Lord Yan, The Little Ancestor Has Fallen Off The Horse Again!-Chapter 307: Feng Ye’s First Love
Chapter 307: Chapter 307: Feng Ye’s First Love
Seeing they weren’t leaving, Jiang Ying called out to them. She surfed the internet daily and was spun into various major social media platforms; there was hardly any gossip she didn’t know about.
"By the way, you guys remember Mo Lingwei, right? She’s returned from studying abroad."
She had dug up quite a few stories these days. Beijing was about to become restless.
"Mo Lingwei." Feng Ye’s grip on the reins tightened, his breath caught, and his tone rose by several notches.
Jiang Qi glanced at him. Mo Lingwei had always been the first love in his heart. He wondered how he planned to deal with it.
"Yeah, she came back this morning." Jiang Ying was somewhat surprised. Mo Lingwei got along quite well with them, and their relationships used to be quite complicated back then.
Jiang Qi signaled her not to talk anymore, but Jiang Ying didn’t see any issue. To her, Mo Lingwei always seemed too fake—a woman who liked her brother, and Feng Ye, who liked her.
She knew very well that Feng Ye liked her. If only she had simply rejected Feng Ye, it would have been fine, but she just had to keep him on the hook and use him.
The Young Master Feng in front of her was said to switch women as easily as changing clothes, but in reality, if they didn’t sound like Mo Lingwei, they had noses, eyes, and faces similar to hers; they were nothing but substitutes for Mo Lingwei.
He had never moved on.
Quite pathetic.
Jiang Qi looked at Feng Ye, who was standing stunned, and let out a sigh, then followed Jiang Ying.
"Brother Ye, are you alright?" Lin Xuanze called out to him with concern. Seeing him absentmindedly shake his head, he quickly followed along with them.
Jiang Ying hopped down from the horse with a smile, "Sister Yue, do you think I’m good at riding? I beat all three of them."
Yun Yue raised an elegant eyebrow, her eyes narrowed, hands in her pockets, "Pretty good."
"Hehe." Jiang Ying laughed a little sheepishly.
Xiao Chen glanced at her discreetly. Such praise was rare.
"What’s wrong with him?" Xiao Chen looked at Feng Ye, who was listlessly riding his horse back. It wasn’t like him to look this defeated just because he lost.
"Oh, him? He’s been like this ever since he heard Mo Lingwei is back," Jiang Ying said nonchalantly, grabbing a bottle of drink from a nearby table.
Xiao Chen looked over, his features chiseled, and his dark eyes deep and inscrutable.
The midday sun was scorching, so they didn’t continue horseback riding and went directly to the VIP rest area instead.
Feng Ye had reserved a meal early in the morning, so they could start eating as soon as they arrived.
Xiao Chen pulled out a chair for Yun Yue, and put some of her favorite dishes into her bowl.
"Brother, I heard the President of Jing University has been visiting the Xiao Family every day for the past few days. Do you know why?" Jiang Ying asked, biting her straw. She had visited her aunt the day before yesterday, almost unable to believe her own eyes.
Can you believe that the dignified President of Jing University was serving tea and smiling to please my aunt?
Xiao Chen kept his head low, maintaining his casual and languid demeanor.
Jiang Qi served her some more dishes, teasing, "Probably because of this person here."
Jiang Ying glanced at Yun Yue and pouted a ’Oh,’ realizing a top-scoring student indeed deserved the President’s daily visits to the Xiao Family.
Meanwhile at the Xiao Family, Ding Mingjiu was once again waiting upon her, serving tea and acting like a manservant as he carried fertilizer for her.
Jiang Qiong stood watering the flowers with a watering can while Ding Mingjiu stood behind her, holding a bucket dutifully.
"Mrs. Jiang, how do you keep yourself so well-preserved, just like these budding flowers?"
Jiang Qiong silently gave him a look. He sure had the nerve to say that.
Ding Mingjiu laughed awkwardly, wishing he could strangle his past self.
Had he known it would come to this, why bother in the first place!
Jiang Qiong put down the ladle and wiped her hands clean, then spoke leisurely, "Alright, coming to me every day, anyone who didn’t know better would think I’ve got some treasure here."
Ding Mingjiu muttered to himself, indeed there was a treasure here, then suddenly looked up at her, excitedly saying, "Then, then this means... Yun Yue has chosen Jing University."
Jiang Qiong nonchalantly waved her handkerchief, "I’ve heard that the Garden Department at Jing University has cultivated quite a few new varieties."
"I’ll have them sent to you later." Ding Mingjiu wasn’t worried about a few pots of flowers at this point; even moving the entire Garden Department’s collection would be worth it.
Not far away stood the Vice Chancellor of Jing University: "..."
**
Fourth District.
The film crew was still setting up the scene under the scorching sun; everyone seemed like they were in a steam bath.
"Props team, hurry up! And... what are you doing over there? You got the position wrong!" Zhang Shuguang directed them through a walkie-talkie.
After finishing her call, Ruan Yingtong had been in the VIP rest area memorizing her lines, and she was the only one in the entire crew who was actually comfortable.
"Director, the sun is so harsh, can we continue this afternoon? Plus, it’s almost time for lunch; we should take a break," complained Liu Ruijia, feeling hot even under the large fan held by her assistant.
The sun was so fierce that any tan would take ages to fade.
"If you want to rest, nobody’s stopping you. The rest area is over there; go ahead, just don’t get in the way of my work," retorted Zhang Shuguang, notoriously short-tempered, and didn’t care how big a star you were in his presence.
Liu Ruijia’s face turned sour, and she was too choked up with resentment to speak, "Why can Ruan Yingtong sit in the VIP rest area all morning?"
Zhang Shuguang cast her a glance, "She’s a VIP. If you’re capable, you can go there too."
Liu Ruijia: "..."
Just at that moment, Sun Hong came to visit the set, not only with boxed lunches but also cold drinks, walking over cheerfully and directly pushing Liu Ruijia behind her.
She glared fiercely at the person in front of her.
"Director Zhang, even with the tight schedule, we still have to eat, don’t we? Here are boxed lunches and cold drinks that Yingtong ordered for everyone. We can start working again after eating; it’s not too late."
The person behind her, carrying several large styrofoam boxes, walked over.
Zhang Shuguang’s expression softened, with a hint of a smile, "Yingtong is really thoughtful."
"Not at all," Sun Hong replied with a smile. "We still need Director Zhang to look after us. The child is patient and willing to learn. Please give her some extra guidance when she has difficulties."
Zhang Shuguang smiled back, "Of course."
Feeling utterly frustrated, Liu Ruijia went back to her seat. Her assistant handed her a cup of cold drink, "Sister Ruijia, would you like some?"
Liu Ruijia glared at her, "Are you trying to piss me off on purpose?"
The assistant trembled and lowered her head, "Sorry, sorry, I’ll take it away right now."
People nearby glanced over, some looking at the assistant with sympathy.
Liu Ruijia was more temperamental than her star status suggested. Compared to her, Ruan Yingtong’s assistants were much luckier.
After speaking with Zhang Shuguang, Sun Hong put on her sunglasses, her lips curved in a smile as she walked towards the VIP rest area.
Ruan Yingtong had just finished eating and was memorizing her lines; her memory was always good, and she usually got them down after going through them once.
"Sister Yingtong, is it really okay for us to be here? Won’t people talk behind our backs?" the assistant asked worriedly, looking toward Fourth District through the glass, where the heat waves were visible.
Ruan Yingtong, while memorizing her lines, smiled and replied, "We just need to do our own thing. Who cares if people gossip; it’s not like we can shut them up."
This rest area was hers; it didn’t matter whether she sat here or there, why shouldn’t she sit here? Besides, she had invited those actors before, and it wasn’t her fault if they didn’t come.
The assistant nodded, not quite grasping the meaning but saw Sun Hong come in and happily greeted her, "Sister Sun."
