Chapter 102 - Order Ready

"So you actually ordered some talent-enhancing pills? And some for me too?" Rose said with some surprise.

They never actually told her about this before today, which led to her rather concerned reaction.

"I am not sure I should receive something like that so easily. It's a bit too valuable..." Rose cautiously said.

Greed obviously tempted her, but she still restrained herself.

"Just take it. We are friends, after all." Myra gave a thumbs-up.

"And if you feel like it, just pay us back some time in the future." She winked.

"That's probably what she counts on... If she actually can see the future, that is."

Cyril, too, had a slight inkling as to why Myra forced Rose into their group at the beginning. Maybe she was going to do something important in the future?

He shook off the distracting thoughts and focused on the present.

Right now, Cyril needed Alvin's help to fulfill Morpho's wish.

While they traveled towards the clinic, they explained the situation as best they could to Rose.

When she discovered that Alvin was a talented healer whom the Tower had sought in the past, her curiosity was piqued, making her eager to meet him.

...

They didn't take too long in their previous search; the sun was still high in the sky, and they had plenty of time.

This was the first time Rose walked to the 'Happy Patient' clinic. She curiously looked at the dilapidated houses and people dressed in rags around her.

She herself was from a well-off family, so she hadn't seen much of how some people struggle before.

It seems the clinic had an influx of patients today.

There was a small crowd gathered in front of it. Though despite the amount of people, it wasn't chaotic.

People calmly stood in line, some talking to each other about random gossip, some silently staring at the sky.

"Do we really have to get in line here? How about we just ignore it and go first? Not like these people can stop us..."

Even ignoring the morality of such an action, I am sure Alvin wouldn't be happy if we did that.

Thankfully it looked like the line moved fast. People quickly went in and out.

True to the clinic's name, most of the people leaving had relieved smiles on their faces.

Cyril, Rose, and Myra all stood at the end of the line; they didn't mind waiting a bit.

Some people took note of this relatively well-dressed group, but they didn't do much other than stare and gossip.

...

Before even an hour passed, the three of them managed to enter the clinic.

Inside, Alvin sat by the desk, his head staring at a pile of documents.

"Name?" He mechanically asked.

"Cyril," Cyril calmly replied.

This caused Alvin to raise his head, staring at the three students with a bit of surprise.

He briefly glanced at Rose, this person he hadn't seen before, and opened his mouth.

"You must be here for your pill; it's done." Alvin nodded. "I wanted to let you know sooner, but I am a bit busy lately."

He added with a frown. "There is a new illness going around. It seems to only affect people with little-to-no mana..." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

With that, Alvin got up from his chair and walked over to a cabinet, rummaging inside for a bit.

After a few seconds he took out a bottle filled to the brim with round white pills.

"It works incredibly well. I must thank you for sharing the recipe with me; its value is beyond this small bottle," Alvin said with awe.

Myra said thank you and quickly grabbed the bottle, hiding it in Rose's bag.

"Could you also make something useful out of this? I'll pay." Cyril said and showed the herb he received during the exam.

Alvin looked at it for a second, quickly took it, and put it in the cabinet.

"Yeah, sure. Come some time later, I'll have it done," Alvin said in a hurry.

Rose wanted to ask some questions, but seeing all the people who needed help outside, she could only sigh and look forward to the next time.

Since Alvin was clearly busy, the group didn't keep him occupied and wanted to leave quickly.

Just as he was about to exit the office, Cyril thought of an idea and turned around.

"Alvin, if you were told to meet at the 'Eve of Freedom,' where would you say that place is?" He casually said.

When he heard this, Alvin froze for a second, then frowned, "I don't know what you are talking about. Now get out; I am busy."

...

"An illness that only affects people with low mana... How unusual," Rose said out loud once they were outside.

Judging by the state of the people who were standing in line, it wasn't anything too serious. They wore smiles and talked like nothing was wrong.

"We can visit some other day and ask about it in detail," said Cyril.

A new illness rapidly affecting a few areas is nothing too special in the city. Some viruses evolve incredibly quickly, and the city's high population density only accelerates their transmission.

Every time one of these appears, there are always rumors with it that it was created in a lab somewhere.

Cyril didn't really care. Though he could see that happening. Mages experimented with all sorts of things.

"Do you think Alvin actually knows something? His answer seemed a bit suspicious to me," Cyril said to everyone.

"Maybe. But there is nothing we can do about that. I would rather not sour our relationship with Alvin," quickly replied Myra.

Cyril could understand her. This healer possessed a rather useful ability to concoct medicinal pills. It wasn't worth it.

...

Having finished their business in this place, the group moved on. They planned to travel around the area a bit and see if they encountered anyone else.

But not before having a quick food break in the shopping district.

At the same time, Rose had an idea about the code. She proposed to go see the play itself.

Maybe they will be able to glean something out of it.

This secret message shouldn't be too hard to crack. Otherwise, how can normal people join their organization?

"It's Lapis we are talking about. I don't think their members have functional brains; we'll be able to decode it," Rhamn said with conviction.
