King of Hollywood-Chapter 194 - : The Girl Blocking the Way
Chapter 194: Chapter 194: The Girl Blocking the Way
That little girl was about twelve or thirteen years old, very petite with long, curly brown hair. She had a slightly round face, delicate features, and especially bright eyes that seemed to hide a touch of pride and an unyielding spirit.
“I am so glad to see you again, dear.” Although Adrian greeted her in his mind, his attention was still fixed on the man in front of him.
“Hello, Mr. Adrian, I am Sandy Dodd, you may not know me, I work under Mr. Lederman,” the man introduced himself with a sincere and confident smile.
“Lederman? Fels?” Adrian raised his eyebrows, “Yes, I know him, he is one of the company’s best agents. You work under him? Very good, you can learn a lot from him, and you will be outstanding like him.”
It seems my agents have signed someone impressive, I should probably reward them well.
“Thank you, I believe so too, I have always been working hard,” Sandy’s smile warmed considerably, “but I am here now to secure another audition opportunity for my employer.”
“Another audition opportunity?” Adrian pretended to be puzzled as he looked at him.
“I believe I am entirely entitled to a second audition,” the little girl stepped forward, standing in front of Sandy, chest out, looking at Adrian with confidence in her voice.
“Is that so, miss?” Adrian smiled slightly, “Sorry, may I know your name?”
“Natalie, Natalie Helarg.” The little girl looked intently at him, her confidence even more pronounced.
“Well, Miss Natalie, why do you think I should give you a second chance?” Adrian propped his chin, looking at her with interest, and couldn’t help but internally sigh: She really is a delicate porcelain doll.
“May I?” Natalie suddenly stepped back, making space.
Could it be that scene now? Adrian slightly raised his eyebrows and gestured for her to proceed with a smile.
The little girl coughed lightly, closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, her whole demeanor subtly changed. Her eyes showed a hint of sorrow and affection as she said in a soft, emotional tone, “Lyon, I think I’m in love with you.”
She performed unrestrainedly in the apartment’s lobby, and although there was no one to feed her lines, she paused appropriately for the other person’s lines before continuing in the same tone, “This is my first love, you know?”
A faint smile played on her lips as if she was recalling some pleasant memory.
“Because I feel it.”
“In my stomach… It’s warm there, where it used to feel like it was knotted, but not anymore.”
Her delivery was seamless, with only slight changes in her facial expressions, perfectly matching the emotions of the lines. The sorrow, the smile, the resolve, and the unforgettable expressions vividly captured the image of a lonely, stubborn girl, as if Matilda was standing right in front of him.
Although he had expected this outcome, Adrian’s eyes still lit up uncontrollably as soon as the little girl finished her performance and he promptly clapped his hands, regardless of the surprised looks from people coming and going in the apartment.
“Very impressive, truly a huge surprise. However, with your performance just now, it’s impossible I missed you during the first audition,” Adrian said in admiration, feigning a puzzled look.
“Because during the audition, you were actually talking to someone else,” the girl named Natalie shrugged her shoulders, “So, Mr. Adrian, may I now have a second audition opportunity?”
“Of course.” Adrian nodded without hesitation. The reason he had deliberately ignored her during the first audition and let her be rejected was to see if she would, like in his memories, actively approach the director to promote herself while also taking the chance to observe her character.
Now that his purpose had been fulfilled, he naturally wouldn’t miss out on casting her for “The Professional,” especially after going to such lengths to secure Jean Reno and preemptively stop Luc Besson’s creative possibilities, all for Miss Natalie Portman, oh, now Natalie Helarg.
“Honestly, with your outstanding performance just now, I am almost certain that you are the right choice for the role. But to be fair, you still need to go through a second audition,” Adrian complimented her briefly.
The little girl was still just a girl, although she was smart and confident, she still showed a happy expression when she heard the praise.
“Thank you, Mr. Adrian,” she giggled, slapped her agent and happily ran toward a person who had been standing nearby, then chattered like a joyful little skylark.
Only then did Adrian notice there was a middle-aged woman standing nearby, probably in her thirties, who bore a resemblance to the little girl—it didn’t take much to guess this was Natalie’s mother.

“You have an outstanding daughter, Ms. Shelly,” Adrian said after introducing himself and immediately extended his hand.
“Thank you, I’ve always thought so,” Shelly watched her daughter with a touch of pride in her response.
After a few more pleasantries and confirming contact information with Sandy, they all said their goodbyes and left, while Adrian watched them leave before going back to the apartment.
Very good, this is really exciting. Adrian thought to himself with a smile as he returned to the lobby of the apartment. Then he suddenly paused, recalling that as the little girl was leaving, he faintly heard her say “See, I told you, take advantage of your own…” to Sandy, and there was a hint of smugness in her tone.
It seemed something wasn’t right? The thought crossed Adrian’s mind, but he immediately shook his head with a smile and put it out of his mind, quickly walking over to Charli and wrapping his arm around her shoulder, “Alright, let’s go upstairs.”
Charli immediately stepped to the right, discreetly freeing herself from his grasp, then gave him a half-smile half-serious look, “You seem quite interested in that girl.”
“Of course, it’s my first time seeing such a talented and confident girl,” Adrian didn’t deny it, then waved his hand and didn’t make any more intimate gestures, “Let’s go back to the room first.”
Taking the elevator to the ninth floor, he greeted the person in charge of the crew living on the same floor, then led Charli to the room that was arranged for her.
“I knew it, you definitely wouldn’t arrange for me to stay anywhere else,” Charli hummed after surveying the room. It was an apartment similar to the ordinary residences in New York, with a kitchen and living room connected, a long sofa and two single sofas placed in the living room, a small coffee table, decorated quite exquisitely; however, the key was that the bedroom had two beds, and on the sofa, coffee table, and cabinets were all Adrian’s things.
“This makes it easier for us to communicate, or would you prefer to share a bed with me?” Adrian asked her with a grin.
“You’re dreaming again,” Charli rolled her eyes at him and pulled her suitcase toward her room.
“Why shouldn’t I dream,” Adrian followed her inside and began helping her unpack, “You know, a person who doesn’t dream is really quite pitiful.”
“That depends on what kind of dreams,” Charli continued to hum lightly. As she walked past Adrian, he suddenly pulled her by the waist and drew her close into his embrace on the bed.
“Ed!” Charli protested just before Adrian silenced her with a kiss. After fruitless muffled noises, she reluctantly wrapped her arms around his neck, reciprocating the kiss.
“What are you thinking about?! Have you ever considered my feelings!” Charlize glared at him angrily after they parted, although the slight blush on her cheeks appeared more like a feigned anger.
“I’ve just been missing you, Charli, even though it’s only been just over a month, I already feel like I can’t do without you,” Adrian caressed her cheek lovingly, then lay down pulling Charli down with him onto the bed.
The lady did not speak, just looked at him with a complex expression, then sighed and tried to sit up. Adrian immediately grabbed her wrist; unlike before, Charli didn’t struggle free but turned her head and continued to look at him with the same expression.
Adrian smiled slightly, let go of her hand, watched her walk out of the room, and then sat up. He wasn’t worried because the exquisite women’s watch Charli wore on her wrist was a gift he had given her that day.
With the arrival of Charli, Adrian’s efficiency in handling matters improved by at least twenty percent. He had to admit, she was smart and good at learning. Although this was her first time being involved in filming, she spent just half a day getting to understand the work and became competent, then another half day to harmonize, establishing a basic understanding with the crew.
Together with the perfect performance of the person Adrian wanted in front of him, the first audition ended two days ahead of schedule. Next would naturally be arranging the second audition for the ten selected girls. Although he was eager to visit Liv lest someone get there first, he decided to postpone doing so for now.
After all, the casting for Matilda was confirmed, they would definitely visit Natalie’s house after the second audition, and he might as well see Liv then—it was only a matter of a few days and wouldn’t lead to any mishaps. After all, other departments were preparing smoothly, just waiting for the actors to be in place so that filming could begin.
The reason for holding a second audition despite already having confirmed the role wasn’t really about fairness, but because, among the girls attending the audition, aside from Liv, there was a surprise. Adrian was curious to see to what extent she could perform, which is why he had specifically arranged to have a one-on-one talk with each girl after their auditions.
