Chapter 1463: Limits

And yet, despite his best efforts to persuade her to take a step back and prioritize her own well-being, Sealyn remained resolute in her determination to continue her training. Her fear of falling behind, of being left behind in the relentless pursuit of strength and power, outweighed any concerns for her own health and safety.

"If even Terra and Seara can’t stop her, no one can," Rain while rubbing his eyes. "I guess we can only wait until something happens so that we can scold her. Van is at least covering for her, right?"

"Van, Seadrei, Seadir, your sisters... they are all slacking off while using the excuse to be looking after Reed," Roan said and then sighed.

"... I guess we can be lenient and give them a few more days off," Rain said after thinking for a short while.

Rain was worried... he didn’t have much room to say that, but there was a high chance that Reed would grow up spoiled with all that many people looking after him. He would have done the same with his kids if it weren’t for the circumstances, so that was why he couldn’t say anything.

In any case, before resting for a bit, Rain decided to check things with Sealyn, and soon he found her using her version of that technique... it was probably right to call it Origin Thrust, considering the way she used the technique. Close to her, Rain also found Terra and Seara using their own versions of the technique... they didn’t slack off that much.

"You guys... I wished that I could say anything right now, but I can’t, huh?" Rain asked. "At least try not to overdo it."

"I am done here; I’ve already got used to the technique," Sealyn said. "It is pretty useful. What is the next Level?"

"Aha! I won’t tell you unless you behave," Rain said. "Finally, I have the chance to use my authority to control things around here."

"It is a bit too late to say that when she finished her training," Terra said.

"No, it is not," Rain said. "Better late than never. I can use this to prevent her from overworking and..."

"She knows her limits. She only exercised for half an hour," Seara explained. "Besides, this is part your fault for making her even more eager to train after she heard of this technique."

"Why are you talking like I am not even here..." Sealyn frowned. "Did you come to see Reed too? I thought that you would be like Grandpa, but you are being awfully reserved."

"It is because I can read the mood, and Seadrei doesn’t think too much about anything," Rain explained. "Anyway, did you notice anything different with Reed?"

"Different? How exactly?" Sealyn asked.

"Different if compared to other kids that you saw after they were born," Rain said. "You guys learned things pretty fast compared to us. You also had a talent to sense things related to magic. I was wondering if you noticed that Reed inherited some high talent or latent power. He was crying like a normal child before, but..."

"I would say that it is a bit too soon to tell anything," Seara said. "Still, it makes sense thinking like that since Sealyn had the highest potential when it comes to water magic in our history."

"The best person to ask about this kind of thing would be the overseer, right?" Terra asked.

"Yes... but that guy won’t show up unless it is absolutely necessary, and this is only a curiosity that won’t benefit him," Rain said. "Anyway, just be sure to keep an eye on him and notice if anything odd happens or feels off."

With the growing proficiency in various forms of magic among the members of the family, Rain couldn’t help but wonder about the potential of the next generation of children. With access to a wide array of magical abilities and techniques at their disposal, it seemed inevitable that they would possess even greater potential than their predecessors.

The prospect of a new generation of magic users filled Rain with a sense of excitement and anticipation. He imagined them honing their skills from a young age, mastering the intricacies of many skills and techniques with ease and proficiency.

However, Rain couldn’t shake the nagging uncertainty that lingered at the back of his mind. While the ability to control multiple forms of high-level magic was undoubtedly a boon, it also introduced a level of complexity and unpredictability that was difficult to quantify.

The next generation of children would be navigating uncharted territory, grappling with the complexities of their inherited abilities, and forging their own paths in the world of magic. While their potential for greatness was undeniable, it was hard to say how the power to control the aspects of other high-level magic would ultimately affect them.

Before going to rest himself, Rain went to see his grandson and found him sleeping soundly. That was quite odd. His children cried all the time when they were babies, so he assumed that it was in their blood. They cried when they were hungry, they cried when they were thirsty, they cried when they pooped, and they cried when there was nothing wrong... in any case, Rain wondered if it would be fine for Reed to grow up there...

Their camp was a city in the underworld, and the surroundings looked very different from before, there were trees, vegetation and a fresh wind as well... but it was still underground. Perhaps they should return to the surface.

"The machine gods won’t attack us like before since they know that we can defend ourselves much better than before, so..." Rain thought after he left Reed’s bedroom.

Rain felt that he was getting too lax, too... newborn babies have the aura that makes people do everything for them, even when it isn’t the most optimal option for safety. The best option would be to defeat the machine gods as fast as possible.
