Chapter 112 - 112: Cultivation Under the Stars

It was getting dark. Yang Kai sat upright on the wet ground with a serious look, his expression fierce and focused as he trained his cultivation under the vast, starry sky. Blue veins bulged on his face and neck, quivering like little snakes as he pushed his Yuan Qi to its limits. The air around him buzzed faintly with energy, a testament to his relentless pursuit of next Stage.

Di Yalan stood beside Mu Yu Die, her eyes sharp and watchful. Frowning, she kept a close eye on Yang Kai, ready to intervene if he made any suspicious moves. Mu Yu Die, however, seemed indifferent. She stared at him for a moment, her gaze settling on his determined face, then sat down gently, crossing her legs. Placing her ancient zither on her lap, she began to play. The soft, melodic notes drifted through the air, and Yang Kai's mind felt refreshed, his training accelerating as the music calmed his spirit.

Holding his breath and focusing his mind, Yang Kai operated his Yuan Qi peacefully. One hour later, a warm flow gushed out from his meridians, spreading through his body. His muscles trembled as the strange power was absorbed into his bones and flesh before it could mix with the Yuan Qi in his abdomen. Within moments, the warm stream pervaded his blood, flesh, and bones, leaving him astonished by the sensation.

"Bang!"

A heavy strike echoed in his mind, and in the next moment, he broke through to the Qi Transformation 7th Stage. The day's tension from traveling had unexpectedly propelled his cultivation forward. Relief and happiness washed over him as he savored the quiet joy of his breakthrough. Mu Yu Die, watching from the side, was taken by surprise. She murmured to herself, "Oh."

Looking up at the sparkling stars, Yang Kai felt every cell in his body trembling. His muscles, veins, and bones expanded and contracted in a rhythmic dance. Without using his Yuan Qi, he closed his eyes and immersed himself in the fantastic shift occurring within—his muscles quivering, cells destructing and reconstructing, strength slowly building. Sensing it carefully, he soon felt the Immortality in his body begin to work, repairing and strengthening his torn muscles in an incredible way. Even without operating his Yuan Qi, he could clearly sense the changes in his muscle fibers, his body transforming under the starlight.

In the grass nearby, Mu Yu Die gazed at him secretly, biting a straw in her mouth. Her eyes flickered with curiosity as she watched the sweat bead on his brow. Di Yalan walked up and sat beside her, brushing the dirt off her hands. "You finished your task today?" Mu Yu Die chuckled softly,

"Yeah," Di Yalan said, her voice low. "More and more demon beasts are appearing these days. We have to be careful. We've met five groups in the past three days. They roam especially at night."

They both sat together in silence, their eyes fixed on Yang Kai as he trained. The night was still.

"That guy is really something," Di Yalan murmured, her tone laced with admiration.

"This guy... has so many secrets..." Mu Yu Die thought for a while and murmured, "I have never seen anyone greedier than him! He almost ate up all our food in the past three days. I'm now worried about rations. He's such a useless guy!"

Di Yalan laughed, her voice bright and unrestrained. "But he talks in a funny way! Any of his casual remarks could amuse us for hours. And he has so many novel ideas I've never heard of. He says kings must be voted in by citizens, and merchants dominate a country. By the way, he even composes sarcastic poems. I'm really confused—how could this 14-year-old boy be filled with so many odd things?"

Mu Yu Die ground her teeth, her hand slicing through the air as if wielding an invisible blade. "And it's this 14-year-old guy who looks at us like he wants to eat us alive when he casts his eyes our way. I've never seen such possessive eyes. Bastard! Too bad!"

"Ha, what's the big deal if he looks at us?" Di Yalan grinned, leaning back on her hands. "We don't lose anything. That bastard's bold—I like it!"

"You're trying to seduce him?" Mu Yu Die smirked, her eyes glinting with mischief. "He's still a kid! Don't tempt him!"

"Have you seen any kid who gives that kind of look?" Di Yalan lowered her voice, a conspiratorial edge to her words. "I'm guessing he's older than he seems. Maybe he's mastered some secret skill to stay young! Or maybe it's someone who's taken over his body."

"Could be," Mu Yu Die pondered, then nodded slowly. "Seems we have to be careful."

The conversation faded as they watched Yang Kai's silhouette against the starlight, his body trembling faintly as his Yuan Qi surged.

The next morning, before the sun rose, a heavy fog blanketed the land.

Under an ancient tree, Yang Kai called out softly, "Die, come down. It's time to set off."

Still half-asleep, Mu Yu Die murmured, "I want to sleep more," but then her eyes snapped open, wide with astonishment. A flush crept across her cheeks as fragments of a dream lingered—an outrageous vision of Yang Kai, bold and shameless, whispering scandalous promises under a starlit sky, his hands far too close for propriety. She glared at him and muttered, "Pervert!"

Yang Kai frowned, tilting his head. "Miss Mu, which part of me looks like a pervert?"

"Your whole body!" Mu Yu Die chuckled, her embarrassment melting into a joyful mood as she shook off the dream's lingering heat.

Her laughter was like a spring breeze, outshining the misty beauty of the Dark Forest. Yang Kai narrowed his eyes, letting his burning gaze roam over her face with audacious intent. "Miss Mu, if I were a pervert, I'd put my hands on you first. So be careful tonight—I might not be able to control myself. You should scream loudly then. I love women's wild screams so much!"

"How dare you!" Di Yalan sniffed, crossing her arms with a mock scowl.

"Oh, sorry, I forgot there's another pretty woman here," Yang Kai said, feigning realization. He patted his head in mock regret. "Maybe you're angry because I ignored you. Trust me, I'll go for you too—don't be jealous now."

"Haha! Hahaha!" Mu Yu Die clutched her stomach and burst into laughter, nearly tumbling from the tree. She pointed at Yang Kai, giggling uncontrollably. "You funny guy! Why are you so hilarious? Haha..."

Di Yalan stood dumbstruck for a moment, then chuckled too, shaking her head. When it came to Yang Kai, resistance was futile.
