa’s earlier expression, it seemed she had reluctantly given in to Ysildus.
“This isn’t right, Ysildus! You can’t keep sharing a room with Alexa forever. You’re adults now!”
Jeremiah’s appeal to common decency made his face flush. Ysildus clicked his tongue in disapproval.
“I swear I’d never do anything Alexa doesn’t want.”
“Can you swear on the moon?”
Jeremiah challenged, knowing the weight wolves placed on such an oath.

“Of course. I am innocent.”
“... And if you break that oath?”
“Then the Moon God will punish me. I’d give up everything I have with Alexa.”
Ysildus’s calm declaration forced Jeremiah and Terrun to concede. Defeated, they withdrew, unaware of the loophole in Ysildus’s words. The condition ‘as long as Alexa doesn’t want it’ left room for him to influence what Alexa might desire.
Watching them retreat, Ysildus smiled softly. He had time, and he wouldn’t waste it. He was confident he could make Alexa feel the emotions he wanted her to.
“Fine. Keep your oath.”
There was no way this would end so easily. Despite his suspicious expression, Jeremiah accepted the solemn vow. Ysildus, firmly rooted like a stubborn mushroom, had no intention of leaving his place. As always, he would give it his all, just as they were determined to give their all in trying to uproot him.
