Legendary Broken Player - VRMMORPG-Chapter 849 - - The Cliffside Escape
Broken was still preoccupied with what had just happened. His mind kept replaying the encounter with the spirits—were they really the forest elves of Vensalor? If so, what truly happened here? There was no denying that demons had something to do with it, but how deep did this mystery go?
He needed to investigate further.
But right now, there was something much bigger to worry about.
The monster was here.
And it wasn't alone.
Two names flashed before his eyes.
[Elite - Vaelgros Lv. 275]
[Elite - Vaelgros Lv. 285]
Two massive winged reptiles, their razor-sharp claws gleaming under the moonlight, were circling them like aerial hunters.
And then they dived.
With a thunderous impact, one of them slammed into the ground, sending a shockwave through the clearing. The force was enough to scatter the team, forcing them to dodge in different directions.
Broken landed in a crouch, immediately scanning the battlefield.
And that's when he saw it.
More monsters.
They weren't just dealing with the Vaelgros.
From the shadows of the trees, multiple creatures emerged.
Abyss Howlers - shadowy, wolf-like beasts with glowing red eyes, their bodies wreathed in mist. Ruin Sentinels - massive, ancient golem-like entities, their bodies cracked and eroded, yet still moving with deadly force. Venomfang Drakes - smaller draconic creatures, but fast and agile, their fangs dripping with deadly toxins.
This was a full-scale attack.
The team quickly regrouped, their weapons drawn, their faces set with determination but also uncertainty.
SexyGrill clicked her tongue. "Well, this is awful."
Vallrick cursed. "This is way too many."
Mizuki chimed in. "Fighting is possible… but the risk is high."
They could fight.
But winning was not guaranteed.
The levels were high. The numbers were worse.
And while Broken wasn't afraid to battle, he refused to let even one of them die.
His party was already debating amongst themselves, half-ready to charge in, half-second-guessing.
But in the end, they were all waiting for him.
Waiting for his decision.
Fight?
Or retreat?
Broken didn't hesitate. Without wasting another second, he summoned Beebot, the Crawling Carriage Golem.
"We're wasting time fighting these things," he said firmly. "There are too many of them, and their numbers keep increasing. As long as we can avoid them, that's the better option."
Nobody argued.
One by one, they jumped onto the carriage as Beebot started moving.
The golem crawled at full speed, its legs skittering across the open terrain, but the monsters weren't letting them go so easily. Attacks came from every direction—fangs, claws, weapons slamming against the reinforced body of the carriage.
From inside, the group fought back.
Arrows whistled through the air, piercing into the abyss howlers trying to leap onto them. Spells crackled as flames and bolts of energy lashed out against their attackers. Swords and spears clashed against monstrous bodies, knocking them away before they could overwhelm the carriage.
"This isn't going to stop anytime soon!" Vallrick shouted.
Mizuki's eyes flickered as she quickly scanned their surroundings. "There's an ocean nearby! If we head there, we might be able to shake them off!"
Broken didn't even hesitate. "Good enough—we're going!"
"Wait, wait, what if there are sea monsters?!" one of the Sexy Killers yelled.
"We'll worry about that later!" SexyGrill shot back.
Beebot raced through the open clearing under the pale light of the moon. The monsters continued their relentless assault, slamming into the carriage, trying to break in—but Beebot was tough. Every impact sent a brutal shockwave, but the golem held strong, pushing through as they neared their destination.
Then—
The land ended.
A sharp drop-off loomed ahead.
Mizuki pointed. "There! The ocean's right below!"
The others stared.
Vallrick's face twisted in disbelief. "Hold on—this isn't a beach, this is a CLIFF!"
Mizuki shrugged. "It's not as high as the waterfall from earlier."
SexyBloom gasped. "ARE YOU SERIOUS?! WE'RE JUST GONNA JUMP?!"
"This is stupid—Mizuki, you're insane!" one of the others shouted.
But the monsters were still closing in.
There was no other choice.
Beebot lunged forward—
And leaped.
The entire carriage soared over the edge of the cliff.
Then, in mid-air, Broken unsummoned Beebot.
The golem vanished in an instant—just as the monsters screeched to a halt at the cliff's edge, stopping before they could follow.
Meanwhile—
Everyone plummeted.
"AAAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!"
"MIZUKI, I HATE YOU!"
"WE'RE GONNA DIE!"
"IT'S NOT THAT HIGH, STOP SCREAMING!" Mizuki yelled back.
"But there are ROCKS!"
"WE'RE STILL GONNA DIE!"
And then—
SPLASH!
One by one, they hit the water, sinking deep before breaking back to the surface with gasping breaths.
The tension faded into laughter.
Adrenaline still rushed through their veins, but now that they had survived the chaos, they couldn't help but laugh about it. Floating in the dark ocean, wet and exhausted, they clung to the nearby rocks, trying to stay together in the dim moonlight.

"That was insane," Vallrick panted, still catching his breath.
"That was stupid. Mizuki, I swear, you're crazy."
Mizuki just grinned. "But we're alive, aren't we?"
SexyGrill laughed. "I gotta admit… that was kind of fun."
"Fun?! Nothing about tonight was fun!" one of the Sexy Killers groaned.
Before they could keep arguing, someone shushed them.
The Vaelgros were still circling above.
Half-submerged in the water, they pressed against the rocks, keeping their heads low. The creatures scanned the area for a while, but eventually, one by one, they turned away and left.
Only when the sky was finally clear did the group pull themselves onto shore, dripping wet and exhausted.
They slumped onto the dry ground, finally able to breathe.
"That was a disaster," Vallrick muttered.
"No, that was an adventure," Mizuki corrected, smirking.
SexyBloom sighed dramatically. "Nothing about tonight was an adventure. It was a horror movie."
"Yeah, I agree with Bloom," one of the others grumbled. "There was nothing fun about what we just went through."
Broken smirked as he shook off some of the water. "Well, at least it'll make a good story."
He had already contacted Ronan—their pickup was on the way. Soon, they'd be retrieved from the ocean. But there was still one more thing he needed to do.
"I'm going to check where the spirits went," he announced.
The others turned to look at him.
"You're seriously going after them?!" Vallrick asked, raising an eyebrow.
Broken nodded. "They were heading somewhere. I want to know why. For some reason, I feel like there's more to them than what they've told us."
SexyGrill crossed her arms. "Yeah, I thought the same thing. Especially when you mentioned the Elves of Vensalor—they clearly hated hearing that name."
Broken exhaled, considering her words. There was something off about their reaction. A history they didn't want to acknowledge.
If he stayed with the group, they could handle a fight against monsters together. But if he went alone, he could move stealthily. With Pawpaw's abilities, he could slip through unnoticed—as long as Pawpaw didn't complain.
Because ever since they had arrived on this island, the Demon Beast had shown zero interest in hunting.
Without wasting time, he summoned Polly, the flying fox.
Pawpaw climbed onto his shoulder immediately, its small claws gripping into his armor. Despite its usual laziness, it seemed ready for the ride.
A shadow surrounded them as they activated invisibility.
Then, with a powerful flap of Polly's wings, they soared into the night sky.
From above, Broken could still see the Vaelgros patrolling in the distance, but now they had no way of spotting him.
His eyes followed the direction the spirits had gone.
They had a destination.
And whatever it was—
Broken was about to find out.
