Married For Now-Chapter 121: COME CLEAN
Chapter 121: COME CLEAN
SOHEE WAS older than Kim Heedo, and he’d like to think that he was more mature than his husband.
And, honestly, he was very patient towards people he cared about.
That was why he wanted to extend the same grace to his husband.
However...
"Heedo-ya, I don’t want to act controlling, but this is too much," Sohee said. Fortunately, despite the negative emotions rising in his chest, he still managed to sound calm. But that was just a façade. He was actually seething inside. "It hasn’t been long since you’ve stopped obsessing over Lee Junsu. So, I can’t help but worry that you’re having a "relapse." If you think you’re starting to fall for him again, then please tell me. I won’t cling to you then."
"Hyung, what you’re worried about isn’t happening and it won’t happen. I have no romantic feelings for Lee Junsu anymore. If that was the case, then I would have come running to him with the porridge that he asked for."
"Then why did you reply to his message?"
"I replied to him without thinking, Hyung," Kim Heedo explained. Even the brat was trying to act as calmly as he could even though he looked nervous. "I didn’t see Lee Junsu’s message as him trying to catch my attention since Lee Junsu never cared about me after our break-up. Hyung knows how cold Lee Junsu to me back then, right? That’s why when I saw his message, I thought it was just a harmless question."
Sohee couldn’t argue with that because that made a lot of sense more than he’d like to admit.
Tsk.
Lee Junsu’s game is strong.
"But Hyung is right. I should haven’t replied to Lee Junsu since it wasn’t even an emergency. And I should have changed my number as soon as I said I would," Kim Heedo said, his voice full of remorse. He then got down on his knees and held Sohee’s hand while looking up at him with puppy dog eyes. "I’m sorry for being thoughtless, Hyung. And I’m sorry for making you anxious. I’ll do better."
Dammit.
That was a good apology in Sohee’s book.
After all, Kim Heedo knew exactly what he was apologizing for.
Moreover...
He didn’t invalidate my feelings by saying I was just being paranoid.
Instead of doing that, Kim Heedo promised to do better.
And that made Sohee feel guilty.
"Heedo-ya, are you not going to call me paranoid or something? I’m being upset here just because you replied to your ex-boyfriend. Am I not being narrow-minded? Heck, you can even accuse me of not trusting you."
"You have all the right to feel that way, Hyung. It’s my fault that you don’t have 100% faith in me. After all, just weeks ago, I was acting like Lee Junsu’s lap dog. You got kidnapped while I was taking care of him."
Ah, right.
That incident happened.
And there’s something I haven’t told Heedo yet about that incident.
"It’s not Hyung’s fault that you’re doubting me," Kim Heedo admitted while gently squeezing Sohee’s hand. "I promise to work harder to earn your full trust, Hyung. I won’t give you a reason to doubt my feelings for you. Even though I know action speaks louder than words, I still want to say this to assure you: I’m completely over Lee Junsu. It’s okay if you can’t believe me yet, Hyung. It’s my job to make you believe me."
Aww.
Sohee could tell that Kim Heedo was being sincere— he could see it in his husband’s eyes and hear it in his voice.
He just made an honest mistake because he didn’t care about Lee Junsu in that way.
Just like that, his anger melted away.
Well, he wasn’t really angry. Just a bit disappointed. But all the negative feelings that made him snap had already been washed away by Kim Heedo’s proper apology.
See?
This is why communication is the key to a healthy relationship.
That also meant Sohee should tell Kim Heedo the secret that he had been keeping from his husband all this time.
"I’m sorry for my dumb mistake, Hyung," Kim Heedo said nervously. The kid probably thought Sohee was still upset because he hadn’t said a word yet. "What can I do to make it up to you?"
"Show me Lee Junsu’s text."
Kim Heedo immediately took out his phone from his pocket, and then he offered his phone to Sohee with both hands after he unlocked it.
So polite.
Sohee then read the text messages between Kim Heedo and Lee Junsu.
<Lee Junsu: I’m sorry for suddenly contacting you, Heedo-ya. But I’m currently sick, so I’m craving for a warm and delicious meal. I just remembered that I liked the porridge that you’d bring me whenever I was sick. So, I was wondering if you could tell me which restaurant you got it from? I can’t remember.>
Haaah.
Sohee almost threw the phone out of frustration.
But Kim Heedo’s response made him feel better.
His husband was telling the truth when he said he only sent the location of the restaurant as a response to Lee Junsu.
Not even a ’hi.’
Heh.
However, Sohee got annoyed again because of Lee Junsu’s reply.
<Lee Junsu: Thank you, Heedo-ya. Here’s a coupon for your usual combo meal from your favorite fast-food chain as a thanks. You still like their double cheeseburger and potato wedges, right?>
"Wow," Sohee said sarcastically. "I didn’t even know that you eat at fast-food chains."
"Why wouldn’t I, Hyung?"
Right.
It’s me and my prejudice.
"Lee Junsu sent you a coupon for your favorite combo meal as a thanks," Sohee said, showing the text message to Kim Heedo. "Thanks to Lee Junsu, I know your snack now."
Kim Heedo flinched. "I’m not going to use the coupon, Hyung."
"Why not? Use the coupon and give me the combo meal."
"You want to eat the food that Lee Junsu sent?"
"Free food is free food," Sohee said through gritted teeth. He wanted to stay calm, but he couldn’t. "I’m going to eat it well and brag about it on social media. I have a feeling that Lee Junsu is stalking our socmed accounts, so I’ll let him see that I’m the one who accepted his coupon with a generous heart."
I know I’m being childish, but I can’t help it, okay?
"Hyung..."
"What?"
"Are you feeling jealous right now?"
This damn brat didn’t have to say it out loud.
"What if I am?"
Kim Heedo covered his mouth with his hand, covering half of his face because his face was small but his hand was big.
Anyway, Sohee could tell that his husband was smiling.
His eyes are smiling, after all.
"What are you doing, Kim Heedo?"
"My friends told me I look like a crazy bastard when I grin, so I’m hiding it from you. I don’t want to scare you, Hyung."
"Let me see your grinning face."
"If Hyung insists."
Kim Heedo then removed his hand from his face.
Oh, damn.
Why is this man so handsome?
Kim Heedo had a boyish grin on his face. But instead of making him look like a "crazy bastard," it actually made him look more youthful. Hence, making him look cute.
Even his visual is dominant.
"Don’t trust the friends who said you look like a crazy bastard when you grin— they’re just jealous of your majestic beauty."
Kim Heedo burst out laughing. "You just like my face a bit too much, Hyung."
"Damn right," Sohee said, patting the space next to him before placing the bouquet of marigold flowers on the bedside table. "Come here."
Kim Heedo immediately stood up and sat next to Sohee, still holding his hand.
His husband entwined their fingers this time.
Aww.
"Heedo-ya, I’m not just being a paranoid bitch here," Sohee said, calmly this time. "I have a legit reason for feeling this way."
"I know, Hyung."
"No, you don’t. It’s not you, Heedo-ya. I feel a bit threatened because I think Lee Junsu is stalking me. Well, at least, he tried to."
Kim Heedo knitted his eyebrows. "What do you mean by that, Hyung?"
"Do you remember when Lee Junsu and I exchanged phones?"
"Yes. That was when you broke his phone, correct?"
Sohee nodded. "I had a bad feeling after Lee Junsu returned my phone, and I also noticed that it was functioning worse than it usually did. So, I asked an old co-worker to check my phone for me. And that was how I found that my phone was hacked."
Kim Heedo looked confused at first, and when the realization hit him, he suddenly looked horrified. "Hyung, are you saying that you found out that your phone was cloned. And you suspect Lee Junsu because he was the last person who used your phone. Yet you didn’t tell me? You’ve been keeping that vital information to yourself all this time?"
Aigoo.
Sohee couldn’t help but flinch at Kim Heedo’s scolding tone.
I thought I did the right thing, but now I feel like a clown.
"Hyung, did you hide it from me because you thought I wouldn’t believe you?"
Oh.
Sohee felt a pang in his chest when he saw the pain and guilt in Kim Heedo’s face.
He’s obviously blaming himself again for my lack of trust in him.
"Did you think I would take Lee Junsu’s side?"
Aww, he’s hurt.
"Hyung, I understand why you’d think that way. And I won’t blame you for having those thoughts," Kim Heedo said. He sounded calm, but Sohee could detect the panic in his voice. "But please don’t keep things like this from me. Even though you think I won’t believe you, I’d still like you to tell me everything. Knowing Hyung, I know you wouldn’t lie about something like that. You love drama, but you don’t start one."
Sohee pouted a little. "Even if I talk bad about Lee Junsu?"
"Hyung wouldn’t talk about other people badly for no reason, so yes, I’ll listen to you. In fact, I’ll believe anything Hyung says— with or without evidence."
"You think of me that highly?"
"Yes, and because I like Hyung this much."
"Huh?"
"Hmm?"
Sohee’s face turned red.
This is the first time Kim Heedo clearly said that he likes me...
And the best part?
Kim Heedo didn’t seem to notice.
Sohee liked how natural the confession was— no grand gesture, but full of warmth and sincerity.
I like how he said it as if it’s the most natural thing in the world to say.
"Hyung, your face is red," Kim Heedo said worriedly, cupping Sohee’s face between his hands. "Are you feeling sick?"
"Yes," Sohee said, and then he said cheesiest thing ever: "I think I’m lovesick."
