Chapter 68 -68: Who Intends to Capture by Releasing
Jing Financial Head Office.
Chen Cheng and Li Zhida sat facing each other, smiling, “Li Xing, the store opens tomorrow.”
He handed over the handwritten invitation, “Please honor us with your presence.”
Li Zhida stood up, took it with both hands.
Seeing Chen Cheng being so formal, he knew Jin Baogen was always like this.
“Mr.
Chen has issued an invitation, I will definitely come,” Li Zhida said while pouring tea for Chen Cheng.
Chen Cheng tapped on the table three times to express his appreciation, showing respect for his senior, Li Zhida.
“This collaboration with CGG, I owe it a lot to you, Mr.
Chen,” Li Zhida continued, “I hope our future cooperation will be pleasant.”
In this chain of interests, whether it’s Jin Baogen, Li Zhida, or Wen Shulin representing CGG, they are friends, but also competitors for benefits.
They all want to achieve the greatest benefit for themselves while maintaining dignity.
What Jing Financial needs is a quick recirculation of funds for subsequent lending and investment.
“You flatter me, Li Xing.
I also took over midway, there is still a lot to learn from predecessors like you,” Chen Cheng said modestly.
Li Zhida laughed heartily: “Mr.
Chen, you are too modest.”
“Although this is our first collaboration, I believe, Mr.
Chen, you will bring us a good start, and our future cooperation will be smoother and deeper,” he continued.
Chen Cheng knew too well inside, verbally agreeing, “Li Xing, rest assured.
Tomorrow I will talk to the representative from CGG, we will definitely get an answer that satisfies all three parties.”
“With Mr.
Chen’s words, I feel relieved,” Li Zhida raised his hand, “Let’s have some tea.”
After three cups of tea, Chen Cheng stood up, “Li Xing, I should be going now.”
“Then let me see you out.”
“I’m going to Director Xia’s office first,” said Chen Cheng directly.
Li Zhida smiled and said, “Okay.”
Chen Cheng left the room and followed the signs, quickly finding the door marked “Head of Office.”
He glanced at the sign on the right, the arrow was stuck on “In Position,” he couldn’t help but smile.
Knock knock knock.
“Come in.” The voice of Xia Yubing came.
Chen Cheng opened the door and saw her sitting at the desk, eyes fixed on the computer screen.
Xia Yubing was very dignified while working, a stark contrast to the freer atmosphere under the table.
“Cough cough.”
Chen Cheng coughed lightly, “Busy?”
Hearing the familiar voice, Xia Yubing suddenly looked up.
“Why are you here?” She quickly stood up, walked to the door, and locked it, as if afraid this surprise would be stolen.
Chen Cheng teasingly asked, “Why are you locking the door?”
Xia Yubing’s tone carried a hint of reproach:
“You know exactly why.
I’m worried about being found out.
You know, my office is a ‘busy’ place, if a colleague were to see us, that would be…”
The next second, she threw herself into Chen Cheng’s arms like a lover who had reunited after many days, clinging to her dearly missed other half.
As Chen Cheng smelled the familiar perfume, his hand unconsciously stroked her back, “I just passed by to see you.”
Xia Yubing didn’t expect this response.
She gently pushed Chen Cheng away.
“You always do this.”
But she was about to leave, then Chen Cheng pulled her back into his embrace.
“You don’t text often, and now you are so affectionate when we meet.
Are you playing hard to get with me?”
“It’s really you playing hard to get…” she murmured.
Chen Cheng let her go, sat on her chair, and beckoned her with his fingers.
Xia Yubing obediently took small steps forward and stood leaning against the desk.
“I think your office uniform is really not up to par,” Chen Cheng looked at her legs wrapped in trouser fabric, “It doesn’t highlight your advantages at all.”
“Want a better look?” Xia Yubing teased.
Chen Cheng smiled lightly, “Am I someone with so little self-control?”
Xia Yubing sighed softly, looking at the big rival in front of her, her eyes falling on his wrist, “Like it?”
“It’s alright,” Chen Cheng replied nonchalantly.
“Then give it back to me.”
Xia Yubing said, leaning forward, intending to take the watch off Chen Cheng’s hand.
Chen Cheng smoothly pulled her, bringing this surprisingly contrasting mature beauty back into his arms.
“En~” Xia Yubing’s heart raced.
“Director Xia, you’re so busy, have you had no time to think about me?”
“I have…
I’ve been thinking…”
“Then how come you had no reaction?” Chen Cheng continued, “It doesn’t seem like your style.”
Xia Yubing firmly clamped down on that reckless hand, holding back, “I’m afraid someone might knock on the door.”
“Didn’t you lock the door?”
“Well still…”
Knock knock knock.
A sudden knock on the door startled Xia Yubing, and she hurriedly struggled free from Chen Cheng’s embrace.
Chen Cheng also got up from his chair, walked over to the chair opposite, and sat down as if nothing had happened.
Xia Yubing straightened her clothes and went to open the door.
“Director Xia, here’s a procurement contract, it’s for the office supplies for all offices this quarter,” reported the person who came.
Xia Yubing returned to her seat, still with her usual cool demeanor, “Okay, just put it here.”
“Anything else?” she looked up and asked.
The young girl noticed the silent but handsome Chen Cheng and then shook her head, “No, that’s it.”
“I’ll call you to collect it after I finish reviewing it,” Xia Yubing instructed.
“Okay, Director Xia,” the girl smiled, “Thank you.”
After the person left, Xia Yubing pursed her lips and glanced towards the unfazed Chen Cheng.
“I was so scared,” she patted her chest.
Chen Cheng smiled, stood up, and reached across the table to lift Xia Yubing’s chin.
“I’m leaving.”
“You’re just leaving like that?”
“I really just stopped by to see you,” Chen Cheng said slowly.
A flicker of disappointment passed through Xia Yubing’s eyes; she had thought Chen Cheng came specifically to see her after receiving her gift.
“Okay,” she said, lowering her head.
“Unhappy?”
“No.”
The corners of Chen Cheng’s mouth curved up, “Then give me a smile.”
“I can’t smile right now.”
“I gave you a chance,” said Chen Cheng.
Xia Yubing’s eyes brightened instantly, filled with anticipation, “Does that mean you’re going to punish me again?”
“When I have time,” Chen Cheng let go, turned, and walked towards the door, “I really am busy today.”
“How long?!” Xia Yubing asked eagerly.
Chen Cheng stopped, turned around and said, “When I feel like it.”
“Ah?”
After saying that, he opened the office door and walked out.
Xia Yubing watched Chen Cheng’s receding figure, both angry and annoyed.
She could tell from his words, though teasing, they also exposed the subtleties of their relationship.
Her feelings for him had long surpassed a simple master-servant relationship.
But she also knew that Chen Cheng might only see her as an interesting plaything.
“He….” Xia Yubing sighed softly, “How could I…”
But before she could refocus on her work, her phone on the desk suddenly vibrated.
She picked it up and saw a message from Chen Cheng:
“Don’t work too hard, see you tonight.”
