Chapter 139: A CIVILIAN(?)

A few days before the ’Burning Yacht Incident...

"HYUNG, you were right."

To be honest, Sohee wasn’t surprised.

He almost said "I told you so" to his husband, but Kim Heedo looked so serious that he just kept his mouth shut.

Both of us don’t have classes today, so we’re supposed to visit Hong Sera in the hospital.

Hong Sera was still in a coma, but that was no reason not to visit.

Unfortunately, they got delayed when Kim Heedo finally received Shin Kang’s comprehensive report.

Hence, they got stuck in their apartment.

Again.

"How did you confirm that Jin Taewook, aka Sanha, is Jin Taejoon’s younger brother?"

"Remember Han Yechan, Hyung?"

"Yep. The one who "saved" me and Baby Gunwoo," Sohee said while nodding. "You said you were going to keep him under surveillance."

"I did, and that was how we caught him," Kim Heedo said, clenching his jaw tight. "We used our, uh, resources to hack Han Yechan’s phone. That was when Ahjussi’s team found out that Han Yechan was in consistent communication with Sanha."

"Sanha used his personal phone when communicating with Han Yechan?"

"He probably didn’t think that someone on my level would bother checking his subordinate’s phone data."

Right.

"In fact, if Hyung didn’t say that you wanted to know if Jin Taewook was really Jin Taejoon’s "civilian" younger brother, then we wouldn’t have hacked his phone," Kim Heedo said. "But since it’s an emergency, we resorted to, uhm, abusing my chaebol status."

That sounded something straight out of a chaebol drama.

Oh, well.

Reality is stranger than fiction anyway.

"What do you want to do now, Hyung?"

"Instead of confronting Sanha Hyung—"

Kim Heedo glared at Sohee.

Oops, slip of the tongue.

"Sanha-ssi," Sohee corrected himself when he remembered Kim Heedo hated hearing him call Sanha ’hyung.’ "I’d like to have a talk with Shaman Crystal first. Can we invite her when we visit Shaman Jung this weekend?"

"If we find her before then, sure."

"Is she missing?"

"Shaman Crystal has gone into hiding after Hong Sera got into an accident," Kim Heedo explained. "She probably knew the Hongs would hunt her down, so she hid. Even if it’s the Daesung Group, it’s still hard for them to locate a shaman who’s determined to stay hidden."

Right.

Those shamans have legit divine powers.

"Why do you want to meet Shaman Crystal, Hyung?"

"You said Lee Junsu is one of Shaman Crystal’s VIP clients, right?"

"Yes, Hyung."

"I suspect Lee Junsu as the person trying to steal my luck by stealing you from me, but we don’t know why Lee Junsu pushed you away if he still wanted you," Sohee said. "I feel like Shaman Crystal knows the answer. Plus, I remember Han Yechan saying that their organization has someone with the ’Celestial Eyes.’"

"Oh, that’s Shaman Crystal’s expertise, as far as I know."

"We need to know if Lee Junsu and Sanha-ssi are working together, so I hope we find her soon."

Kim Heedo nodded, and he was about to say something when his phone rang. "It’s Seojun Hyung."

It was Hong Sera’s oldest brother.

"Go and take the call, Heedo-ya."

"Yes, Hyung."

Sohee thought Kim Heedo would step out on the balcony to answer the call, but no.

His husband remained sitting next to him while playing with his hand as he took Hong Seojun’s call.

"Yes, Hyung?"

Sohee watched as Kim Heedo’s face suddenly darkened while listening on the other end of the line.

But he waited until his husband was done talking on the phone before he asked.

"What’s wrong, Heedo-ya?"

"The driver that caused Hong Sera’s accident had already opened his mouth," Kim Heedo said, clenching his jaw tight. "Apparently, the one who ordered the attack was Lee Junsu."

That was shocking.

However...

"Why would Lee Junsu attack Hong Sera?"

"The driver kept saying he didn’t know the reason— that he only did as he was told. But I have a hunch."

"What is it?"

"It’s probably to stop Hong Sera from investigating Lee Junsu."

"Hong Sera is investigating Lee Junsu... wait. Did you ask her to do that?"

"I mentioned to her that you didn’t want me investigating Lee Junsu, so Hong Sera volunteered to do that," Kim Heedo said, his voice full of remorse. "I shouldn’t have dragged her into this. No— I should have listened to Hyung when you told me to leave Lee Junsu alone."

"Heedo-ya, none of this was your fault," Sohee said firmly, holding his husband’s hand. "I’m sure Hong Sera wouldn’t want you blaming yourself either."

"Thank you for saying that, Hyung."

"I’m not just saying this to console you— I really mean it."

"Hyung..."

"Let’s go and visit Hong Sera," Sohee said, standing up while pulling up Kim Heedo with him. "I’m sure you’d want to talk to her family in person."

Kim Heedo smiled faintly. "Hyung won’t even let me be depressed for a second, huh?"

"THE ILSUNG Group, the SG Group, and now the Daesung Group. What made you think that we could ruffle the feathers of those chaebol families and get away with it unscathed?"

Sanha wanted to cover his ears at Han Yechan’s nagging, but he couldn’t.

After all, his friend was only spitting facts.

"I got caught, you got caught, Jung Byeol got caught, and Lee Junsu got caught," Han Yechan continued yapping. "Those damned chaebols and their abuse of power..."

"It’s not like we’re any better than them," Sanha said, leaning against the backrest of the sofa while crossing his arms over his chest. "We use force and threats to get what we want."

"Fair point."

"Right?"

Han Yechan threw a pillow at Sanha. ""Right," my ass!"

"Why are you so angry, dude? We both know from the start that we’d get caught. How could we keep our traces clean when three angry chaebols are after our throats?"

"Then you shouldn’t have helped that twink! You threw away your civilian life the moment you returned to this world just to save that kid’s sorry ass!"

"Aigoo, you sound like an old man."

"We’re the same age!"

Sanha just smiled while shaking his head.

But he wasn’t taking light of the situation.

After all, they were already caught by three scary chaebols.

How did they know?

Simple.

We found out those chaebols had done a thorough investigation of us. The fact that they suspect us means they already have a clue about what we’re up to. It’s already game over. As expected, those chaebols move fast.

"What’s the plan now, you bastard?" Han Yechan asked, sighing as if he was frustrated. "Even if you’re a famous celebrity, those damned chaebols could still make you disappear silently. I don’t think your father could protect you this time. They left you alone before because your father insisted that you were a civilian. But you just forfeited your civilian life, stupid."

"I guess we can only escape those chaebols by dying~"

"Excuse me, I don’t want to die yet."

"Not you. I’m talking about me and Lee Junsu."

"A double suicide? Are you crazy?!" Han Yechan, of course, overreacted again. "If I let you die, your father will kill me!"

"Aigoo. Where has your creativity gone, Yechan-ah? We watched all those mafia movies a lot when we were kids, so you should have understood me the first time I said it."

Han Yechan knitted his eyebrows, and then his eyes widened a bit. "Fake death?"

"Well, maybe not exactly faking death since it will be hard to pull off. After all, Lee Junsu loves being an idol. So, I still want him to make a comeback after sorting out this mess," Sanha said, crossing his legs. "It’s enough if people think both of us are on the brink of death. If the entire country’s attention is on us, even those chaebols couldn’t touch us easily."

"I beg to differ. If you’re going to pretend to be on the brink of death, won’t that only make it easier for those chaebols to kill you off?"

"Not when the entire country is wishing for my and Lee Junsu’s recovery. The reporters will surely camp in the hospital, and the stubborn ones will do everything just to get a glimpse of me and Lee Junsu on our "deathbed." That will make it hard for those chaebols’ subordinates to approach us. In the first place, I don’t think they’d kill us right away. They would probably try to abduct us for interrogation, though."

"It sounds like you want them to abduct you."

"SG Group’s heir is scary, so I’m going to avoid Song Sihyuk as if my life depended on it. The Daesung Group would probably focus on Lee Junsu. That’s why..." Sanha pointed a finger at Han Yechan. "Protect Lee Junsu with your life, Han Yechan."

"Yah."

"I’ll deal with Ilsung Group’s grandson. In fact, I want a confrontation with Kim Heedo."

"You’re crazy. That kid can and will kill you if he has a chance to do so."

"Whatever. Just prepare for the "script" I’m preparing."

Han Yechan let out a frustrated sigh. "Fine. Let’s hear it."

"Lee Junsu and I will film a date scene in a yacht for our reality show," Sanha said, his brain already making grand plans for his "script." "Assign our best subordinates to mess with the yacht and set it on fire."

***

AND, NOW, we’re here.

Sanha smiled apologetically when he saw fear cross Lee Junsu’s eyes when a huge part of the yacht was set on fire.

It was followed by the loud screams of the people around them.

"Let’s go, Sanha Hyung," Lee Junsu said in a panic, grabbing Sanha’s arm as if he had just forgotten that he had suspected Sanha of being strange a moment ago. "The fire is getting bigger."

Aww, it was cute to see Lee Junsu panicking.

After all, this kid is often calm and composed.

But the best part?

Even though Lee Junsu was in a panic, he didn’t forget to take care of Sanha.

Junsu-ya might like me more than he likes to admit.

Sanha chuckled at his own delusions, and then he grabbed Lee Junsu by the waist and draped him over his shoulder.

"Hyung, I can walk on my own!"

"And that’s what I don’t want you to do, Junsu-ya."

"What do you mean by— ahhh!"

Lee Junsu yelled at the top of his lungs when Sanha threw him into the sea.

Yep, that he did.

Sanha then looked down and watched Lee Junsu struggle while trying to keep himself afloat. "Ah, you can’t swim," he said, smiling as he got ready to jump. "Don’t worry, Junsu-ya— we’ll "die" together."
