Chapter 23: A LIFE-CHANGING DECISION

KIM HEEDO felt guilty after watching the video where Park Sohee broke up with his then-boyfriend.

And now he felt even worse since his friends also saw it.

I knew we shouldn’t have watched this.

Now Heedo was no different from Park Sohee’s ex-boyfriend who embarrassed Park Sohee in front of his friends.

Sohee Hyung really went through a lot...

"I didn’t see or hear anything," Kwon Gaon said indifferently. "Heedo-ya, don’t mention this to Park Sohee-ssi. He might feel uncomfortable."

"I’m not that tacky, Gaon-ah," Heedo said, and then he looked at Yang Jaewon and Hong Sera sternly. "Did you hear that?"

"Hey, I easily forget things that have no connection to me," Yang Jaewon said, and then he turned to Hong Sera. "This time, you can’t share this with your boyfriend, okay?"

"I won’t make the same mistake," Hong Sera said, pouting. "I’m already reflecting, okay?"

Well, in the first place, Hong Sera wasn’t the one who snitched on Lee Junsu.

But it looks like she has no intention of throwing Jin Minki under the bus for the sake of her boyfriend.

How could a chaebol heiress be a pushover?

Not like Heedo had room to talk.

"What do you think of my peace offering, Heedo-ya?" Hong Sera asked, her face hopeful. "Please say you’re not upset with me anymore."

"Spill it, Hong Sera," Heedo said, crossing his arms over his chest. "It’s too convenient if you just happened to hear the owner of this phone talking about Sohee Hyung. Of course, I know that something like that is possible."

After all, I also heard people talking shit about Sohee Hyung during the welcome party for the freshmen.

Even so, it was too convenient that Hong Sera experienced the same thing.

Moreover, this wasn’t the first time that something like this happened.

"You used your family’s intelligence unit to track down who posted Sohee Hyung’s story in the community forum, didn’t you?" Heedo confronted his friend who liked solving things the "chaebol way." "You probably hunted down the poster on purpose, and that was how you heard them talking about Sohee Hyung."

Hong Sera shamelessly used her puppy dog eyes to appear innocent. "What’s wrong with the method I used? My family created a team of professionals to monitor our university’s community forum, so I just asked them for a small favor."

Right.

A year ago, before Hong Sera was exposed as the future heiress of the Daesung Group, her reputation was ruined because of a nasty post that spread like wildfire.

Of course, the Hong Family didn’t sit still.

To avoid the same thing from happening, the Daesung Group created a team to monitor the university’s community forum. All posts related to Hong Sera would be taken down immediately.

"Don’t be too harsh on Sera," Yang Jaewon scolded Heed while patting his back. "She did a good job."

Hong Sera nodded eagerly. "Right?"

"Did you find the culprit?" Kwon Gaon asked. "Is it the owner of the phone?"

"No, that sunbae wasn’t the one who posted that stupid article. But he’s close to the culprit," Hong Sera said, pointing at the phone that was still in Heedo’s hand. "Check the gallery, Heedo-ya. I took a screenshot of their chat room since I knew they would try to erase their conversation history after I "borrowed" that sunbae’s phone."

"I’m not sure if I should," Heedo said awkwardly. "Sohee Hyung would be so embarrassed if he found out I know this much about his past."

"I know, and I get where you’re coming from," Hong Sera said, but her voice remained insistent. "But you should still check it, Heedo-ya. That sunbae would have posted those pictures of Park Sohee Oppa had I not caught them."

Pictures?

Heedo caved in and checked the phone’s gallery.

Those fuckers...!

The pictures that Hong Sera mentioned were pictures of Park Sohee in bad condition.

It looks like Hyung was beaten up...

Heedo understood the context when he read the conversation below the pictures.

<xxx: according to jin-ie, he saw park sohee getting beaten up by loan sharks. lololol he tried to take a vid, but it was too dark. so he just took photos after helping that poor bastard>

<xxx: why would he help park sohee though???>

<xxx: to take pictures, what else? you dumbdumb>

<xxx: should we post these photos anonymously as proof that park sohee is really being chased by loan sharks?>

<xxx: we should! Jin-ie wants that poor bastard expelled since he’s a soreye to Jin-ie>

<xxx: that poor bastard is really unlucky to catch jin-ie’s ire, huh>

Haaah.

Heedo clenched his teeth, gripping the phone in his hand as if he wanted to break it. "Sera-ya, have you found out who this ’Jin-ie’ is? He seems to be the culprit."

"Yes, but my subordinates are still gathering evidence to prove that he’s the one who posted the libelous article about Park Sohee Oppa," Hong Sera said. "Would you like me to send the documents to you?"

Heedo hesitated for a moment, until Yang Jaewon opened his mouth.

"Yah, I think you really have to be involved now, Heedo-ya," Yang Jaewon said, showing his phone to them. The newly posted article on the university’s community board was open in a tab. "This is Shin Kang Ahjussi, right?"

Those photos were photos of Park Sohee and Shin Kang.

It seemed like the pictures were taken when Shin Kang delivered some items to Park Sohee, but it could be easily misinterpreted.

And that was exactly what happened in the comment section.

I’m glad that Mr. Shin’s photos are blurred, but he’s being mistaken as Sohee Hyung’s "sugar daddy."

Unbelievable.

"Are we really in college?" Heedo asked sarcastically. "Why are these people acting worse than middle schoolers?"

"They probably think Park Sohee is an easy target because he’s poor," Yang Jaewon said, shrugging. "You know how much of a classist and elitist most of the students here are. They did the same to our Sera before they found out that she’s the heiress of Daesung Group."

And the students who bullied Hong Sera back then were expelled.

"Heedo-ya, you have to make a decision quickly," Kwon Gaon said, his eyes glued to the phone. And then he showed a certain comment under the now-viral post. "Look. The uploader just posted Mr. Shin’s uncensored picture."

Those fuckers really want to die.

"Don’t kill them," Hong Sera scolded Heedo when she noticed the murderous look on Heedo’s face. "Let’s just sue them all!"

A chaebol suing his classmates for "mere" gossip would only get them a backlash. fгeewebnovёl.com

But it’s a good threat.

"Alright," Heedo said, clenching his hands tight. "I’m going to Sohee Hyung."

BEFORE HEEDO headed to Park Sohee’s lecture hall, he made a phone call first.

Fortunately, this time, Lee Junsu didn’t ignore his call.

<"I only have five minutes to spark, Kim Heedo.">

"Then I’ll go straight to the point," Heedo said, leaning against the wall. He didn’t want to admit this, but he was both thrilled and nervous. Thrilled because this was the first time he heard Lee Junsu’s voice in a while. Nervous because Lee Junsu didn’t sound as enthusiastic as he did even though they hadn’t talked for quite some time. "I’m in a situation where I need to reveal that I’m already married."

There was a pause for a moment.

Heedo got his hopes high— expecting that hearing that would force Lee Junsu to admit that he wanted to get back with him.

That he’s only dating that Sanha guy to get even with me.

However, Lee Junsu’s voice was indifferent when he spoke using harsh words.

<"And what does it have to do with me, Kim Heedo? Whether you reveal your marriage or keep it hidden, I don’t care. I won’t get back with you.">

Heedo thought he would get hurt as much as he did in the past.

But it was as if his heart had already gone cold because of how many times Lee Junsu had broken it already.

Hence, he just felt numb.

"Lee Junsu, do you really not love me anymore?"

<"I love you, but not as much as I love my career.">

"Then why are you dating that guy?"

<"Because Sanha Hyung is safe. We both have the same career, so he understands the things you would never understand about my life choices. And his family actually likes me.">

Okay, the last bit hurt.

<"Your family will never accept me since I’m not an Omega— and I’m not the one destined to break your curse or whatever.">

Haaah.

"You’re being unfair, Lee Junsu," Heedo said, clutching his chest tight because his heart was starting to ache again. "You know that’s not something I can control."

<"Your five minutes is over, Kim Heedo. Goodbye. Have a blessed married life.">

And Lee Junsu ended the call just like that.

Heedo could only sigh and shake his head.

Lee Junsu doesn’t care about me anymore, so might as well just save Sohee Hyung by revealing our marriage to the public.
