John Wicked: Endlessly Evolving My Pet Monsters-Chapter 22: Netherlord Glassblaze Lupine - Alfred
Chapter 22 - Netherlord Glassblaze Lupine - Alfred
Azelis raised her eyebrows. 'Problem?'
'You see...I was doing some, let's just say, experiments related to some monsters. These monsters are very bloodthirsty, especially for the blood of humans.'
Azelis frowned, 'What were you doing, senior Lainey? This can get you in trouble if students get hurt.'
'I know. That's why I am asking for your help. This experiment was related to a project I was given by the headquarters, which, of course, they would deny even if everything was exposed.'
Azelis internally sighed. She didn't know whether to believe her or not, but she knew she had to help lest the students get hurt.
'So, what's the problem exactly? Are these monsters capable of passing the barrier set up around the event area of the forest?'
'They can't pass the barrier, but they can detect human blood from afar and will get triggered to follow it. With students getting injured daily, those monsters will be triggered for sure. It's just a matter of time. And they can travel through the ground, so the barrier won't stop them.'
Azelis frowned.
It wasn't unusual for monsters to be able to travel through the ground for Earth-attributed monsters, but they wouldn't actively hunt for human blood like these monsters Lainey mentioned.
'How powerful are these bloodthirsty monsters, and what's their species?'
'They are a bunch of Grave Geoblood Scorpians, and Coilart Geogore Worms. Numbering a total of thirty-eight, they are all in Silver rank. I thought I had time to settle this, but we are now occupied with observing the students.'
'Why don't you tell the vice-leader of your branch or someone else from your sect branch to deal with them?'
'I can't tell them for two reasons. First, I may be the leader, but because of my unimpressive combat power, the vice-leader can't wait to replace me, and I have no supporters in the sect. It's only a matter of time before I move to the headquarters's research division, but if this gets out, I could lose my chance.'
'It looks like the headquarters values your research and development capabilities. Don't tell me I was also one of your experiments when I was your student? Your trainings were eccentric.'
Lainey relayed a dry chuckle through the soul chat before replying, 'You think so?'
Azelis was silent for a bit and then sighed. 'Fine, I'll help you. Tell me their general location. If they are burrowed in the ground, it will be hard to find them from here.'
'The place I worked is in the west, so they'll move to the event area from there. We just need some good eyes there like yours. Mainly, we need to observe the borders of the Black Mist Woods area and the Moonveil Fen area.'
Lainey continued, 'I'll tell Toren and Raazi to exchange those two areas with two of your areas.'
'Alright. I'll keep the Silver Hill Spring area to myself. Give them the other two.'
'Thank you, Azelis. I owe you. You still have that cheeky shadow assassin feline with you, right? Use her to deal with them quietly.'
'Yeah, that's the plan. Also, do you know when other Emperor-rank tamers are coming to take our shifts? It's the 2nd day.'
'They'll be here by morning. I'll switch my shift so we can take turns observing the borders. I may not be able to observe as well as you, but I have a skill to detect them, albeit just not as efficiently as your soul technique.'
'Got it.'
...
Morning arrived as John had a satisfying sleep of seven hours since Yuna wasn't sleepy after all the day-rest she had.
After having breakfast together at 6 a.m., Yuna went to sleep since she was tired after spending the night training.
It was the third day, so the influx of spirit energy in the atmosphere, breeding, and relocation by the organizers of the event increased the number of prime-stage monsters in all areas.
John went to check in the nest house and saw the eggs under Mama Silverwind Eagle while Pymon was sleeping nearby.
'Buddy got a family,' John smiled.
Suddenly, John felt something, and his eyes sparkled.
He quickly entered his shack and took out the cocoon.
It was shaking slightly while glowing.
Soon, a tear appeared over it that spread and widened, releasing a chilling aura with sparks of blue flames.
Inside the cocoon, a giant and majestic black wolf with red and dark blue crystalline patterns on its regal fur was curled up. Over its back, it had triangular spikes of magical blue frostfire fur, semi-physical, growing out of its spine on the back.
Its eyes were open and glittering with a red spark in them as the blood blade tore open the cocoon before Alfred peeked out and howled.
"Awooo!"
"Haha, you became smaller."
As the cocoon dispersed into motes of spirit and vanished, Alfred sat upright on its hidden legs while his front paws caressed his face and neck, which had crystal scales.
"Woof!" Alfred barked with his tongue out, excitement in his eyes.
It was a meter tall with lush fur as well as a crystalline structure on it.
From Silver rank onward, each time a Monster ranked up, they would start from the Young-stage because the Infant-stage was only for Bronze rank newborn monsters.

And as John inspected his buddy, he couldn't help but open his mouth wide in amazement.
'Wow!'

'Forstfire? That's an advanced attribute!' John's eyes glimmered.
He laughed and ruffled Alfred's head, "You lost some skills, but these new ones are badass sounding enough. Let's go out and have some fun."
After waking up Pymon to stay on guard around the camp, John went out to hunt, and everyone who saw him was dumbstruck.
"Already a Silver-rank Pet Monster?!"
"How did he evolve it so fast?!"
"There's one more guy who has a cocoon in his camp at the center, showing it off, but this guy already evolved his monster."
"It looks so powerful. What kind of monster is that in the first place? I've never seen it."
John paid no attention to the words as he went to test the new skills of evolved Alfred.
Unfortunately, there were no Silver-rank Monsters so Alfred wouldn't grow as fast as previously, not to mention that the growing period increases the higher the rank of the monster.
Without Silver-rank opponents, Alfred had no real challenges, so after John checked out the skills and hunted some new monsters to acquire their Geno Points, he began hunting for some veggies.
There was no lack of meat, but he always liked some veggies with meat and fruits for dessert.
Moreover, he also needed to find a Bronze-rank resource. After all, now that Alfred had evolved to Silver rank, it was time for him to rank up and unlock more features of the Rune of New Beginning!
