Kiss the Scumbag-Chapter 89
“I-I’m not sure what you’re saying! Enough!”
Yujin, blinking in a daze, suddenly understood and recoiled in fright, pushing him away. Without hesitation, he dashed into the fitting room. Winston laughed out loud but quickly it turned into a bitter smile. Sighing, he muttered to himself.
“I was serious.”
Haa, haa.
Closing the door hurriedly and now alone, Yujin finally gasped for breath and patted his chest. Really, that was going too far as a joke. Pouting his lips, he lifted his head and immediately caught sight of himself in the full-length mirror covering one wall. His cheeks flushed bright red, and his unusually shining eyes revealed his excitement clearly. Embarrassed, he covered his cheeks with both hands as his heart began to pound fiercely.
‘Sweetheart.’
He thought he heard Winston’s whisper again. Feeling like his heart would explode, Yujin covered his face with both hands.
“Haah.”
Winston yawned loudly, drawing surprised looks from everyone around. His mother was the one who frowned and scolded him.
“What are you doing at the table, Winston? That’s rude.”
“Sorry, I’m a bit tired.”
Though the apology lacked sincerity, his mother’s expression quickly softened.
“Don’t overwork yourself. You’re doing well enough.”
The other children looked on in disbelief, but she simply smiled warmly at Winston, her gaze fixed on him.
Winston had started working at the company even before entering university. Having shown early interest in investment since middle school, he began seriously investing after going to England and, since becoming a university student, had worked at his father’s company during every vacation. His father warned him he wouldn’t treat him specially, and indeed he didn’t, but his satisfaction with Winston’s obvious results was clear. Winston’s judgment was sharp, never hesitated over bold investments, and each time produced astonishing returns.
His most recent huge profit further solidified his position. Mrs. Campbell was optimistic that Winston could hold a significant position at the company right after—or even before—graduation. The oldest and largest investment company in the U.S. had a bright outlook, and its stock price was rising daily.
It would have been perfect if not for the recent unpleasant incident.
“Father is late again today.”
Gordon remarked, and Mrs. Campbell answered coldly as usual.
“The company is in that state; he can’t help being busy. It’ll be resolved soon.”
“It won’t be easy.”
Hearing the indifferent voice, everyone looked toward one spot. Winston, casually cutting his steak, continued.
“At least half a year, maybe even years. Tax evasion is a serious crime.”
Everyone went silent. Only occasional clinks of cutlery broke the quiet dining room. Cautiously, Katherine spoke up.
“Is that really true? Father committing tax evasion? Impossible.”
“Actually, it was the board members,” Winston said briefly. She glared at him but quickly lowered her eyes, noticing their mother’s gaze. After sipping wine, Mrs. Campbell calmly said.
“Harold will handle it well. The company won’t collapse over this, right?”
Looking at her son for agreement, Winston simply replied.
“There’s no impact on company profits. Investments and management are going well. The lawyers will handle it. Father will be very busy for a while, but there’s nothing for us to worry about.”
“Good then. Don’t mind it.”
With Harold absent, Mrs. Campbell’s word was practically law in the household. Everyone shut their mouths, but some clueless person was bound to appear anywhere.
“Who could’ve done such a thing? An anonymous tax evasion report? There must be a serious reason to shake the company upside down like this.”
Katherine gave a meaningful glance, but Jason failed to catch it and babbled on.
“Because of that, Father can’t go to the annex lately, right? I heard from a servant that he’s been so sleepy in the morning because of what he does all night. Maybe he’s secretly having fun with someone else without Father knowing?”
“Jason.”
Gordon called his brother’s name sharply. Shrugging his shoulders, Jason finally lowered his head and hurriedly stuffed meat into his mouth. Amid this series of incidents, Winston calmly continued eating, as if Harold’s crisis had nothing to do with him.
But Jason’s words were deeply engraved in Winston’s mind. It was Winston himself who had recently been going out every night with Yujin. It hadn’t been discovered yet, but if it continued, eventually it would be known. Of course, Winston had already anticipated that situation but had things to do before revealing their relationship.
I need to hurry.
Counting dates in his mind, Winston finished his glass of wine.
“Whaaa!”
Yujin shouted loudly, stretching both hands up to the sky like a victorious cheer. Today, they were driving on the freeway with the convertible’s top down. Surprisingly, just the two of them under the bright shining sun.
“This is fun, amazing!”
Yujin cheered nonstop, not knowing what to do with his excitement, and Winston just smiled. It was a little adventure but as expected, it was a success. Now they were heading toward a villa on a fairly distant lot together.
Winston had taken a vacation from the company a week ago. Despite being insanely busy due to internal company issues, if anyone else had taken vacation, they would have heard plenty of complaints, but Winston was Harold’s son. Having gotten a two-week vacation, Winston immediately informed Yujin. Yujin was so amazed he felt like he might faint from the idea that he could leave the mansion in broad daylight and go on vacation elsewhere, but anxiety showed before joy.
“Can we really leave here? How? Everyone can see us, in broad daylight? For several days?”
It was only natural for him to worry about Harold. Harold was the absolute ruler of the mansion. But Winston had already anticipated this.
“It’s okay, don’t worry. I’ll handle everything.”
Winston hugged Yujin and lightly kissed his lips.
“Do you trust me?”
Smiling, he asked, and Yujin’s eyes sparkled as he nodded.
“I trust you, Winston.”
Winston smiled again and this time shared a longer kiss. Then, two days later as promised, he put Yujin in the convertible and slipped out of the mansion—in broad daylight.
“How on earth did you do that?”
After his excitement settled somewhat, Yujin asked. Because of the loud wind, he had to shout, and Winston praised loudly too.
“Simple. I said you had measles.”
“What?”
Yujin shouted in surprise, but Winston said casually.
“Because if others got infected after contact, it’d be a big problem, so I said I’d take you to the hospital. I don’t catch most diseases.”
“H-But...”
Yujin was impressed with Winston’s quick thinking but couldn’t shake his worries. He was worried about Winston, but Winston understood it quite differently.
“I gave you vaccinations last time. Don’t worry.”
That wasn’t all. Winston wanted to give Yujin everything he deserved but never had. First, he had him do a health check-up, and gave him all the vaccinations he could get, even if late. What weighed on him was that it was all nighttime activity. Anyway, nothing was worse for the body than not sleeping at night.
That’s over now.
Winston thought as /N_o_v_e_l_i_g_h_t/ he drove. This trip was definitely to solidify their relationship. Revealing it to the family would come after. Above all, Yujin’s feelings were important.
Yujin likes me for sure, but he might not be thinking about marriage...
Winston kept all possibilities open. If Yujin’s heart wasn’t there yet,
I’ll make it so during this chance.
His resolve was firm. If Yujin didn’t want it, he would make him want it. No matter what happens, he would never let Yujin go.
Winston believed this without hesitation.
