Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!-Chapter 295: At His Wits End
**Long Chapter Again, sorry folks**
BANG
In a dorm room located on a higher floor than most students would be privileged to have access to, a young Ash Blond Lad could be seen storming around his living room and occasionally throwing random pieces of furniture or unfinished crafting projects at the wall in anger.
"FOUR FUCKING MONTHS!"
BANG
"I'VE WASTED FOUR FUCKING MONTHS HERE!" Aoni screamed without caring about whether or not someone would be able to hear the disturbances, likely due to the pre-installed noise-canceling formation he'd set up on his first day.
"FIVE DAYS HERE!(15 days Genovia)"
BANG
"AND ONLY TWO DAYS IN GENOVIA! (Technically 6)"
BANG
"AND ALL I HAVE TO SHOW FOR IT IS A BUNCH OF USELESS BULLSHIT KNOWLEDGE THAT I ALREADY KNEW BEFORE HAND!"
BANG
THUD
"Huff, huff, huff."
"You done with your little hissy fit, cause if not, there's still a chair and two tables left that you can smash on the wall," Charlotte said while taking out an earbud and looking up from her book.
That's right, Char had come for a visit, and after a lengthy conversation with Aoni that set him off, she'd been doing her best to ignore the temper tantrum her little brother had been going through for the last hour.
"You…ugh," sitting up and pointing aggressively at Charlotte, Aoni was about to say something, but chose not to and instead flopped back down on the carpet.
"Listen, I've been telling you for what, three weeks now that you were better off CLEPing your way to the second year, but NooOoOo why would you ever listen to me." Rolling her eyes, Charlotte closed her book with a loud snap, swung her legs over the edge of the couch, and dropped down on the floor beside her brother.
"I know, I know, it's just after what happened in my first week here, I've been avoiding drawing unnecessary attention. If I clep my way through the rest of this school year, the entire dean's department would be wondering how I pulled it off."
"Sigh, see this is why you need constant guidance, Ao, without someone watching your back, you stagnate, and look what's happened, you've lost almost a year in Genovia, instead of taking the easy road." Reaching over, Charlotte flicked Aoni in the forehead, making him flinch and glare at her.
"So says you, but if I magically complete all six courses, obtaining basic Passives in each one, along with passing all the written and practical exams, I may as well shine a spotlight on myself and say LOOK AT ME IMA FREAK."
"To be fair…"
"Shut it,"
"I'm just sayin' you do some freaky stuff sometimes."
"SIGH!"
"All I am hearing is excuses Ao, money isn't an issue, and from what you've told me, memorizing all the text books are simple, not to mention the crafting practicals, I don't see what the big deal here is, it's not like you plan on jumping straight to third or fourth year."
"I mean…I could." Aoni rebutted while holding his hand over his face and blocking another forehead flick.
"Look, the whole reason we are speaking in terms of jumping to the Second year is because Flume Access is opened up to 4 days a week, meaning you get to spend a lot more time in Genovia."
"Between your friend Damien and Archie, alongside your Attribute Notice's help, you shouldn't have anything to be afraid of."
| Charlotte Thurston has a point, it would be significantly more progressive for the host to take these tests and move forward in the curriculum than waiting around doing nothing for another 6 months, Terra Time |
"Hmph, lemmie guess, your AN just told you I was right," Char said with a cheeky grin.
"Shut up, I never said you were wrong, Char…it's just I am hesitant to do it, is all," Aoni complained while rolling over and facing the opposite direction from his sister.
"Just take the stupid tests, it's only a single year jump, happens all the time from what Archie told us, quit being a big scaredy cat and get to it…"
"Now then, how about you pick up this mess and start cramming every textbook into that empty skull of yours so that we can hurry up and see my nieces and nephews." Performing a kipup and dusting the particleboard off her outfit, Charlotte ended up back on the couch, leaving Aoni to clean up the dorm alone.
---
And that was how Aoni found himself sitting in a classroom, with his only company being six professors, as he spent all his Credit Points and even some acquired in classes or the University Trade Market on CLEP Tests and nervously awaiting his written score results.
"It's a pass from me." Prof 1 said with an amazed expression.
"Same." Short and to the point, Prof 2 seemed like she didn't want to be present.
"I have to say, the fact that Student Thurston was able to not only score a 100% on my exam but also acquire the Woodworking Passive is quite impressive." Whereas Prof 3 had quite a bit to say.
"I agree, I have no complaints about allowing him to progress to the second year of my field." Prof 4, aka Professor Langston, although sad to see his prized student would be moving on, was quite happy to see someone he'd mentored progress rapidly. frёewebnoѵēl.com
"Hm…it's quite suspicious that Student Thurston was able to score 100% on this exam, but seeing as he did it on all of yours as well, I have no issue with him moving up to Sophomore status." Prof 5, his stone-smithing professor, claimed while eyeing Aoni carefully.
And then there was the final Person in the room, the only one who had yet to speak, and who Aoni was most intimidated by.
"Student Thurston, tell me something," the familiar, Maevis, said while placing the completed exam paper on the table and carefully observing Aoni.
"What is making you rush through your freshman year? If there is something you are unhappy with, please let me know. After all, I was the one who recruited you to EFU."
"Um, Professor, it's not that I am unhappy with anything that EFU has offered, but I feel my time is being wasted at present. Having access to my Territory only 2 days out of the week is becoming more of a burden than I could have imagined, so my entire purpose behind taking all six CLEP tests and moving up a grade is to obtain more Flume Access." Aoni said truthfully, causing everyone of the professors to nod in understanding.
Since they had been his teachers for four months, each of them was aware of the restrictions brought about by his Attribute by now. While everyone in class could get some practical experience by crafting alongside their peers with provided materials, oftentimes, Aoni would be left out due to obvious reasons.
That being the case, on more than one occasion, the professors were forced into giving him "Busy Work," wherein he'd spend the entire class period writing and filling out random worksheets while everyone else got to work on projects.
So, it wasn't a stretch for Aoni to admit that his time at EFU was, in fact, a waste.
"I see…While I understand that you are being held back, if not handicapped by your Attribute, I still feel it's a bad idea to allow you to rush ahead during the window we give most students to acclimate to adult life." Maevis claimed while drumming her fingers on the table.
"However, given the fact that you've not only been an exemplary student on all fronts, and passed both the practical and written CLEP tests, it would be careless of me to dampen your resolve, thus I will give my approval as well. Congratulations, Student Thurston." Maevis said with a warm smile before informing him about how he'd be receiving further correspondence from EFU in the form of multiple emails later in the day.
---
Finally arriving back at his dorm, Aoni felt a bit shell-shocked, not because he'd passed the tests and been promoted to Sophomore but because of a special badge Maevis had given him.
"Fuck me, five days, haha. Now I only have to show up two days a week for classes. Mind you, I have twice the work to do, but it should be doable," Aoni said as he dropped onto his comfy couch and pulled up his profile on the University website through his Commu.
As expected, his schedule had been cleared, and Aoni was now free to pick and choose the order of what times and days he would head to class. This in and of itself was a massive boon, because he could now move things around if he wanted.
With that thought in mind, Aoni set up the rest of this month's schedule and then called Archie and Damien to double-check that nothing was going to bite him in the ass later.
