Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Picking Up a Sand Whale

"Ding! Slayed the Golden Eagle, obtained Golden Eagle Gene..."

"Sluuurp..."

Qin Shou swallowed his first mouthful of the fresh and delicious egg drop soup. The silky, wonderful sensation on his tongue and the rapid warmth spreading through his stomach caused every pore on his body to open up, making him feel indescribably comfortable.

He instinctively closed his eyes, his face filled with satisfaction.

This sensation felt as if he were basking in the warmth of sunlight on a beach...

"Hey, wake up! Is it really necessary to exaggerate this much?" Lin Xiaomei called out speechlessly.

Qin Shou opened his eyes and glanced at Lin Xiaomei helplessly.

You wouldn’t understand if you’ve never watched The Chef of South Flower Street.

"Master, Master, give me a taste too!" Rein Jia’er couldn’t wait and said eagerly.

"Here, serve yourself."

"Mhm, mhm."

Rein Jia’er grabbed a big bowl and noisily slurped down the soup in one gulp, his expression indistinguishable from Qin Shou’s.

Perhaps feeling it wasn’t enough, he ladled another bowl and squatted to the side.

Holding the bowl in one hand, he pulled out the head of a Black Bee Beast from his Space Wristwatch with the other. Crunching away noisily, he then took another sip of the egg drop soup.

"Crunch..."

"Sluuurp..."

"Ah... comfortable..."

Rein Jia’er said with a satisfied smile.

Beside him, Qin Shou and Lin Xiaomei glanced at the Black Bee Beast’s severed head in Rein Jia’er’s hand and couldn’t help feeling a bit queasy.

This guy... let’s make sure he doesn’t eat at the table next time!

...

After resting for a while, the two continued on their journey.

As they passed by the seaside, an ethereal call, carrying the ancient essence of distant times, suddenly echoed from the waters.

"Waa-wooo..."

The sound, full of penetrating force, reverberated through the ruins of the city for a long time.

Qin Shou raised an eyebrow and hastily pulled out his binoculars to look toward the ocean.

In the deep-sea area thousands of meters away, he spotted an extraordinarily enormous Blue Whale suddenly leaping out of the water.

"Waa-wooo..."

"Splash!!"

The Blue Whale plunged back into the ocean with a crash, sending waves hundreds of meters high. The scene was so breathtaking that Qin Shou momentarily lost himself in awe.

"So beautiful!"

Beside him, Lin Xiaomei held her binoculars, gazing at the graceful figure of the Blue Whale with amazement.

"Aoo!"

Suddenly, dozens of menacing snake-like heads appeared on the surface of the water, speeding toward the Blue Whale and surrounding it completely.

The mouths of these creatures lacked venomous fangs; instead, they bore sharp, densely packed teeth.

The creatures closed in on the Blue Whale in a slow encirclement.

They were planning to hunt the Blue Whale!

"Are those sea snakes?" Lin Xiaomei gasped.

Qin Shou shook his head. "It doesn’t seem like it..."

Just as his words fell, the Blue Whale’s immense tail suddenly slapped the water, stirring up massive waves. Amidst the turbulence, several bizarre creatures emerged intermittently—serpentine necks, dinosaur-like torsos, fin-like limbs without claws.

"Ancient mutants—Snake-necked Dragons!" Lin Xiaomei cried out in astonishment.

"Snake-necked Dragons?! Looks like the Blue Whale doesn’t stand a chance..."

Her voice trailed off just as the water surface showed further disturbances. A colossal vortex began forming, and dozens of Snake-necked Dragons flailed in panic, emitting frightened cries.

At the center of the giant vortex, the massive Blue Whale opened its enormous mouth, a force akin to a black hole sucking in unlimited seawater, enveloping the surrounding Snake-necked Dragons within its grasp.

"Aooo!!"

The Snake-necked Dragons snarled with terror, but no matter how they struggled, they couldn’t break free from the vortex’s pull. Instead, they were drawn closer and closer.

Within mere seconds, several Snake-necked Dragons were swept away by the current and vanished into the Blue Whale’s gaping maw.

"This..."

Lin Xiaomei stared in shock. "This Blue Whale’s appetite is insane!"

Qin Shou’s expression lit up with excitement. "Perhaps it has some special ability, like... an internal dimension within its stomach, capable of devouring everything..."

As his words ended, the ocean vortex expanded rapidly. The remaining Snake-necked Dragons were engulfed one after another, leaving nothing behind.

"Splash!"

Soon after, a towering water column hundreds of meters high erupted from the sea, while a light drizzle descended onto the ocean surface.

"Waa-woo..."

A thrilled call mixed with ethereal energy drifted over from afar. Clearly, the Blue Whale, having gorged itself, was now brimming with joy.

"This creature better not get too carried away—you’d hate for it to accidentally beach itself. That’d be awkward," Qin Shou chuckled.

Among whale-like monsters, Blue Whales were known to be the gentle kind.

Unless actively attacked by humans, Blue Whales would typically ignore anything or anyone.

Qin Shou held no hostility toward this gentle and naturally mysterious monster.

"Wait, why is it coming toward us?" Lin Xiaomei suddenly pointed at the sea.

Qin Shou looked over and sure enough, the Blue Whale was excitedly leaping from the water, playing as it approached the shoreline—blissfully unaware of the danger awaiting it.

Qin Shou’s lips twitched. Don’t tell me I really am the protagonist?

Alright, looks like this is heading for exactly that outcome.

Thinking that, Qin Shou found a spot to sit down, calmly waiting.

"Qin Shou, what are you doing?" Lin Xiaomei asked.

"Just wait. Soon, you’ll get a chance to interact up close with this Sand Whale."

Lin Xiaomei: "..."

...

Sure enough, moments later, the Blue Whale realized something was amiss—but by then, it was too late.

"Splash!"

Leaping out of the water, the Blue Whale suddenly crashed onto the shallow shoals. It frantically slapped its tail, trying to return to the ocean.

For reasons unknown, the harder it slapped its tail, the closer it got to the shore.

Three minutes later, Qin Shou and Lin Xiaomei arrived at the shallows, finding the Blue Whale was far larger than they’d imagined.

Its more than sixty-meter-long body, akin to a small mountain, lay quietly on the shallow beach.

"Waa-woo..."

The Blue Whale’s ethereal cries finally carried a hint of sadness.

Exhausted and lying helplessly on the shore, its massive body exposed to the air had never felt such an overwhelming burden.

"Qin Shou, let’s push it back into the ocean. It’s so pitiful," Lin Xiaomei said, stroking its skin with a faint expression of sympathy.

Qin Shou scoffed. "It’s too big; how do we push it?"

"Use your beasts to help."

"Haha, I’m afraid it might react and swallow them whole instead."

"Then what can we do?"

Qin Shou rubbed his chin and suddenly chuckled. "That’s easy. Since it can’t move right now, we’ll just put it into the Beast Breeding Space, then release it back into the sea later."

Lin Xiaomei’s eyes lit up. "That’s it! Capture it into the Beast Breeding Space, and then we can return it to the water safely."

Qin Shou scratched his head. This girl seemed to have misunderstood his intentions.

If it’s captured already, only an idiot would let it go!

A body this enormous—it’s definitely a Horror-level Monster, no doubt about it!

Feeling exhilarated about owning a Horror-level Monster soon, Qin Shou was overjoyed.

He didn’t worry about this Blue Whale wreaking havoc in the Beast Breeding Space or breaking free.

System Space and Beast Breeding Space are entirely different.

While Beast Breeding Space might not be stable, his System Space was a different story.

Not only could he assign it a dedicated beast habitat, but the spatial stability was far superior to ordinary Beast Breeding Spaces.

Randomly stumbling upon a Horror-level Monster like this, Qin Shou felt he was finally turning his luck around.

Feigning a few taps on his wristwatch, he focused his thoughts. The Space Gate opened wide and swiftly enveloped the Blue Whale.

Lin Xiaomei quirked her eyebrows in mild confusion.

The Space Gate could maneuver freely? What kind of black-tech secret was this?
