Miss Witch Doesn't Want to Become a Songstress-Chapter 229
On the third day of hosting Li Xun and her group, Thilan took them to the Hat and Dagger club.
"Hello, President!"
As soon as they entered the training hall, club members bowed to the black-haired girl walking at the front. The depth of their bows and the sincerity in their voices made it clear that these greetings were heartfelt, not mere formalities.
"Hello," the girl nodded to them, holding a clipboard, before the two trainees went off to practice.
Following Thilan, Li Xun and her group continued to encounter people greeting her. It seemed that wherever she went, voices of welcome would rise. Some even bowed to her a second time.
"Hello, President Thilan!"
"Hello, President!"
"Hello, Senior Thilan!"
These greetings echoed through the spacious training hall, making it impossible not to notice. After responding multiple times, Thilan gradually realized something was off. Why were these guys so energetic today, all vying to make an appearance?
"Ahem..."
She curled her fingers and lightly coughed, signaling them not to tease her in front of outsiders, then stopped walking.
"Is this the training hall of the Hat and Dagger club? It looks great. I watched the video of that amazing match earlier this year and was really impressed by the members who stepped in to save the day..."
Li Xun, following Thilan to the second-floor viewing platform, mentioned what she had seen.
"By the way, Thilan seems to be highly respected and popular here," Li Xun said, her eyes filled with curiosity, hoping to hear the reason from the girl herself.
"This... uh, probably because I used to handle their communications with the student council," Thilan could only play dumb. She couldn’t very well say she was the big boss here, could she?
Soon after, notified by other members, Woolay hurried over. As soon as he entered the training hall, his gaze swept across the room and quickly spotted Thilan and the others on the second-floor viewing platform.
He took a few quick steps, then leaped up to the second-floor platform with a powerful jump, the gust of wind he brought with him astonishing Li Xun and her group.
Most of them were fashion designers, with their transcendent sequences only around Sequence 3. Facing a top-tier Sequence 5 like Woolay was like children standing before a tiger. Even though he had no intention of attacking, the aura and sense of power he exuded couldn’t help but instill fear.
"Hello, are you President Woolay?" Li Xun asked cautiously.
"That’s right, I’m Woolay," he grinned, his once shiny bald head now sporting short hair.
After nodding slightly to Li Xun and her group, the burly man carefully approached the black-haired girl standing by the railing.
"Good afternoon, President Thilan. I overslept a bit and arrived late," Woolay said.
Despite his towering size compared to the girl by the railing, his cautious demeanor made him seem like a younger brother who had been bullied by his older sister for years.
Hearing his words, Thilan didn’t turn her head, her face tinged with embarrassment as she avoided looking at him, afraid Li Xun and her group would notice.
"I understand. President Woolay, you can go about your business. There’s no need to report to me so formally," she said, clearing her throat.
After a moment, she finally turned around.
"Well... I’ll get back to work then," Woolay said, seeing that Thilan didn’t seem upset.
He scratched his head, then jumped down again and jogged across the training hall, blowing the whistle hanging around his neck to gather the members for their usual training session.
"Today, we’ll start a new round of sparring..."
Woolay’s booming voice echoed through the training hall.
After thoroughly touring the Hat and Dagger club’s training facilities, the designers took many photos. They captured scenes of sword practice, the exterior of the training hall, and more. The designers’ photography skills were impressive, finding angles that were particularly striking—like a sword thrusting toward the camera, the blurred streaks of sword light, and the few rays of sunlight filtering into the training hall.
"Where to next?"
"Next..."
Considering the current reputation of the Indigo Cornflower, Thilan chose to visit a few other large clubs. Along the way, people continued to greet her, making Li Xun and her group increasingly curious.
"Why do they call Thilan ’President’?"
Li Xun finally couldn’t help but ask.
"Well, probably because I’m the president of the Twilight Ensemble," Thilan offered a plausible explanation.
"Thilan has her own club too? Where is it? Can you take us to see it?"
Hearing this, Li Xun’s curiosity grew even stronger.
"Uh... sure, follow me."
Finally, as evening approached, the group arrived at a room on the second-to-last floor.
Opening the door, they found the club activity room bustling with activity. Iyepher was watering the plants, Ruby was lounging on the sofa watching cartoons, Phyllis and Alen were playing chess, and the others hadn’t arrived yet.
"Is this the Twilight Ensemble’s activity room? It doesn’t seem like there are many people, but it feels very cozy," Li Xun looked around, taking in the room’s decor.
"Many students are studying right now, so they’re probably in class."
"I see," Li Xun said, following Thilan to the large window in the activity room. The room’s height, second only to the top floor, offered a clear view of most of the campus.
Watching the girl by the window, her hair gently swaying in the breeze, Li Xun continued to voice her curiosity.
"Thilan, do you play music? I noticed the word ’ensemble’ in your club’s name, so I thought it might be related to a music band."
"That’s right, it is related to a band," Ruby chimed in before Thilan could answer, running over and wrapping her arms around Thilan from behind.
"Let me tell you, President Thilan is exceptionally talented in music and has a natural gift for it."
"Really? But we haven’t seen the president play any instruments," some said skeptically.
While Thilan’s combat abilities were undeniable, her musical talents had rarely been showcased.
"That’s because you don’t have my keen eye~" the purple-haired idol girl said proudly, holding up a peace sign.
Seeing her so confident, the others couldn’t help but ask Thilan directly if she really could play an instrument.
"Well, I do know a little," Thilan admitted, seeing the club members gathering around her.
"Could you perform for us then?"
Li Xun joined in, urging her on.
"Yes, yes! President, could you grace us with a performance? We’ve never seen it before and are so curious~" As evening approached, more members arrived after their classes.
Under everyone’s eager gazes, Thilan finally nodded in resignation.
"However, I only know the violin, and I’m not very good at it," she warned them beforehand. She hadn’t been playing the violin for long, and with all the things happening at school, she hadn’t been practicing as diligently as before.
Half an hour later, holding the black wooden violin gifted by Dolores, the girl sat by the window and began to play.
From the metal strings, a melodious sound emerged, both strong and resolute, yet also gentle and expansive, gradually calming everyone down. By the end, the group stood silently in the activity room, watching the girl play against the backdrop of the setting sun. The golden afterglow blended with her flowing hair, and her soft, beautiful face was dreamlike in the purple-red twilight.
