Master of Monster Synthesis-Chapter 82: His Second Uncle Wants to Kill Me
Chapter 82: Chapter 82: His Second Uncle Wants to Kill Me
The barrier was shattered by Huge Strength before the three could react.
"Awoooo..."
Wails of wolves erupted incongruously, causing the trio’s faces to change drastically.
"Sha Po Wolf Group!"
"How could it be? Did the Sha Po Wolves already have their eyes on us?"
"Can you stop asking me? How many times do I need to say it? I don’t know!"
"Stop arguing, activate your battle armors and escape from the wolves quickly."
Zhou He said as he was the first to activate his battle armor. Energy sprayed from his feet as he shot skyward.
"Boom..."
Suddenly, the brilliance of the energy jet stood out conspicuously in the pitch-black night sky.
The next second, a giant eagle circling high above spotted Zhou He and immediately flapped its wings, diving toward him.
"Scree!"
The screech of the eagle, combined with the gust of wind, brought a palpable sense of danger to Zhou He’s heart, forcing him to urgently manipulate the battle armor to descend back to the ground.
"No way, the energy glow is too dazzling; it will attract flying monsters in the high sky. If the battle armor gets damaged, we’ll be as good as dead."
Zhou He said with a pale face.
Du Liang pointed toward the Sha Po Wolf Group approaching slowly, his voice trembling, "But I feel for all that, it’s still better than facing the Sha Po Wolf Group, right?"
As he finished speaking, a dense swarm of Sha Po Wolves suddenly lunged at the trio.
The three were shocked and quickly stood back-to-back, their battle armors firing energy bullets in quick succession, repelling the wolves charging at them.
"Thud thud thud..."
The energy bullets landed among the Sha Po Wolf Group, sending splashes of crimson blood flying.
Yet such minor casualties mattered little to the determined wolves. They continued to attack, unflinching and fearless.
Above, the giant eagle hovered in circles, seemingly waiting for the right moment.
The situation was dire, and sweat poured down the trio’s faces.
"This won’t do. The battle armor’s energy won’t last long, and our Star Power won’t sustain us either. We need a plan."
"What kind of plan? Why don’t we all fly into the air together? There’s only one giant eagle, so the rest depends on luck."
"Alright, you go first."
"No, you go first..."
"You go, you go first..."
"Damn it, didn’t we agree to go together?"
"Fine, then let’s go together."
"Thud thud thud..."
Amid a rain of bullets, the trio still didn’t follow through with the plan to ascend.
They all knew whoever went first would become the eagle’s target.
If they all went up together, none of them could guarantee the others wouldn’t betray them.
Thus, they hesitated.
Soon, the energy of their battle armors was depleted, and they began to rely on their Star Power to maintain energy consumption.
"Why don’t we just go together now?"
"Alright."
"Let’s fly."
"Fly then!"
"Alright, fly then!"
"Fly, fly, fly..."
"Fly your damn head! None of you are even remotely reliable."
The trio fell into another stalemate.
Suddenly, a larger Sha Po Wolf pushed through the bullet rain and leap-attacked toward the trio.
"Not good..."
Panic-stricken, the three scattered in opposite directions.
With their formation disrupted, they could no longer hold their ground and descended into chaotic combat.
"Roar!"
Zhou He’s alloy long sword popped out from his wrist. Fighting while retreating, he began looking for an opening in the wolf pack.
"Awoo!!"
A Sha Po Wolf, fearless even facing death, lunged at him. Zhou He rolled clumsily to dodge the attack.
The next moment, several other wolves charged at him, forcing him to deal with an onslaught.
While evading the wolves, he failed to notice that the Space Wristwatch on his wrist had vanished without a trace.
The other two were besieged similarly; caught in the life-and-death struggle, there was no time for attention to trivialities.
With their Star Power on the brink of depletion, they finally resolved to activate their flight mode and take their chances.
Suddenly, a peculiar wolf howl echoed from afar. The battle-crazed Sha Po Wolves paused mid-action, swiftly bit into the corpses of fallen wolves, and retreated at breakneck speed, disappearing from sight.
Exhausted, the trio collapsed to the ground, blood-soaked, drenched in sweat, gasping heavily.
"Phew... What just happened? Why did they retreat?"
"I told you to stop asking me already. How many times has it been? How many reminders do you need?"
"Uh..."
With the wolf threat gone, the high-altitude giant eagle now began targeting the trio.
"Scree!!" The eagle prepared to dive.
"Not good, just escaped the wolves only to face this eagle now..." Zhou He exclaimed.
Right as he finished his sentence, a loud screech echoed from the distant sky, startling the giant eagle enough to flee.
With the eagle gone, the trio couldn’t relax, unsure what kind of monster had frightened it.
Driven by pure survival instinct, they staggered on their drained physical reserves and made a desperate escape.
Moments later, a transformed Qin Shou as Big Big Wolf arrived at the battlefield.
Rein Jia’er revealed himself and handed three Space Wristwatches to Qin Shou.
In the chaos of the battle, Rein Jia’er’s small frame easily made quick work of removing their Space Wristwatches without alerting them to the theft.
"Not bad, not bad. Another source of income. Hopefully, next time, I’ll run into those three nice guys again."
Qin Shou chuckled slyly and promptly threw the Space Wristwatches into the System Space.
Regular Space Wristwatches can’t be stacked, but System Space makes it a breeze.
...
The next day, at Stone Mountain where the Sha Po Wolves roam.
Qin Shou emerged from the Wolf King Cave Entrance, rubbing his bulging belly with satisfaction.
"Burp... Bit too full."
He wiped the milk stains off the corner of his mouth, casually picked a giant stone, and lay atop it, snoring away.
Once rested, he had plans to head into the Winged Dragon territory.
Indeed, his plan for the next few days involved camping there, so he could stay ready for any missions.
Not only would it boost efficiency, but also allow him to swindle... cough cough, enjoy free energy drinks.
...
Three days later.
Inside a stone cave, Qin Shou erected a barrier and opened a communication video.
"Alright, what’s the next destination?"
Returning to his true form, Qin Shou asked.
"Lao Qin, there’s a big job on the horizon!" Long Xia said excitedly.
Qin Shou raised an eyebrow, "Big job? How big?"
Long Xia held up three fingers. "Three Earth Core Energy Crystals. Rescue a guy named Wu Xin in Revival Valley."
Qin Shou stroked his chin. "Dangerous Nine Stars monster there?"
"Nope."
"Surrounded by Horror-Level Monsters?"
"Nope."
"Then isn’t the payment way too high?"
Long Xia grinned. "Of course I know there’s something fishy, that’s why I said it’s a big job."
Hearing this, Qin Shou’s eyes sparkled.
"Somebody trying to screw us over?"
Long Xia shook his head, "Not us, just you, not us."
"Explain the situation," Qin Shou inquired with interest.
Long Xia chuckled. "After the first mission mishap, I’ve been scrutinizing every client’s background and carefully screening tasks.
This time, after spending some money for intel, I discovered this mission stems from a guy named Wang Bao."
"Wang Bao? Sounds awfully familiar," Qin Shou gave an odd look.
"Heh, you got it. Wang Bao is the second uncle of Wang Zha and Wang Wu. He purposefully wants to lure you to Revival Valley, likely for the Three Schools Trial quotas." Long Xia explained.
Qin Shou’s eyes narrowed slightly. "To help Wang Zha reclaim the quota, there’s only one way: make me disappear for a while, or... forever."
"Exactly. Which is why we can preemptively ambush the Revival Valley and catch them off guard. Plus, snag their Space Wristwatches for a nice payday."
Long Xia laughed with excitement.
Qin Shou’s cheek twitched. This kid turning out this way... surely isn’t my fault...
