Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)-Chapter 211: Formal Introduction!
Mo Yuxin's arms tightened gently around her mother, Lan Xu, and her little sister, Feng Feng, as if she could anchor this moment in her heart forever. She felt the delicate tremor in Lan Xu's shoulders, the rapid flutter of Feng Feng's heartbeat, and the warmth of their embrace after so many months apart. For Mo Yuxin, this was more than a reunion—it was healing, a return to the place where she belonged, and the rediscovery of home.
Mother Lan finally let go, her fingers brushing away tears with the sleeve of her robe. She looked at her daughters with a trembling smile, her composure finally breaking to reveal the depth of her emotion. "Come, sit. We haven't shared tea in far too long," she said softly, her voice thick with feeling.
Mo Yuxin helped Feng Feng to the low round table at the center of the room. Su Yubing followed, her presence quiet but unwavering, like the moon's gentle light beside the sun. Without looking, Mo Yuxin reached back and caught Su Yubing's hand, their fingers intertwining in a silent gesture of reassurance and affection.
They sat side by side, Mo Yuxin's hand resting on Su Yubing's thigh. Her fingers drummed lightly, a private rhythm that only they understood. Su Yubing shot her a sideways glance—half warning, half flustered—but said nothing, her lips curving into a small, helpless smile.
The familiar parlor of the family estate was bathed in late afternoon sunlight, which streamed through the latticed windows and cast gentle patterns on the polished wooden floor. The porcelain teacups on the round table gleamed in the golden light. The room was cozy yet elegant: carved bamboo chairs circled the table, where Lan Xu, poised and gracious, sat with lively little Feng Feng. Nearby, two servants prepared fragrant chrysanthemum tea, their movements quiet and efficient. The peaceful atmosphere felt almost dreamlike after the long journey.
Mo Yuxin breathed deeply, savoring the comforting scents and sounds of home. She glanced at Su Yubing, who sat with perfect composure—her posture straight, hands folded neatly in her lap, her hair pinned up with a single jade hairpin. Su Yubing's beauty was immediate and otherworldly, her features delicate yet strong, her presence serene and radiant. For a moment, even Feng Feng was silent, captivated by the gentle aura of the newcomer.
Lan Xu began pouring tea into delicate porcelain cups, her hands still trembling slightly from the emotion of their reunion. She set the teapot down with care and turned her gaze to Su Yubing.
"And you, dear," she said kindly, "you've been so quiet. May I ask your name?"
The room fell into a brief hush.
Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing, their eyes locking in a moment of silent understanding. Mo Yuxin smiled, her voice warm and clear as she answered for them both.
"Mother, this is Su Yubing, daughter of the Su family. We have been traveling and adventuring together for the past year."
Mother Lan's eyes widened in surprise. She recognized the name—Su Yubing was Lady Su's daughter, the very friend who had become like a sister to her in Mo Yuxin's absence. The Su family had been a great support over the past year, and Lady Su's companionship had eased the loneliness of having a daughter away on a cultivation journey. The bond between the two mothers had grown into genuine friendship, forged by shared longing and mutual understanding. Now, to see Lady Su's daughter before her, so beautiful and poised, was almost surreal.
Lan Xu stood and bowed slightly, ever the gracious hostess. "It is wonderful to finally meet you in person, Su Yubing. Please, allow me to pour you some tea." She gestured to the seat beside her, her eyes shining with warmth.
Feng Feng, perched on her mother's lap, clapped her hands in delight. "Oh, Sister Yubing! You're even more beautiful than Mother said—like a fairy from a storybook!" she exclaimed, her voice full of innocent awe.
A faint blush colored Su Yubing's cheeks. She inclined her head humbly. "You are too kind, Aunt Lan. Little Feng Feng, you are very sweet." The color on her cheeks deepened as Feng Feng's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Mo Yuxin squeezed Su Yubing's hand under the table, her heart swelling with pride and affection.
Mo Yuxin herself was beaming. She smoothed the long sleeves of her crimson silk robe, careful to show respect in front of her family. "Thank you, Mother. We are so happy to be home and to see you all again." Her voice was steady, but her eyes glistened with emotion.
Lan Xu settled herself at the head of the table and gestured for the teacups. "Let us have tea, everyone," she said in her elegant voice. "You must be tired from the road, Yuxin. But first, tell us of your journey."
Mo Yuxin exchanged a quick, bright smile with Su Yubing and began pouring tea for everyone. As the fragrant steam rose, she recounted their travels—stories of distant mountains, hidden valleys, and the challenges they had faced together. Her words were calm, but Lan Xu noticed the way her daughter's eyes sparkled whenever she glanced at Su Yubing. Beneath the table, Mo Yuxin's hand found Su Yubing's again, giving it a gentle squeeze.
Little Feng Feng, ever observant, noticed the subtle affection between the two. She watched as Mo Yuxin's hand rested on Su Yubing's thigh, fingers gently squeezing upward as she set down her cup. Feng Feng's bright eyes widened, her head tilting with innocent curiosity.
"Jiejie!" Feng Feng piped up, glancing at her mother for permission. With a small nod from Lan Xu, she continued, "Why is Jiejie's hand on Sister Yubing's leg? Are you playing some secret game?"
Lan Xu caught Feng Feng's gaze, smiling gently. "Feng Feng, we use gentle hands when holding tea cups, not each other's legs," she said, her tone amused rather than scolding. The innocent question brought a ripple of laughter to the room.
Mo Yuxin's heart skipped a beat. She had been so caught up in the comfort of touching Su Yubing that she had forgotten others might notice. Su Yubing's cheeks flushed a deeper red, and she quickly tucked her hand into her lap, her eyes darting away in embarrassment.
Lan Xu nodded, her eyes softening. "You've grown beautifully, Yubing. Your aura is even more refined than I imagined."
Su Yubing blushed under the attention. "Thank you, Auntie. I—"
Mo Yuxin placed a hand on Su Yubing's shoulder, interrupting softly. She turned her gaze to her mother, then to Feng Feng, then back again. Her voice was gentle but carried a quiet strength.
"Mother. Feng Feng. I want to introduce Su Yubing properly."
The room fell still, the air charged with anticipation.
Mo Yuxin took a deep breath, her eyes shining with sincerity. She gently cupped Su Yubing's cheek, her touch filled with tenderness and love.
"She is not just someone I met on my journey. She is not just Su Yubing, daughter of the Su family."
Su Yubing tensed slightly, her eyes flickering with uncertainty.
Mo Yuxin smiled, her gaze unwavering.
"She is my wife."
The words hung in the air, dropping like a stone into a quiet lake.
"My beloved. The person I love. The one I wish to walk beside for as long as my soul exists."
Her thumb brushed tenderly across Su Yubing's cheek, her eyes never leaving her mother's.
Su Yubing's eyes widened, her face flushing a deep crimson. She looked away, shy but unable to hide the pleased curl of her lips. For a moment, the room was utterly silent.
Feng Feng dropped her empty teacup with a clatter, her mouth forming a perfect "O" of surprise.
"Y-your what?!" the child gasped, her voice echoing in the stillness.
Lan Xu blinked once. Twice. Then she slowly set her teacup down with a soft clink, her expression unreadable.
"Wife?" she echoed, her voice trembling with disbelief and wonder.
Mo Yuxin nodded, her chin lifted with pride. "Wife."
Su Yubing tried to speak, but only a small squeak escaped her lips.
Feng Feng leaned forward, eyes wide with innocent confusion. "Does that mean you two are going to kiss and sleep together forever now?"
"F-Feng Feng!" Su Yubing choked, burying her face in her hands, her ears burning red.
Mo Yuxin laughed softly, pulling Su Yubing close. "That's exactly what it means."
Lan Xu blinked again, her eyes filling with tears—not of sorrow, but of overwhelming joy. She reached across the table, taking Su Yubing's hands in hers.
"My dear child," she said, her voice trembling with emotion, "welcome to our family. I am so grateful—so happy—that you and Yuxin have found each other. You are both precious to me. From this moment on, Su Yubing, you are my daughter as well."
Su Yubing looked up, startled, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "Really?" she whispered.
Lan Xu nodded firmly, her smile radiant. "Really. As long as you love my daughter and treat her well, I will have no complaints. Yuxin, you must treasure her in the years to come, do you understand?"
Mo Yuxin grinned teasingly, turning to Su Yubing. "Did you hear that? Mother seems to love you more than her own daughter!"
Lan Xu's laughter rang out, warm and proud. "Perhaps I do! But from today, you are both my daughters. My family is truly complete."
She squeezed Su Yubing's hand, her eyes shining. "I must visit Lady Su at once and share this wonderful news. We will set an auspicious date to arrange the marriage. It will be a celebration for both our families!"
Feng Feng's hand shot up excitedly. "Then I want to be the flower girl at the wedding!" she declared, her voice ringing with delight.
Su Yubing groaned, hiding her face. "There's no wedding planned yet!" she protested, but her voice was soft, her heart clearly full.
Mo Yuxin leaned her head on Su Yubing's shoulder, her smile gentle and content. "Not yet. But soon," she whispered.
The mysterious woman seated quietly beside Lan Xu sipped her tea, her eyes full of ancient knowing, as laughter and warmth filled the room. The gentle scent of jasmine mingled with the sound of joy, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. The bonds of family—old and new—wove together, promising a future filled with love, acceptance, and happiness.
Outside, the sun dipped lower, casting a golden glow over the estate. Inside, hearts were light, and the promise of tomorrow shimmered in every smile.
