Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1487: Going all out
Chapter 1487: Going all out
Despite the pain and suffering that wracked his body, Rain remained steadfast, his focus unwavering as he faced down the attacks with unyielding resolve. Though his limbs trembled, and his breath came in ragged gasps, he couldn’t see, thanks to the fact that his eyes were pierced and his cheeks were filled with holes. There was a fire burning within him, a fire that refused to be extinguished, no matter the cost.
With every fiber of his being, Rain pushed through the agony that threatened to consume him, drawing upon a wellspring of inner strength that seemed to defy logic and reason. Though his body screamed out in protest with each new wound, he refused to falter, refusing to let his enemies see even a hint of weakness.
"Are you going to wait for me to recover, or are you going to do something?" Rain asked. "Are you a slow learner or something? I guess competing with the other machine gods didn’t make you learn faster. You are only middle tier for their ranks, after all."
"Very well, you shall face me with all my power. Hopefully, you won’t be crushed immediately and give disappointing results for this experiment."
The cubes disappeared pixel by pixel... Rain thought that Rais would use them as basis to create his perfect body, but it seemed that wasn’t the case. Only after all of them disappeared, Rais began to digitalize in the real world his perfect body.
"I see now... it is weird saying that in my state," Rain said. "Anyway, you are using your power to create things using materials that you stored in a digital dimension or something? That is the only explanation as to why you would have to store away all the cubes first when they were part of the surroundings a while ago."
Rain stopped for a moment the creation of his body, but soon he resumed it... It looked like Rain had hit the jackpot with his assumptions. In the end, he couldn’t help but smirk and that annoyed the machine god... that made him to decide to ignore his own nature of seeking knowledge endlessly... and then kill Rain as fast as possible.
The whole planet began to shake, and then Rain could tell that the gravitational field was weakening. It seemed that Rain was planning to use all the digitized parts of the planet to get him now.
Before long, the entire area got darker. while Rain was transforming... Rain waited patiently for it since he couldn’t make any reckless move and give the chance to the enemy to destroy him with a surprise attack.
Eventually, the light returned, and then Rain found himself in a new space... it felt like he had been teleported considering the changes, but that wasn’t the case... the pace was just showing its true appearance... Rain was surrounded by gray cubes in all directions... some of them were incomplete, some of them were damaged, and some of them were moving around repairing others. In the distance, Rain could see the space like it was made of pixels of a screen... it seemed like a virtual reality without the fake layer of a game.
As Rain’s gaze fell upon the figure that stood before him, his expression twisted into a perplexed frown. Before him stood the perfect likeness of Rais, the enigmatic machine god who had observed their battles with an inscrutable gaze. But something about this version of Rais was decidedly different, and it left Rain feeling both amused and unsettled.
For one thing, the surface of Rais’s body seemed to shimmer and sparkle like a disco ball in the light of the chamber. Multicolored lights danced and flickered across his form, casting kaleidoscopic patterns upon the walls and floor around him. It was a spectacle unlike anything Rain had ever seen, and it left him feeling as though he had stumbled into the midst of a surreal party in some distant, forgotten corner of the universe.
But even as he marveled at the strange sight before him, Rain couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at the pit of his stomach. There was something inherently wrong about this version of Rais, something that went far beyond the mere surface appearance of his body. It was as though the very essence of the machine god had been twisted and distorted, transformed into a grotesque parody of its former self.
"Your perfect body is quite weird, might I say," Rain said.
All of a sudden, a giant hand suddenly materialized from the ball and then was swung toward Rain. The speed had been so massive that Rain was pushed backward and he didn’t have the chance to avoid the attacks... the speed of that wasn’t normal.
Rain spiraled in the air for several seconds while he felt his body screaming in agony... when Rain stopped spinning in the air, he was bit by a mana cannon. The real deal... even though Rais didn’t show the size of a mana cannon, he was able to attack with one.
An explosion took place, and then the air cracked with energy, and then the temperature increased as smoke spread in all directions.
Rais still was able to sense Rain’s presence, so he soon fired another massive mana cannon toward him. When the next impact happened, Rain appeared for the fraction of a second covered in burn marks blocking the second mana Cannon with the ominous sword.
This time, Rais kept firing the cannon, so he was pushed backward for several kilometers in the blink of an eye. Before long, Rais stopped since he could feel that Rain was absorbing a large amount of the energy of the mana Cannon.
When the attack ended... Rain appeared while holding the ominous sword... he was breathing roughly, and the burn wounds on his body were healing quite fast, thanks to the mana that he absorbed. However, at the same time... the ominous sword finally showed damage...
