Chapter 40: Overpowered Rewards!

Heian Era.

[Mission completed]

[Host has caused very significant damage. A mere 47% of the damage that could have been done in other, larger landmarks]

[Host has successfully gained multiple rewards and ranked up to the "Overlord of Doom!"]

[System is now leveling up as per Host’s capabilities.]

....

Gojin stood calmly, a hint of amusement in his eyes. The voice echoed again:

[Welcome to the Space of Doom!]

Suddenly, Gojin found himself in a dark area with a shallow pool of water beneath him. Surprisingly, his legs didn’t get wet, even though the water covered his feet. It was strange—how could he know if he was wet or not? When you’re in water, you can’t really feel it until you step onto dry land.

Everything around him was engulfed in darkness. He looked around, confused but maintaining his calm demeanor. The system’s voice returned, but this time it was audible from outside rather than in his head. Was he in his own subconscious?

"Welcome to the Space of Doom once more. This is your subconscious—the true home of absolute power that has always been in your hands since birth."

The voice was female, sneaky and seductive, yet he couldn’t see the speaker. Yes, he was truly inside his mind.

"You’re here to pave your next big steps since you’ve ranked up and wisely declined the binding offer for a greater reward."

Gojin sighed, astonished by the sudden change. "So, what are these next big steps? My rewards and titles?"

"Host is now the Overlord of Doom and has full control over half of humanity’s fate. The choice to be a hero or a destroyer lies in your hands. Whatever decision you make, the system—no, the Livas—shall follow. Livas is the name of the seven pillars that created this link you call a system. At your first arrival, you caught the interest of the entire Livas and have been bestowed this absolute power with the Almighty’s permission. No more conversations shall be held; the Host has the wisdom to forge his path, and the Livas will act as watchers from the shadows."

"Okay... I understood that quite well for some reason. So, what are these rewards? Of no patience do I possess a little of... whoa, I just talked like you for a second there." Gojin chuckled, placing his hands behind his head and waiting for a response.

"First set of rewards: 1. 100,000 DM—DM, which was once called EXP (experience points), is now Doomed. 2. Book tab: Unlocked, allowing you to gain future knowledge, but all at a price. 3. Store: Unlocked, where many items can be purchased with DMs. 4. The last of the first set: all new rewards and techniques will be doubled by 100x. You have also gained a new title that bestows a unique capability: Father of the Honored Ones and King of the Ruins. This grants you a 2% resistance to any force greater than yourself."

Gojin’s jaw dropped at the magnitude of these rewards. "This is... amazing! With this strength, I shall reclaim something I desire, but that’s a secret for now." He felt a rush of excitement, his heart racing at the thought of the power he could wield.

"Last set of rewards: 1. Obtaining the Fourth Heavenly Eyes with a 100x doubling talent: The Devouring Heavenly Eyes. (This ability allows you to absorb the power and essence of what you see, enhancing your own abilities.) 2. You have obtained infinite techniques, doubling by 100x to achieve unlimited strength. 3. You have obtained infinite Ki and 46% of all energy and life force. 4. Vault is now unlocked: Store anything inside, including a dead body."

Gojin’s eyes widened. "Huh!? For me to receive this honor, there must be a rogue sacrifice behind it—either the fear of something or have a..."

"Extra Note: Run at your fullest. No soul possesses a power more ravaging than the final score— Overlord of Doom, fear the Slayer of cores, the great Hiroshi, for he might be the only one worthy of your defeat."

"Is he an exorcist or a soul reaper, why should I be afraid of him even when I’m the strongest?"

His question was left unanswered, and he planned to bring it up sooner or later.

Instantly, Gojin found himself back where he had been before. Confused by the last sentence, he realized he had never heard that name - it’s wasn’t among the ranking also.

"You should had at least told me which category this ’Hiroshi’ falls in." Gojin mused, rubbing his temples in disbelief. Suddenly, a white aura emerged, followed by black, red, and then green, swirling around him. He understood this was the ranking-up process; his soul’s potential was changing. Anyone who wasn’t a fool would recognize such a transformation to happen.

[Ding! Granting all that has been bestowed!]

The aura rose, lifting his hair and clothes as if they were flowing like a river including him into the air, causinga whirlpool of wind and cracks on the ground. Gojin felt a surge of energy coursing through him, a mix of exhilaration and apprehension. The blindfold he wore began to change; a line appeared on the left side, thickening. The Livas had literally evolved even the blindfold—one not of their making—into a stronger and more potent cover for his eyes.

Soon enough, his Runo, now multiplied again in strength, might not be able to contain the power of his gaze any longer.

I forgot my bell technique for ages! That was my stepping stone to supremacy at that point of time! - Gojin thought as he landed back on the ground, the aura gradually dissipating around him.

To use the Bell Technique, one must establish a link with others, allowing them to sense the caller’s location and how to reach it. Gojin had never utilized this technique before, preferring to focus on stronger ones, but now it came to mind, and he felt compelled to test it out. The bell is said to echo in the linked partner’s mind three times, granting them knowledge of the caller’s location. Quite useful, right?

Gojin realized he had spent more time here than he intended—over 15 minutes. A small insight about his newly evolved Ki Tapping Technique surfaced in his mind.

He stretched his hands forward and grasped the air, then began extending it apart. Black lightning crackled from his fingertips, and soon a portal materialized, resembling a broken mirror. However, it didn’t lead to the village; instead, it opened to a mountain about ten miles away.

"I feel like taking another one down, but nope, can’t waste nature," he muttered, flicking his hands. The view shifted, now displaying the hidden village—the garden behind the infirmary where Kenji and Sakura were still present.
