Lillian's face wrinkled at the Assassin's inquiry. She did, in fact, hate it a bit. But only a bit.

"Kinda... But there is something about using my fists to win battles, you know?" She placed her notebook to the side, interlocking her fingers and placing her hands over her chest.

"Even if, it does hurt my knuckles whenever I hit something, it's kind of cool, right?"

Marionette raised an eyebrow at her reasoning.

"I suppose I see where you are coming from. But that reason is highly illogical from my point of view. You shouldn't spend time on something you dislike." She shook her head, demotivating the Rabbit lying in her lap.

Lillian gave a disappointed sigh. Just as she was about to respond and agree with the woman—

"However..." Marionette raised her hand, wrapping her fingers around her chin and adopting a pondering expression. She thought about the possibilities of Lillian's skills that may grow.

"It would not be bad if you were to move from someone who constantly uses range attacks to win, to someone who could win through both close quarter and range combat."

"Eh? Am I not the latter already?" Lillian asked.

Marionette tilted her head side to side, constructing her words.

"You are. But your skills are only enough to win against the weak. Fortunately, your abilities with your magic are enough to push you further up the scale."

Lillian's right eye twitched at her words, slightly irritated, but she knew she was right. But wasn't it unfair for her if the woman were to compare her to other monsters like her?

"What about our spars, then? Aren't they helping, like you said? Experience, right?" Lillian asked, sitting up from the Assassin's lap.

The raven-haired woman watched as the girl sat up before sighing, "You are making progress, most definitely. Your strength, flexibility, and stamina are far more than what you had before. And miraculously, so is your mana..."

At the end of her sentence, Marionette eyed her suspiciously, causing Lillian to shrug nonchalantly. The Rabbit had yet to tell her the reason for this sudden boost in magical power.

Currently, Marionette was just assuming Lillian had undergone some sort of breakthrough. But if she were to believe such a thing, she would be naive.

Seeing that Lillian wasn't going to say anything, she sighed. She wasn't going to pry into personal matters that hadn't been given consent to. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"I suppose, adding onto your previous battle experiences, you had accumulated quite a fair amount. But that isn't quite enough." The Assassin sighed.

She raised her hand, placing the tip of her fingers onto her forehead, while leaning back into the couch.

She had a doubtful look, not the usual confident one she always wore.

"Sometimes, when we spar, I feel like I'm not doing as good of a job as your trainer as I hope I am." She shook her head before glancing to the side, finding Lillian staring at her strangely.

"Did... I say something odd?"

Lillian's eyes, which were squinted, stared at her sceptically, "Is... This a joke? You always make them so hard to guess."

Marionette widened her eyes briefly, lowering her hand from her forehead and onto her lap, "It's not. Why would you think so?"

Lillian cringed, "You're like... A really good trainer." She stated, leaning her back into the couch. She then raised her hand, wrapping it around the other side of the Assassin's head.

Marionette felt herself tilt to the side, due to the hand pressing against the side of her head. She then found her head in Lillian's lap.

The girl smiled down at her, brushing her fingers through her long, black, and silky hair.

"Please don't doubt yourself, Marionette... It's out of character for you." Lillian chuckled, feeling the Assassin's weird gaze as she said the last part.

Marionette blinked at her, perplexed at the term 'Out of Character'.

"I'm... Being out of character? I believe I'm always the same."

"Ehh~... Are you, though?" Lillian snickered, moving her hand down from the top of the Assassin's head and onto her cheek.

Marionette's eyes drifted towards the hand cupping her cheek before gazing up at the girl, who opened her mouth and muttered:

"You are strong, confident, and beautiful, Marionette... Traits I couldn't imagine achieving in the past."

Marionette stared at her silently before asking, "... Do you think you could now...?"

Lillian gave a gentle shrug, "Not sure... I could, but I definitely might not reach the same level as you..." She then took in a deep breath before continuing.

"Not only are you all those, you are highly affectionate, and most importantly of all..." Lillian's voice became softer, "The most patient person I've met... Kind of..." She whispered the last part wryly.

Marionette's stoic face relaxed at her words. Well... More relaxed than she was regularly when she was around Lillian.

Lillian noticed this and kept on going.

"So, don't go and be pessimistic, Mari... That's my job."

"Then... What's my job?" Marionette asked, listening closely.

The white-haired girl smirked, "Isn't it obvious? Your job to help me get stronger, while also dealing with any shortcomings I may have..."

She then tilted her head, smiling with a cheerful and playful grin. "You are the best person for it. I couldn't ever hope to find someone superior than you inside the Academy for the job."

Lillian stared down at the Assassin, finding their eyes drifting to the side, avoiding her gaze. She then heard her say:

"You lie..."

"Pfft..." Lillian let out a soft chuckle. She was indeed lying. There may be a few individuals in the Academy capable enough. But she was too lazy to go after such high-maintenance individuals.

Even though she wanted to be stronger...

"Perhaps, I am... But..." Lillian clutched the Assassin's cheek, causing the woman's eyes to turn back to face her.

Lillian, using the side of her thumb, stroked her cheek intimately. After a tense and long pause...

"You are the best partner I could have..."

Even though she wanted to be stronger... It wouldn't be as fun if she couldn't grow alongside the Assassin.

Lillian watched as the Assassin raised a hand over the lower half of her face, hiding something underneath. It was at this point...

"You're blushing, aren't you~?"

... Lillian knew what it meant...

Marionette stared at her silently before shaking her head briefly in denial.

"I'm not."

"You totally are~..."

Marionette rolled her eyes at Lillian's playful tone and went silent. She shuffled around a bit on the couch, eventually turning in Lillian's lap to where her face was facing the girl's stomach.

A few moments later, she lowered her hand, revealing her face again. The expected blush was nowhere to be seen.

The corners of Lillian's lips twitched—it seemed that the Assassin had waited for the blush to die down.

She let out a sigh but then perked up once she heard the woman's voice.

"Gauntlets... Light Gauntlets would suffice for what you are asking."

Lillian thought about Marionette's suggestion and nodded, "I guess they do...! I got to find ones with some nice enchantments, though." She rubbed her chin, pondering.

"Would you like me to prepare some for you?" Marionette asked in a muffled voice as she buried her face in the girl's stomach.

Lillian momentarily froze before chuckling, patting the Assassin's hair, "Nah... I have an idea where to find some good items..."

"... I see..."

They stayed like this for a while. No specific amount. All Lillian knew was that Marionette continued to rub her face against her stomach like some sort of cat.

The woman eventually pulled away from her stomach, staring up at her and at her smile. She then raised her hand.

Lillian stiffened once she felt Marionette's cold fingers brush against the side of her neck. She found the Assassin staring at a particular spot on her neck.

She then heard her mutter in a quiet voice:

"It's gone..."

Lillian raised an eyebrow. What was gone? Just as she was about to ask Marionette what she meant, she watched as the Assassin suddenly leapt up from her lap.

Lillian felt her body twist around, the world spinning as her back fell onto the couch. Not only that, but she felt something soft and wet press against the side of her neck.

Marionette's body was tightly smushed against Lillian's. Their chest rubbed against each other through their clothes. And while this was happening, the Rabbit felt a sucking motion on her neck.

Lillian widened her eyes at what Marionette could possibly be doing. Was she intending on leaving another hickey on her neck?!

She quickly raised her hand to her head before freezing for a brief moment. Instead of pushing the Assassin away, she placed it on the back of her head, stroking it.

Lillian gave a defeated sigh as a warm smile stretched across her face.

"Just this time... I'll let you do it."

If it'll make Marionette feel a little bit better, something like a hickey wasn't so bad as a cost.

Lillian stared at the ceiling, letting Marionette do as she pleased, while thinking:

'I'm such a pushover for cute things...'
