Legendary FBI Detective-Chapter 282: Start the Operation: Infiltrate the Bank!
Behind the police car, Luo An's words stunned everyone like a bomb.
Reesi and Mona frowned deeply, Morton York's expression was complex, and Potante Byrne's face was grave. The high-ranking bank executives stared at Luo An in astonishment.
No one at the scene doubted Luo An's courage, but despite his audacity, facing off against a group of well-trained robbers alone, with eight against one, bullets don't discriminate, and it would only take one stray shot for Luo An to lose any chance of leaving the bank alive.
However, this was how others saw it; Luo An himself never took action without certitude.
Deputy Group Leader Potante Byrne, upon noticing the expressions on the bank executives' faces, silently nodded and gravely said:
"OK, Deputy Group Leader Luo An Greenwood, this mission is yours."
"Don't worry, you know me. Wait for my good news."
First, Luo An winked at Mona and Reesi, then he spoke to Potante Byrne:
"Thank you, Chief, but I need some equipment!"
Before coming here, Luo An only had a Glock 18 and a few magazines, not even a bulletproof vest.
Although confident, he didn't want to appear too disheveled, and besides, to properly play the part, how could he not prepare a bit more to emphasize the danger of the mission?
"Just say what you need!"
At that moment, no one in the room would deny Luo An's request, whatever he needed, Potante Byrne nodded in agreement, directing his people to quickly bring the equipment to Luo An.
Soon, Luo An was wearing a bulletproof vest, had two stun grenades and two smoke bombs stuffed into his gear, and held a Glock 18, with two extended magazines tucked at his lower back.
There were only 13 minutes left until the time demanded by the bank robbers.
Mona and Reesi stood behind Luo An helping him adjust his clothes. Group Leader Potante Byrne asked in a grave voice:
"How do you plan to enter the bank?"
In movies, people could crawl through ventilation ducts, but in reality it wasn't possible, and both the front and back doors of the bank were guarded by armed robbers.
"It's simple, just go from above."
Luo An grinned, this small matter wouldn't trouble him. Since he couldn't go through the front or back and digging underground wasn't an option, then he would go from above.
At that moment, FBI Los Angeles headquarters delivered three laptop-sized jammers, and a smartphone capable of taking and transmitting photos. Luo An stuffed them into a pack strapped to his back, then nodded to Mona, Reesi, Potante Byrne, and all the bank executives before he quickly moved towards the side of the bank.
The action plan for this mission was simple:
Luo An would sneak into the bank, attempt to photograph the bombs and transmit the pictures so the agents from the Bombs Disposal Department could determine the remote control methods of the bombs before deciding whether to activate the jammers.
Once the jammers were activated, they would storm the bank and swiftly neutralize the robbers.
If the jammers were ineffective, Luo An would adapt accordingly, with SWAT and LAPD members ready to receive his commands from outside.
"Let's not mess around, just stand at the door and wait for him to return!"
Group Leader Potante Byrne still stood behind the vehicle, as if nothing had happened, quietly waiting for Luo An's voice to transmit through the communicator on the side.
Meanwhile, Jack stood in a vast server room, looking at his watch, asking:
"How much longer?"
The world-class hacker Esodo Charlek Dujak stood next to him, his fingers flying crazily over the laptop keyboard, his face unnaturally flushed:
"Almost there! Almost there!"
Jack's brow furrowed slightly:
"You better hurry, we only have 5 minutes left!"
"OK, OK!"
The hacker Esodo didn't even lift his head, lying beside them was a body that had been shot in the forehead, the very bank manager who had handed over the keys.
————
At this moment, at the side of the "Federal Bank".
This street is in a well-known affluent area of Los Angeles, with all the houses on the street not very tall; the bank building itself is only four stories high.
Without any noticeable movement, Luo An glanced at the distant sniper, pulling out a bottle of stamina potion and a bottle of feather falling potion from an inconspicuous angle and gulped them down.
Feeling his body become very light, Luo An slightly raised the corners of his mouth, ran forward a few steps, stomped heavily on the ground with both feet, and with a forward reach grabbed the top of the first-floor window frame, then with force pulled himself up, his hands reaching the bottom of the second-floor window.
Silently pushing open the window, Luo An's figure flashed as he flipped into the unmanned room on the second floor.
The series of movements Luo An performed while climbing the building left several snipers in the vicinity dumbfounded, all astonished by the gripping strength and arm force Luo An exhibited.
All of them were SWAT members. After a brief comparison, they all realised they couldn't replicate Luo An's recent demonstration.
"This Deputy Group Leader of the Special Investigation Team is indeed no ordinary person!"
"I wonder how he trained!"
From the second to the fourth floor of the "Federal Bank" were VIP customer areas, office areas, and storage service areas.
The robbers' activities were only in the first-floor lobby, the semi-basement vault, and the front and rear doors, so no one noticed Luo An when he entered the second-floor room.
The internal surveillance of the bank had been destroyed by the gang of robbers, whose intent was to prevent the LAPD or FBI from observing the bank's interior through cameras, but the destroyed surveillance now conveniently facilitated Luo An's secret entry into the bank.
Walking quietly through the second-floor corridor of the bank, Luo An passed the elevator and slowly moved to the staircase, descending smoothly to the first floor.
The staircase was located deep in the first-floor lobby, diagonally behind the bank counter, some distance from where the hostages were located, but directly opposite the bank counter.
Several hostages tied with bombs were sitting together in the lobby; the bank counter's direction could not capture the bomb, the only place that could capture the appearance of the bomb was the manager's office on the other side.
There were a total of eight robbers inside the bank, two guarding the back door and two guarding the front door.
Two were unaccounted for, likely Jack and the hacker, who were probably in the server room at this moment, leaving only two robbers guarding the hostages in the lobby.
Because all the hostages were tied together with bombs, the two robbers were quite relaxed, holding guns while chatting cheerfully:
"After this operation, I'm going to marry my girlfriend."
"That's a great idea! By the way, I heard your girlfriend is pregnant?"
"That's right."
"What does your girlfriend's husband think?"
"He's very unhappy, currently in the process of divorcing my girlfriend, so I plan to have a serious chat with him after this is over."
"..."
Hidden in the shadows, Luo An rolled his eyes. He had previously been worried about the potential failure of their operation, but now hearing the robbers practically jinx themselves, Luo An felt reassured.
Removing and hiding his belongings, Luo An moved like a ghost in the shadows to the manager's office, unseen by the hostages.
From his pocket, he took out his phone, took more than a dozen photos of the bomb on the hostages across from him and transmitted them externally.
After completing the photography, Luo An silently returned to the staircase from the back of the manager's office.
Outside the bank, a few agents from the improvised explosive device department received the photos and immediately began examining the specifics of the bomb.
At the same time, inside the bank, a familiar magnetic male voice suddenly accompanied footsteps, approaching from afar:
"Nine, Six, the operation is about to end, remember to stick to the plan!"
"OK!"
The two in the lobby nodded repeatedly, but the familiar male voice's footsteps seemed undeterred, and instead getting closer to the staircase where Luo An was located.
