Legendary Beast Master: Starting with Contracting SSS Rank Dragon-Chapter 41: The Truth Behind Tharnyx
Chapter 41 - The Truth Behind Tharnyx
The moment Kael stepped inside the dark entrance, he felt as if he had passed through a thin, invisible membrane. It checked not only his physical body but also went deeper to check his soul.
After a few seconds of waiting, Kael received a notification.
[Identification completed!]
[Welcome to the Labyrinth of Tharnyx!]
[Congratulations! You are the first to discover the forgotten Labyrinth in the last five hundred years.]
[Reward: Double EXP for the next one week achieved.]
[Have a fun Adventure.]
The voice was different from the feminine voice he was used to, so he concluded that it was the Labyrinth which spoke directly to him.
A grin formed on his face as he laughed and said, gripping his hand into fists, "Yes! First step completed."
He turned around and gestured to the lion family to move forward. Kiona was the first one to dash forward without hesitation as she also passed through the thin membrane.
Standing beside Kael, she thought of the strange feeling she just had. It was as if the Labyrinth wanted to reject her existence, but due to her bond with her master, she was allowed inside.
"It's just as I thought," Kael smiled. "Tamed Beasts of a Beast Tamer are considered a part of their power, and they are allowed inside the Labyrinth."
It was a loophole he could use to his advantage.
Kiona looked up at him and asked, "Does that mean only those who serve us can enter the Labyrinth?"
Kael nodded.
"Then, we can use this to negotiate with many races who prefer to live peacefully as much as they can," she said thoughtfully. "But it's also dangerous, as you will be targeted by others' greed, not to mention those vile churches."
Kael didn't respond, as he was aware of the problems but didn't really have a solution. That was also why he wanted to first increase his strength before establishing his nation properly.
By then, the twins had also arrived inside the Labyrinth, though the space became cramped due to their size.
Before going down, Kael thought about the notification he had received, 'Last time someone came here was around 500 years ago?'
[Apparently. And the double EXP reward is similar to your 3x increment perk and is stackable, so you will have 6x gain in Soul Power. I think your tamed beasts share the same time limited perk.]
It was a pleasant surprise that Kael happily welcomed and he asked Kiona, "Do you know someone named Tharnyx?"
The twin lions were confused upon hearing the familiar name, but Kiona nodded and said, her voice turning soft and respectful, "He was one of the Beast Generals under the Beast God in the Fourth Epoch. That's what my father told me."
"So, not all Labyrinths are made by Gods, huh," Kael said, looking down. "We have a week to explore and rank up, and if possible, clear it."
That was pretty much impossible for the current them, but it was still better to announce his final goal early on. He knew Labyrinths could be cleared, and once that happened, one could get a Labyrinth Key, which allowed them to control the Labyrinths to a certain extent.
"It is his Labyrinth?" Kiona was surprised. She grew up hearing many legends from her father, and those naturally included Tharnyx, the Shadow General of the Beast God.
Even though he was a Shadow Beast, he was very courageous and had even saved the Sunmane Pride from extinction once, so she greatly respected him.
Kael nodded and began to descend into the Labyrinth's stairs. He also counted them, and upon reaching the bottom, he thought, '67!'
He took a step forward and found himself in a small room. There was nothing else except for a wooden door, two lamps burning on both sides of it, and a plaque upon which strange words were written.
Kael stopped as his eyes widened with shock filling them. He couldn't help but rub his eyes to make sure he was seeing right.
Kiona caught up to him, and seeing his face full of disbelief, she asked, "What happened, Master?"
When he didn't answer, she followed his gaze and found him looking at the plaque with strange symbols. She guessed it was some kind of language used in the Fourth Epoch, but why did it shock her master? Could he actually read it?
Meanwhile, Kael's mind was reeling from the shock as he read the words on the plaque.
"Beware of the Fire! Don't trust the Gods! Don't worship them!"
However, that wasn't what truly shocked him. It was the fact that the words were written in clear English. He couldn't comprehend how the language of Earth ended up here.
'Didn't all of the subordinates of the Beast God die alongside him? Or did they just mimic their deaths and escape to a different world?'
He found it extremely weird that a being from the Fourth Epoch would know English, especially since it was Modern English that he had studied.
But the Fourth Epoch ended 2000 years ago, and the Beast General was supposedly dead already. So how did he actually learn English?
Kael then thought of something else, a new possibility, 'Wait! Someone did visit this Labyrinth five centuries ago, then were they the one who carved this?'
It was possible. It also told him about the possibility that someone else also transmigrated here from Earth, and they probably came from the Modern era too.
But Kael also came from the Modern era, and his predecessor in transmigration arrived 500 years ago. It didn't make sense unless the two worlds had different flows of time.
He hoped to believe this theory because if the words were written by the Beast General himself, then things would get even more complicated.
Taking a deep breath, he went towards the plaque and touched it, feeling its material and the writing. His intuition didn't alert him of danger, so he was a little bolder.
[The writing and the plaque are at least 2200 years old.]
"Fuck!" He cursed out loud.
It just confirmed that the Beast General wrote this, which didn't make sense. It made his guess of different timelines more appealing.
However, that possibility both scared him and also gave him hope. It meant that he could stay here in this world for a few years, building up his strength and using the Astral World to reach Earth.
If luck was on his side, then not much time would have passed and he would be able to meet his family properly.
But the opposite could also be true. By the time he goes there, many decades might have passed, and Earth itself might have lost against the corruption.
The possibilities chilled his heart, and he had to take a deep breath to calm his pounding heart. As he raised his head to look at the plaque, he decided to explore everything related to Tharnyx.
He needed to know everything about him to solve the mysteries surrounding him and find the truth about the time difference between both worlds.
Perhaps, he had left behind more notes written in English across the world. His gaze turned heated as he looked at the wooden gate.
Now, this Labyrinth wasn't just a means for him to increase his strength but also a way to solve the mysteries around Tharnyx.
