Lord Evolution: Starting With SS-rank Skills-Chapter 288: Calamity.(8)
The fight against the monsters calamities prevailed — Winterseed soldiers could be seen moving across the battlefield, brandishing their weapons and slaughtering monsters with precision and brute strength.
Merla and Eliman were dumbfounded seeing the performance of the supposed normal soldiers of Winter.
They were confused — The soldiers were supposed to be weak and human, considering they were from a very small village. They should face difficulties fighting against even FF‑rank monsters considering they are mere human soldiers with weapons and experience.
Nevertheless, the soldiers surpassed their expectations — They were fast, precise, and strong. They dealt with F‑rank monsters as though they were their equals.
Some of them even managed to take down a huge F‑rank monster with one attack!
"How!"
The two mages could not help but question the strength of the soldiers — How were they that inhumanly strong and fast? What sort of training had they taken to break through their human limit? What sort of miracle medicine were they fed with?
The more both of them question themselves, the more their confusion grew. They had no choice but to place the questions at the back of their mind and concentrate on their fights. Once it was over, they would surely satisfy their curiosity.
Aside those two, Dragun was also amazed.
"What sort of miracle happened during the week long hunting trip?"
Dragun wondered aloud as he observed Winston who was moving at a crazy speed through a crowd of monsters. Leaving corpse on his path.
"There are so many questions that even I cannot answer about my people."
Dragun shook his head — Throughout his journey outside the world, he had never heard of humans breaking past their human limitation just by hunting monsters. This was the first, and it sure was surprising.
The middle-aged mage, just like the two young mages was infected with a powerful curiosity that needed to be cured after the battle ended.
Dragun stood gallantly in front of an approaching group consisting of two dozen doomskulls. The middle-aged mage quickly weaved a spell, an fierce and elastic flame whip appeared in his hands, burning with intense heat and a fiery glow.
Dragun then clutched the fire whip and waved around at an inhumane speed.
The whip snaked through the air with impossible speed.
The next seconds, the entirety of the doomskulls were decapitated. Blood sprayed as the heads of the monsters rolled on the ground and their bodies collapsed.
The next second after they fell, a blazing flame engulfed them, burning their huge bodies, sparing not even their thick and strong skulls.
The corpse burnt rapidly, in a few seconds they had turned to nothing but ashes. Only their monster cores remained.
"My flame power sure has grown by a lot."
Dragun muttered as he fixed his gaze at another group of monsters approaching his position. He grinned and activated another flame magic spell.
FLAME BARRAGE!
A fiery‑colored magic formation appeared several meters above the ground. Flame spikes began shooting out of the fiery magic formation, they came out in two per seconds and moved at a disastrous speed towards the group of monsters.
"This will hold on for five minutes."
Dragun muttered to himself as he spotted a soldier getting overpowered by dozens of wolves.
PHEW! PHEW!
CLANG!
SMASH!
ROAR!
GROWL!
The battlefield was filled with a thunderous cacophony of chaotic sounds.
As time passes by, the battlefield grew hotter and even chaotic.
The first row of monsters consisted of F‑rank and E‑rank monsters. These monsters didn't pose that much strength to anyone. The F‑rank could be defeated easily in 1v1 while the E‑rank required at least 5 soldiers to take down.
As the battle continued — The soldiers got better at identifying the weaker monsters from the stronger one, thanks to nature providing discoverable hints about their strength.
They could tell the weak from the strong monsters by the intensity of their bloodlust. the stronger monsters produced more bloodlust, it could be felt from their blazing red eyes and one could even tell from their bestial growls.
Also, after their evolution, they could somewhat sense the presence of monsters and determine the strong for the weak.
Their discoveries so far haven't been completely accurate. Their ability to tell the strong from the weak so far, has entirely been based on luck.
A few times, when they attack the supposed weak monster solo, they are pushed back and brought to the verge of death. It is only thanks to the assistance of nearby comrades that most of them have been able to avoid death at this point.
Also, rarely, they judged wrongly and attacked the weak soldiers in small group. The results were the opposite of the first scenario, the monsters died easily under a single or a few attacks.
"I wished they had inspection skills like mine." Rowan muttered while stabbing the hard back of a 7 meter tall ape monster he was standing on.
The ape monster thrashed around, attempting to throw him off but Rowan balance were beyond natural. He was able to support his body with each stabs, regaining balance no matter how hard the ape struggled to shake him off.
In the process of thrashing around, the frustrated ape injured other smaller monsters around it. Which was the exact reason Rowan had delayed finishing off.
After the ape has successfully ruined the condition of dozens of its colleagues. He delivered the finishing blow and slashed its huge head off.
The head landed atop a struggling F‑rank snake monster. The snake monster was unfortunate, it was pounded to a unrecognizable state by the huge and heavy head of the ape monster.

Just like the past few minutes since the battle began, Rowan was bombarded with dozens of notification at once.
It was overwhelming and distracting, but he had long since gotten used to them.
"They are getting better at their judgement," Rowan noted, observing the soldiers while deflecting the attacks of two weak monsters half mindedly, "If only there was a way for them to inherit one of my skills."
