Limitless The Strongest Revenant-Chapter 1010: I’ll figure it out [1/2]
In anime, manga, or comics, it usually starts in the normal world. Then, something grants it power. Be it a virus, a world, a technology, or maybe even a profession. That thing would be what defines that world and sets it apart from the others.
It was cool to have powers. But they changed people. That was a common theme when they were introduced. The line defining a human usually blurred with the introduction of these foreign elements.
There were those that were acceptable and those that weren't. Usually, when the power was received in turn for a grave price, it changed the entire genre of the work. Because while everyone wished for more power, the price people could pay differed.
Funnily enough, if you were to classify the world of reapers, it would be dark fantasy. The ability to use souls was received at the price of death and eternal damnation.
"In exchange for a second life, Reapers forfeit the right to go to Heaven."
And if that was not enough, to get even stronger for Reapers had even greater costs. Humanity then memory, and there was still one more. But of course, while these are the ways Reapers can leverage to get stronger, I now have a different avenue.
"Exa, give me a quick tutorial on my new abilities."
[Understood, you begin with {Record}; this would allow your actions to be saved as entries in a log. The recording ends the moment you use {Pause}. Then, by invoking {Fast Forward}, you bring the actions to your body.]
"So, it's just like using {Auto}, {Save}, and {Rewind}?"
[Yes but remember that the differences in states will not manifest immediately. They have to manifest by doing the same action. You cannot suddenly change the recorded actions to something that was not record.]
"The hell does that mean?"
[It's hard to explain; you need to…]
"Never mind. It's okay; I'll figure it out."
After the whole malice thing, my body felt stiff. If people already considered me a demon before, what more now? I even had abilities that used malice. But somehow, it didn't really matter much. Power was neither good nor bad on its own.
'It would be decided by the will behind it.'
The same guns and swords that are used by criminals could be used by heroes. They are the same weapons, but the outcome would vastly change depending on who used them.
I stretched out my hand. "Give me my mace."
[Understood.]
As I walked towards the giant boar, the entire surroundings greatly differed from a moment ago. For one, the group I asked Roach to guard had been wiped out. Roach, Juno, and the other Vithriss were in the middle of salvaging the malice from their soulgems.
But that wasn't what put people off. It was the fact that the wolves were gathering the corpses and giving them to the Aegis Division. The Africans might not know, but those of Hellsend did. If you were given to the Aegis Division, it meant you would join them soon.
From their soulgems, bodies, and malice, I grew amazed. My army became experts at reusing the shit that others left behind.
Meanwhile, Olamide and his ground successfully restrained the wayward Induna. One of the wolves was curing her. As no one but the Sirens or Pixie could use {Restore} among the Reapers, it couldn't be helped. Over 200 Reapers even died.
'Couldn't be helped, huh? Somehow, I feel like I already think like a demon,' I murmured.
Depending on how important these people were, Hannibal might come after my head. But that hardly mattered at the moment. Considering what I intended to do, I treated them as merely the mortar needed to create the foundations I wished to build.
A second later, I felt the textured handle of my weapon in my hand. Its weight rested comfortably in my hand despite its ridiculous size. I heard the sound of various engines and rotors all vacating the place to which I was heading.
My children, who saw me approach, all left accordingly. A large board the size of a house slowly rose awkwardly to its feet. Although it was huge and intimidating, the boar was trembling. Its eyes kept looking at the spiked end of my weapon.
"## ####, ##### ####### ##!"
The boar opened its mouth but made no sound. Considering the crap this thing said about my women, I had no interest in listening. Besides, this person, for all their power, refused to fight the Hellsborn. They only came out after we cleaned up.
It meant either one of two things: one, they were busy, or two, they never planned to help anyway. Considering the things I learned from Exa and the girls, the first option was not likely. This was why I was fine with killing them all. They had no reason to exist.
I stopped just before the boar and lightly tapped its cheek with my mace.
"Listen here, fucker. I got something to test. If you can make it out alive after I'm through, I will let you go. Nod if you understand."
The giant pig vigorously shook its head.
"Good. {Record}," I said with a smile.
I widened my stance and slammed my feet on the ground. I wound my arms back with the mace. Then, like a baseball batter, I swung my weapon with all my might.
"################!!"
A sharp crunch echoed; the pig's entire body swayed as I smashed its face to the left. It wobbled. But I didn't care. Using the momentum of the first swing, I released my right hand. I twisted my left wrist and grabbed with both hands. Then, I swung again!
"#########################!!"
The power of my blow threw the pig to the right, knocking it off its feet. While its face grew bruised and swollen. Its body was relatively unharmed. As I let loose everything I had earlier, I knew just how sturdy this thing was.
Despite the soul-canceling properties of the Faker weapons, the boar's meat and immense bulk protected it. It was literally a wall of meat and flesh. The only reason my blows had immense power was mostly due to the {Carry} family. But it wasn't enough.

If I had to face Archdemons again in the future, I would want the ability to kill them in one blow. A move so powerful it could destroy this boar and all its bulk in one hit. That was mostly what gave birth to my new abilities.
But then my eyes noticed something for the first time. The black wisps around the pig and I began to converge on my hand. The attraction was quite weak. But the black stuff was definitely being drawn to me.
Thinking that didn't concern me, I jumped up high and brought my mace down as hard as I could onto the boar's skull. A loud crunch resounded. Blood began to burst from my opponent's head. As it was already down, it just fidgeted in place.
"Grit your teeth, Reaper. I am still not done yet."
Using the despair I felt from the malice cleansing, I pummeled the boar's skull till it broke completely. The skin and meat attached to its head fell down and reached its snout. The blood that spurted out turned fainter in color as something else spilled.
Seeing the gruesome state of my opponent, I finally stopped after what felt like a dozen blows. Although its face was fucked up, I knew this boar was still alive. After all, its soulgem was located in the depths of its heart.
