Kiss the Scumbag-Chapter 72
Yujin also froze at the unexpected reaction. What's wrong with him? Tilting his head slightly, he watched Winston remain still. He didn’t even blink; his eyes locked in place without the slightest flicker. Slowly, he parted his lips. His face was blank, like someone whose soul had left their body. Embarrassed for no reason, Yujin averted his eyes and licked his dry lips. At that moment, he felt the little girl in his arms hesitate.
Huh?
Confused by her sudden reaction, he glanced at Angela, who was hesitantly peeking toward Winston. Ah, is it because of Angie? Making his own guess at Winston’s behavior, Yujin, the quintessential doting father, relaxed his lips into a smile.
“Angie, say hello. Say ‘Nice to meet you.’”
At his gentle prompting, Angela mumbled reluctantly, then buried her face into Yujin’s shoulder. The sight was so adorable, Yujin couldn’t help but laugh and continued speaking.
“Isn’t Angie so pretty today? It’s her first time with this hairstyle, and it’s really cute, suits her so well. This dress, we bought it last time we went out...”
Yujin kept going, endlessly praising just how beautiful his daughter was. He had only meant to say a quick hello and head back to the room, but once he started talking, he couldn’t stop. His cheeks even flushed a bit as he rambled on, his mouth going dry from the compliments—but Winston was still just staring at his face. Yujin leaned his head toward Angela and added one more thing.
“Today, Angie is the cutest girl in the whole world.”
Just as he nuzzled his cheek against hers with a smile, Winston’s parted lips finally let out a sound.
“...Yeah.”
The low voice was hoarse, mixed with breath. Yujin, still holding the child in his arms, looked down at him. What’s going on? Was he that surprised because Angie came to greet him? Suddenly, something brushed past his thoughts.
Maybe it’s because Angie is too pretty?
Seeing him look so stunned made Yujin feel guilty. Just how badly had he been dressing her all this time? It pained him to think that such a beautiful child had looked so unkempt because he hadn’t taken proper care of her.
He looked down at the girl in his arms with a pitying expression—then suddenly sensed something strange. Turning his head, he saw Winston still standing motionless. Perplexed, Yujin called out his name.
“Winston?”
Winston’s gaze stayed fixed on Yujin’s lips, which were slowly moving. He seemed to snap out of it then—the dazed look vanished. His eyes widened, his lips parted like he was about to speak. Yujin waited, slightly tense, but Winston suddenly furrowed his brows.
Startled, Yujin flinched, and just then Winston mumbled something under his breath, then abruptly leapt up the stairs, skipping three steps at a time.
“Hiiik...”
Startled by Winston's sudden appearance at the landing, Yujin gasped. But Winston stormed past him and strode down the hallway at incredible speed. The butler chased after him almost at a run, leaving only Yujin and Angela behind.
“What the...”
Muttering to himself as he stared at the receding figure, Yujin suddenly remembered his daughter and looked at her in alarm. Fortunately, Angela seemed unaffected. He sighed in relief and spoke softly so she wouldn’t be scared.
“You did great, Angie. Were you scared just now?”
In fact, he hadn’t planned on letting Angela and Winston run into each other often. His intention was to keep them from seeing each other as much as possible.
Still, he’s her papa...
Even if they pretended not to know each other, Yujin couldn’t help feeling uneasy. Today was the day of the party, and he’d decided to let them meet with a brave heart—but the result was not what he expected. Winston’s strange reaction and his daughter’s wary glances made Yujin anxious.
“Huh? No.”
When his daughter shook her head, he was puzzled. So she wasn’t scared?
“Was it the scent or something?”
He asked, and Angela mumbled, Yeah, that was it.
“I wasn’t scared because Daddy was there, but then all of a sudden, it hit me...”
“All of a sudden?”
Startled, he repeated her words, and Angela nodded.
“At first it was faint, but then suddenly it got really strong. It wasn’t like before when it felt like something was pressing down on me, but still, yeah...”
Angela tilted her head, searching for the right words, then spoke with a serious look on her face.
“It... it tickled.”
“It tickled?”
“Yeah.”
She nodded again as if to confirm it.
“It was like something was tickling me right here. It felt all tingly and my heart was pounding.”
She placed her small hands on her chest and let out an excited breath. Yujin blinked a few times, then chuckled with a soft ah.
“That’s because you were just too cute.”
“Me?”
“Yeah.”
He nuzzled her cheek again and said,
“Didn’t you see earlier? Mr. Campbell was completely shocked when he saw you. Today, you look just like a princess. There’s no child in the world prettier than Angie.”
“Really?”
“Of course.”
As Angela’s eyes sparkled, Yujin hugged her tightly and smothered her cheek with kisses. Winston’s behavior had definitely been strange, but Yujin was certain it wasn’t because of him. There’s no way that man would be dazed just from seeing Yujin. Which meant there was only one answer.
He was stunned to see Angie greet him.
That kind of reaction might have been a bit much, but Yujin brushed it off and smiled at his daughter instead.
“Let’s wear more pretty clothes from now on, Angie.”
The will had stated they would be provided with everything needed to live comfortably. Yujin decided he would use that to buy clothes for Angela.
Even when we leave this place, I’ll bring some of her new dresses with us.
That much should be fine, he thought, putting aside his unease as he looked up at the massive new chandelier being installed.
Anyway, to people like them, that kind of money wouldn’t even count as pocket change.
As soon as he entered the room, Winston ripped off his suit jacket and hurled it onto the sofa. Thud—the heavy thump echoed as it landed. The butler, who had caught up behind him, quickly picked it up and slung it over his arm, then bent repeatedly to grab the tie and cufflinks that followed.
“I’ll prepare your change of clothes.”
He called out as Winston headed straight for the bathroom, but the man gave no reply and simply slammed the door shut behind him. He immediately stepped into the shower and turned the cold water on full blast. The icy stream ran down his body, but it did nothing to cool his burning skin.
“Damn it!”
With a curse, he punched the wall—but of course, it changed nothing. What the hell was that? Yujin had definitely been taking suppressants. There was no pheromone scent at all.
And yet...
Why had he completely lost it the moment ✪ Nоvеlіgһt ✪ (Official version) he saw Yujin at the top of the stairs, holding that child?
His soft cheeks were flushed, his neatly combed hair exposed his round forehead, and his nose—smooth and perfectly shaped—flowed into those lips, those goddamn lips.
Remembering it, Winston slammed his fist into the wall again and again. He was too shaken to feel any pain. The moment he saw Yujin’s face, he froze. Only his heart had been racing wildly, just like the first time they met. Ah, the way Yujin looked standing on that landing... it was exactly the image he’d dreamed of.
Yujin, holding their child, smiling, and welcoming him.
Get a grip. That’s his father’s child.
Winston hurled curses at himself. Yujin betrayed me. He even gave birth to my father’s child. That fact will never change.
He forced himself to breathe slowly, to cool his head. His reason gradually returned.
Don’t forget your purpose.
Winston reminded himself coldly. The two of them only made a temporary deal for the inheritance. Once the child was conceived, everything would end. Yes, all that mattered was getting Yujin pregnant.
Without thinking further, he began washing his hair. The party would start soon. He knew exactly what he had to do. Winston quickly finished the shower and stepped out of the bathroom.
