I Reawakened as an Inferno Hero-Chapter 41: The Team
Chapter 41: The Team
Axel was impressed.
Protectors of Khaos realm?
Precise!
Royal cloak faced them, clapping his hands so the screen could be turned off, which it did.
He stared at them now.
"I have a backup plan, which is bringing in Nolan, Frostvein, when things get too tough. Which I hope not."
Dan was blunt. "Things will get tough, I'm certain. This is like a death call, so yeah, keep him as backup, we'll definitely use his help."
Axel looked at Dan and was speechless.
Death call?
Well, he had committed his corporation, him volunteering to be part of the team, so he couldn't pull out.
"What about the other superheroes in the academy?" Axel asked. "What happens to them?"
Royal cloak faced the screen, his hands crossed behind his back.
"We leave them there. We keep training them. Bringing them in the ways of a superhero for a month, and then, they will be part of a team too that will work together and fight against the bad guys in Superpolis. I'll probably name them, Guardians of Superpolis."
"What if they don't want to be part of the team?" Axel asked.
Royal cloak smiled and turned to face him.
"We'll brainwash them. In a good way, to be part of the team. We'll teach them good things and all. It's not like they have a chance actually."
Axel didn't say a single word. He didn't know, but he just couldn't decide if Royal cloak was a good guy or a bad guy. He concluded that he was both. He was a good guy and then a bad guy at the same time. He realized that Royal cloak would do bad to get good results. Well, that was being good, he guessed.
---
They didn't spend up to twenty minutes before leaving the room. Axel had been told by Royal cloak that they had a week before they left on the mission. He would be trained exclusively by a martial arts fighter.
Axel was happy about it. He had liked Kung Fu since he was a child, and even though martial arts wasn't actually like Kung Fu, it was combat nonetheless.
Now that Rhea was starting to gain interest in him, it was the time he was being sent on a mission. And by the looks of it, he wouldn't be so free to be talking or doing anything irrelevant, as he was going to be very busy with training (with the martial arts teacher), also with Royal cloak who had earlier told him that he was going to be his tactical and back history teacher.

What Royal cloak would actually be teaching him was more history about monsteryan, their weapons, and how their spells worked. Royal cloak would also be teaching him tactical approaches to the matter. The monsters' and villains' powers. What to do when he got there, and again, what he shouldn't do.
Axel realized that Royal cloak now saw him as a sort of messiah. He saw him as a fierce, young, and courageous warrior (superhero) who was only naive and needed to be taught how to use his powers.
Axel exhaled and inhaled. He smiled. He ought to have inhaled and exhaled, but now he was going against nature and doing the very opposite.
He was going down a corridor now, alone. Dan was still at Royal cloak's office, together with Chrysa. Perhaps they were discussing.
He stared at the medium-sized clock above his head and sighed. He was to go and meet Rhea as apparently, she had wanted to have a conversation. But now, seeing the time, 4:50, he remembered that he was supposed to go meet his martial arts teacher by five.
Royal cloak had told him that he wasn't going to start training today, as he needed to rest. The only reason he would be going there was to just do some basic stuff and so his teacher could ask him some questions.
Axel sighed. He was about to have a girlfriend now, but duty was in his way. It seemed he was cursed or something, he wondered. So in his life, he wasn't going to have a girlfriend?
"Pathetic," he heard himself mutter.
He looked for his martial arts teacher now. Royal cloak had told him that the door had a sign of two figures. Peering at all the doors, Axel searched for the martial arts teacher's office.
After two minutes of scouring, perhaps less, he saw the door. It was by his left, and he had actually passed it before he realized that it was the door to the martial arts teacher.
Axel, standing in front of it and looking quite sheepishly, inhaled and then, exhaling, he simultaneously knocked on the door.
It was instantly opened.
Axel was surprised. It hadn't taken any effort for it to be open, and he was quite surprised. It was then, with a slight effort in thinking, that he realized—
THE DOOR HADN'T BEEN LOCKED.
TWIST!
He grinned.
Twist!
'Hell yeah!'
Axel didn't enter, at least not yet. He only stared into what the door led to, his eyes wide open. The place was dark and so he couldn't see anything, not even a morsel of any shadow.
Axel was getting scared now. This was giving him horror vibes. Something like that, and he didn't like the feeling. He felt the sensation crawling up his spine, tickling his brain and whispering horror into it.
He stared blankly at the dark space. For a second there, he was tempted to run and scream down the lobby.
Wasn't he supposed to say 'Hello?' he asked himself.
Right now he was even afraid to do so. Of course, he knew he had superpowers and was a superhero, and he could fight and—
BUT NOT AT THIS POINT!
He was Axel now and no longer INFERNO BLAZE.
Axel was tense. Staring at darkness for long made him see phosphenes. It made him dizzy and dazed.
He concluded that he was going to say hello now, and if he didn't get any response, he was just going to run away.
"H-" the words stuck in his throat.
A bulb light now lit where the door led to, the martial arts teacher's office.
He heard a soft voice:
"Come on in."
